The Martial Arts Movie Thread 2017 Donnie hates his fans

I wonder if i can use my military ID…Man watching movies too damn expensive, we were going to watch Captain A & they wanted $17. If i bring the family that’s about $100 for a 2hr movie…Nah ill wait for Redbox and watch in my home theater…haha but for The Raid 2, ill support it! Buy it when it comes out.

The only theater that was showing the midnight release of Raid 2 was $12 a ticket. So yeah, paying $7.50 was great for me.

Also me and Mrs. Hyper Kid are going to see it this weekend for date night. She knows I am itching to see it again. Honestly I’m surprised she was okay with seeing it for a date movie.

I was thinking about how Yayan went out in Raid 2 (club fight scene). That shit reminded me of Zabuza from Naruto a little bit. When Haku died.

well if you want snacks…tack another 7-10…if you got a girl…another 20 lol.

Can’t you get movie tickets for like 6 bucks using groupon?

So I had to search high and low to find a theater that was showing The Raid 2. I finally found one with only two show times which was a good 30 minutes from the crib, but its all good.

Took Mrs. Hyper Kid to see it and she thought it was great. There were sooo many questions she had about martial arts movies and she is looking forward to the third movie. She agreed that the duration, pacing and lack of origin for a certain 3 characters was the biggest draw backs from the movie. She loved the Kitchen fight scene and she really liked Hammer Girl. Either way, my wife finally saw why I get so hype off of these movies. Can’t wait for the BR release. I do know for sure that Gareth Evans hit on some things that I would like to utilize in my short film.

most people aren’t 30 sumtin white ladies.

This website hurts my eyes… but anyway a period film featuring Mel Gibson and Jackie Chan will be set to release early 2015, details roughly a Roman army that got lost in China. Some sources did mention that there will be no shortage of action scenes, which can’t go wrong if Chan has a part to play in it.

Last film I saw of Jackies was Chinese Zodiac, truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever had to sit through. Having Mel Gibson on board should be very interesting if he has any directorial/production input too.

I didn’t see Chinese Zodiac, but I expected it wasn’t going to be good. The story wasn’t that interesting, I think he should stick to action and leave the rest to people with experience. As far as I know he’s not the director this time round, it’s going to be the same director who did 14 Blades (2010) and White Vengeance (2011), which doesn’t say much I know, but I kind of liked 14 Blades.

Going to see The Raid 2 at the theatre tonight. For free.

So Mill Creek is releasing two huge martial arts movie collections. I really wish they were on BR as well, but with all these movies I feel I can’t really pass it up.

Here is a full list of the movies in the collection.

Also, the iTunes store has The Raid 2 for pre-order. I didn’t see a release date though.

The raid one was better because of the simplistic situation they were in. Raid 2 has better fight scenes which is what I wanted but it was all over the place storywise.

Most classic martial art films are philosophical from beginning to end. The Raid is a crime film not a martial arts film, the raid 2 has loads of martial arts in it but it’s still a crime film, barely any philosophy in it at all

Raid 2…hoollllly shiiittttt. So glorious and brutal.

I want to see a ton of GIFs. So much gold.

DP/30 Interview with Gareth Evans and Iko Uwais

Uuugh, I just watched Wrath of Vajra…

It’s Lar Kar Leung day all saturday on the ELREY channel.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Just finished Heroes of the East. Shaolin Mantis is up next and then Dirty Ho after that. Then Return of the Master Killer. And then Invincible Pole Fighter.

So The Raid 2 will be releasing on July 8. Below is a link to more details and to preorder it over at Amazon.

Apparently Hulu Plus has a ton of classic Samurai and martial arts movies to watch. I’ve had Hulu Plus for a while and I’ve basically only used it for Anime and Wrestling. I know they have the live action of Holyland (which I still need to watch the last episode). Anyway I will go through and compile a list of all the films. I’m glad that they have some Zatoichi and Street Fighter films (Sonny Chiba was so underrated imo).

^How good is the Anime selection on Hulu Plus vs. Crunchy Roll?
