sorry but if you’re showing independant martial arts films I have to show this
Is holyland worth getting Hulu for a month? Are the other Korean drama’s HD?
Hulu is worth it period. Mass anime and Korean Drama (British shows as well). Plus I can watch all the wwe shows as well. I use it more than Netflix tbh. I think in my cue I have over 50 animes and dramas.
Also I will probably watch Barrio Brawler either tonight or tomorrow. I’m interested in seeing what it’s about.
This is kind of old news, but Yuen Biao is supposed to be the lead in a show called "the 12 Deadly Coins"
You can read more here at Budomate.
Here is the trailer.
For some reason this reminds of Police Story 2 half way through the epic firework factory fight scene. These guys are good lol.
Just started ep 2 of Holyland. I guess they have to make the main kid level up super fast because the shows is only four episodes? Either way it isn’t bad, because it’s like watching a manga in the sense that they explain everything in the fight (like how the Judo guy countered the main kid).
@Rcaido: Here is a list of some of the Korean dramas on Hulu.
You’re the Best Lee Soon Shin
I Summon You, Gold!
Who Are You
The Mother’s Sun
Queen and I
Faith
Flower Boy, Next Door
Boys Before Flowers
Rooftop Prince
City Hunter
2 Weeks
Those are what I saw on the first page, but I didn’t want to go through the whole list, lol.
Episode 2 of Holyland is actually really good, a lot more fights and I’m not even half way through the ep.
off topic but anybody know if its possible to get Hulu on the PS3 in the UK?
You should be able to since it’s just an app.
This is random, but I just finished playing fight night and I had to fight Tommy Morrison, lol.
i was like…why do all the stunt people look reasonably young…then i realized its from 2008 hahha
Okay So the acting in Barrio Brawler is pretty bad, there was a line between two fighters where he says: “I’m gonna fuck you in the ass… hard” Yup that was actually said… Needless to say, check it out anyway. It may be Blood and Bone tier, no scratch that. Blood and Bone had Rufio from Hook so it gets a pass. The fights were okay. No wire fu or anything like that. I wanted to see more fights between the brothers though, like they for real had some decent moves. If anyone wants the link just pm me and I will send it your way.
Still looking for the TYG2 Thai release. Been really tough so far. Thought I could find it since it was shown at Cannes.
Once you get TYG2 hook me up!
Trust bruv I will be sending everyone on here a link. I’m also looking into finding the Special ID as well. I know you usually can find stuff before a theatrical release via the film festival circuit. Speaking of which, there is a film festival here in cincy, so we may get lucky, lol. I am actually gonna check right now.
Found The Grandmaster. Will probably watch it tomorrow.
Jackie is like kung fu god. I love that man and also want him and Jet li to act together again in some movie. It would be great to see them again. Jackie was great inspiration for me to learn martial art as after school program activity.
Yo kinda jumping in here, But last year I tried to start diving into martial arts films, been a while since I bought anything, but can any of you guys recommend me a small list of some highly recommended films to pickup. I’m trying to binge shop for some stuff probably this weekend or next week.
Old school? Newer films? Wirefu? Swordplay? Chambara? Any sample that you have seen & really liked?
All is welcome, wirefu/cgi is alright too as long as the whole movie doesn’t look like it was done on stage lol. But ahh I’m interested i some swordplay films, haven’t really got to view any of those. But stuff I can give as to what I like is Protector/Tom Yum Goong, Once Upon a Time, Ong Bak series, and etc. If you know any good Japanese filsm I’d like to know as well, but yeah old, new anything is welcome. Thanks!
Edit: Samurai specifically is also wanted lol
Reign of Assassins if you haven’t already seen it is fucking badass. You might like that new Kenshin live action movie even though I wasn’t a big fan of it. Ironclad is also a bad ass western flick full of brutal sword play that has some great acting in it.
Old school Samurai/Chambara films:
Samurai Trilogy, Sword of Doom, Harakiri, Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, Samurai Rebellion, Lone Wolf & Cub, & Zatoichi series…
Newer Samurai/Chambara:
Yoji Yamada trilogy ( Hidden Blade, Twilight Samurai, & Love and Honour) amazing
When the Last Sword Drawn, 13 Assassin, Harakiri (new version), not really Samurai but Shinobi, Rurouni Kenshin
HK Swordplay/Weapon:
Duel to the Death, Last Hurrah Chivalry, Swordsman 2, The Blade(Tsui Hark film), Seven Swords, Avenging Eagles, One Arm Swordsman, Odd Couple, Hero, Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, Shaolin Challenges Ninja, New Dragon Gate Inn (Bridgette Lin), Burning Paradise, Legendary Weapons of China…
That should get you started.
