The Martial Arts Movie Thread 2017 Donnie hates his fans

Just saw it, excellent movie. The assassin’s (Krosok?) wife was hella cute. Dem Indonesian waifus doe.

Watching now…did not expect to see…never mind, you’ll laugh when you see it.

God, listen to yourselves. What’s more pretentious? Going to a kungfu flick and trying to find the meaning of life in that movie? Or saying the movie sucked because you couldn’t find the meaning of life in said movie?

STFU. What the hell did you goons go to raid 2 for? Go watch rio 2 or some bullshit.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

This movie was fucking fantastic. It was everything I thought it would be and more. Just like the first one, I thought my body was ready but it wasn’t.

It’s a kungfu flick, you fags. All you do is just wait for the DVD to ff to the fights anyway. Why pretend?

Yeah I nerded out through the entire movie, but then I was also drinking before that as well, lol. I thought it was cool seein some of the local Tekken guys at themovie though, Ireally was happy to support Gareth Evans on this. I want him to continue makin movies.

Yo, am I the only one who thinks the chick in my avatar is gorgeous as fuck? I’m just wonderin, because she got that Rashida Jones look about her.

She looks weird to me and I loved mixed babies but this one not so much. I know you pulled that from that Nat Geo article about the future look of American people. I feel like the chance to have any eye color that is not brown is slimmer than what this photo might lead you to believe. Isn’t (non-brown) eye color like a recessive trait usually? Anyway, whatever we look like in 50 or 100 years it won’t matter as long as white male is the de-facto way America as a culture perceives and is perceived by the world.

Back to martial arts though is there a Krav Maga movie of some kind? No joke I’d love to see a movie about an israeli woman going undercover to take down some drug/human trade/terrorist ring.

Saw The Raid 2, was hella badass. And it was a hyper bloody and gory film that actually made sense to have as much blood and gore in the context of how people are getting fucked up.

Spoiler

Hella sad Andi died at the beginning though :frowning:

Yeh, I can tell theres a movie in there that I can enjoy, it just needs a re-cut to shorten it, maybe then I will be less critical of the fights choreography.

LOL STFU! Put your cum drenched boxers in the wash and take a cold shower. “Trying finding the meaning of life” where fuck did you get that impression? If you actually read my opinions over the past couple of pages, I backed up all my reasons for not jumping on this hype train.

If you are just interested in seeing people get fucked up and comically loud blood splatter sound effects (that seemed straight out of the Walking Dead) then cool, then maybe I am being pretentious wanting better choreography (or at least better editing and framing of scenes to hide opponents out of view), better screenwriting out of movies I pay £10 to see, forgive me for hoping all this hype and high praise meant that kung fu cinema had started moving forward again…

“It’s a kung fu flick, you fags”

Throwing out insults instead of discussing the movie beyond O.M.Gs guys dis movie was da bomb just shows your maturity, you’re also being a narrow minded fool if you can’t even see yourself that director was aiming to create something more than just a kung fu flick. The flip side of this is that if he was indeed just making a kung fu flick, refer back to my comments about the needless closeups, slow motion and dragged out scenes of pointless dialogue. This is partially why I think the original is a better overall movie, it was straight to the point, there were no distractions.

This has been the Furious One saying…

As the saying goes, less is sometimes more.

Raid 1 was better as movie overall IMO (individual set pieces are debatable).

I took Krav Maga for a couple of months last year. Like JKD it has it’s own framework, it does borrow from other arts but they do not throw the same moves in the same manner, it’s mind set to combat is completely different to those arts being military based. Like JKD everything I learned was through pressure drills, they like to go hard. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more military based movies using these martial arts actually.

Yeah I really liked how this fight scene unfolded. I liked the sense of urgency as everything came full circle.

If any of you are in the New York area next week, there is a Kung Fu movie festival. Most definitely worth checking out.

@"The Furious One"‌ - Yo man I could use your advice about making a short martial arts film. I’ve been working out some ideas and locales, but the thing is I haven’t actually filmed anything to that level before.I am a photographer but cinematography is something I don’t know how to do. I just know what I think looks nice…

.

I haven’t filmed anything in nearly 10 years, I’ve been on the sidelines during the making of Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist, talking with the directors gives you a lot of insight into the creative process. It definitely changes the way you watch films, for better or for worse.

Best advice I could give you is do your own thing, learn from others, try to be a perfectionist (if you’ve already got an eye for detail then you are already leaps and bounds ahead of most people in the industry). There should be plenty of online communities, as to which ones I do not know. Also work hard on your writing skills, it will really help translate what you hope to achieve on camera to others.

I wasn’t ready for the second half of Raid 2. Holy shit. When he said it’s on IT WAS ON.

I dunno man Raid 1 definitely had better pacing, but Raid 2 had me feeling like…WOW. Dat second half of the movie…action after action after action I’m still trying to process it.

[details=Spoiler]Yayan 0-2 :sad:

#RIPMadDog #RIPKoso

They could be saving the Japanese gang for a potential 3rd part, who knows. Don’t know how shady those guys could be, and they could start right where 2 ended.[/details]

I agree on less shaky cam but this is easily a must watch. I like 1 and 2 equally right now.

'Koso = aged badass

Wow those are some old school Essential films to watch…I wish they had that here. Haven’t seen Canton Viper out of all those films, is that worth checking out?

Well

Spoiler

Isn’t Rama fucked since that head police guy took a shotgun to the face in the restaurant? Plus aren’t the Japanese controlling the police as well?

Raid 3 - Samurai, Ninja’s & Rama OH MY!

Well gareth evans (director) already said that he would be doing a part three, which takes place three hours before the second film ends. So I am assuming that it will focus more on the japanese and what they were about to do to Beja. I really wish they would have kept the three assassins in it so you could learn more about them in the third movie. But seeing as how Evans likes to reuse his actors in new roles, I am almost certain Yayan and the assassins will be in the new one as well.

Also if any of you still have student ID’s from college, then hold on to them, great for getting movie discounts. I’ve been out of college for a grip and I still use mine, lol.

dat college id hack is the greatest tool in my arsenal…ya know…besides being black in a very white city.

I think I can afford $9… you know, just Saiyan.
