The Martial Arts Movie Thread 2017 Donnie hates his fans

I’m sorry but Yasuaki Kurata > Sho Kosugi

Sure Sho got a lot of exposure, but that’s because he AND his son on that white man’s dick.

I keep forgetting about this classic from Sho Kosugi. LOL!!

i like kurata too but something about Sho Kosugi did it for me when i was a kid. Stuff like above having a ninja star in his belt just fucking bad ass…Or this scene right here!

2 questions

1: Was this guy the inspiration for Robert Garcia?

2: Where the hell can I find a big-ass jungle gym like that?!

Lol that shit is terribad.

Rhio2K : Actually, those things use to be around in the 80s. I remember playing on one in my area when i was a kid LOL!! They probably tore them down since nowadays that would be considered dangerous by the standards of today. sigh

angelpalm : Yeah, the ninja movies of the 80 were bad but they were fuckin’ awesome at the same time. I remember watching those movies as a kid with the homemade/bootleg ninja mask on. LOL!!!

What whose Sho Kosugi and Ekin Cheng again?

Those sound effects though… This movie will be too hype.

This is some racist shit

Black guy gets pwned after 5 seconds
Asian guy takes a 30min beatdown
White guy shows up and gets bodied immediately
Black guy returns with a gun, gets bodied

wtf

That fuckin’ kendo strike  BOOOONG See, THIS is how Casey Jones should be fighting. Not just super-predictable, superman-swinging. A skilled opponent would tear his shit up bare-handed. That’s why I never really liked Casey. Fool carries weapons he doesn’t even know how to use properly. I can’t respect that. Leo and Don need to train his ass.

You know, I agree 100% with you. Casey should have been doin more especially since he teemed up with the Turtles. He was on some Fischer Price wannabe Martial arts BS.

Agree but personally think Richard Gere and Kevin Costner haven’t done enough straight action films to have anything more then brief cameos.

Honestly Liam Neeson needed to be in place of all those old dudes. I mean we got Taken, that’s all we need. I am still waiting for Mr. T, Carl Weathers, Treat Williams (The Substitute) and Philip Ree (Best of the Best). Also what about Sascha mitchell (Step by Step, Cyborg) I mean dude did have a short stint in action in the early 90’s. I really just think it would be dope to see him now, lol.

crazy white guy in ny with a hockey fetish…wtf is their to over think. this nigga was never gonna be a ninja…he mistakes claustrophobic with homophobic.

But you’d think he’d pick up some slick moves hanging around with martial artists. Might just be me. I see some shit I like, I’m stealing it like Taskmaster.

Watched Monkey King…looks old, like it was filmed in 1998 or something, but it was nice. Funny fight scenes.

The Raid 2 tonight at midnight. My mind and body is ready

Lucky you, no Raid 2 in my area.

Luckily there is only one theater in my city showing it at midnight. It’s 3 miles from my house.

So I just got back from seeing The Raid 2…

yeah that movie is beyond awesome. Gareth Evans outdid himself with this film. Basically when you see Raid 2, you will think “yeah this is how a movie is made”. This movie is a martial arts film that takes itself seriously and actually succeeds. I mean, everything from sound, cinematography and of course the fight scenes.

Let me talk about the fight scenes. Basically there are a lot of them. Each fight scene is different from the one before it, and in may ways more brutal. I think back about how my mind was blown when I first saw Ong Bak for the first time, but honestly this movie blows anything Jaa did out the water. The fight scenes feel more intimate if that makes any sense. To state it more clearly, its like you really feel invested with Iko through each fight scene and even some of the other characters (Yanyan Ruhian especially). Honestly there are a lot of fight scenes that I really cant remember how many there were. But each scene had something charming about it that made it more than just a run of the mill fight scene. Also Hats off to Evans to making a nod to Ip Man 1. If you have seen Ip Man 1, then you will see instantly that Evans was showing his love for that film.

Anyway, all I can say is go see this movie. Actually go see it several times if you can. I plan on seeing it maybe 2 more times before the end of the week. But yeah the movie is really good. my only gripe (a very small one at that) is that the movie is pushing 2.5hrs. It doesn’t feel long at all, everything felt perfectly paced, its just I guess getting there at midnight and leaving 10 minutes before three felt like it was long. But I promise, if you liked the first movie, then The Raid 2 will give you all you liked about 1 and then some.

Going to be watching it in a couple of hours
