The MarsGatti Farewell/Peace Out Thread

Is that a good stick, Thelo? Anywhere online I can get a deal on it? Thanks.

It’s my own stick and I’ve loved it from day one. I find it to be pretty much of equal quality to the TE. I personally imported it from some Hong Kong website in 2008, but I remember seeing a bunch of them on eBay. I don’t know where to buy a new one right now, though, but you can look for HRAP EX or Hori Real Arcade Pro EX.

Yeah you can get an HRAP EX or an HRAP EX SE online. Check Ebay, Amazon, I’d also check the tech talk thread and the trading outlet good deals thread, they’re usually up on all the hidden deals on sticks… hence I got my TE for 70.00… used but in GREAT shape.

Cause I haven’t played them?

The part where I don’t have an xbox would make that difficult. Don’t you think?

KOTOR on steam sounds like an idea since I have steam.

PS3 got the patch xbox did, it just didn’t fix anything except for the vega desync bug.

Primary difference between PS3 and xbox versions is that the PS3 version is pretty much unfinished in a technical sense. It’s apparently still ok to sell it to people though.

The only PS3 pad that is set up to look and feel like a 360 pad that I know of is some Best Buy exclusive controller. I think you can get them on Bestbuy.com. They seemed to have gotten bad reveiws, but I think that was from mostly FPS players, don’t know how good they would be for fighting games.

I can’t play with a pad and I hate Jap-style sticks so I have two all HAPP customs, one for 360 and one for PS3 that I use. I have a SF4 TE stick for 360 that I’ve taken out of the box once, now it just gathers dust in the basement, LOL.

Just sell it to Norieaga or whoever, heh :stuck_out_tongue:

Equal quality maybe if you replace the poop Hori buttons with Sanwa. Quite honestly, you’ll usually see a HRAP EX and TE around the same price. Since TEs are all-Sanwa from the get go, I really see no reason to even look at the EX… unless you really love how huge they are.

That and the headset port is on the face of the EX. What the hell?? Also don’t care for the HRAP button layout. The farthest right buttons are horribly placed.

For someone who loves down-back action, that kinda surprises me. Playing SF2 without a square gate makes me cringe.

Possibly.I have my own take on the offline experience on ps3, but i’ll let the 2 people I contacted conduct the offline input delay tests between both versions…then we’ll have a conclusive answer once and for all. Oh yea, belated GGS Blitz :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I feel pretty late to this thread. Let’s see…best games/top 10:

Punchout (nes)
Fzero (snes)
Secret of Mana
Battletoads (curse that 2 player glitch!)
SSF2 (lol…no suprise there)
Legend of Zelda (nes)
Ninja Gaiden
Guardian Legend
Metroid
Star Fox

There are a ton of other games that get honorable mentions…these are just the ones that stick out most to me. On a side note, TecmoSuperBowl…you actually liked Ken Griffrey’s Winning Run?? That game was the sole reason why I started to rent games before purchasing blindly lol. I’m still hoping Bases Loaded comes back to reclaim it’s baseball crown =D

I just noticed that most games I listed were kind of old…ok maybe not as old as Possum’s list…but close! Possum, i’ve been tempted to join your Gears2 sessions, but that game gives me a crazy migraine after just 10 mins. Does anyone else here experience that when playing 1st person/3d games? Or maybe i’m just old.

It’s always good games with you sir. I’m looking forward to any new tests you do on the offline versions of the game. Should be a good read. :karate:

-DG - Always with the old man Possum jokes! LOL. I got to keep you young hooligans in line, LOL.

Anxious to see the results of the HDR offline tests, as far as I can tell they are the same on default speed, but that’s mainly just from practice mode on both systems.

1st/3rd person games don’t bother me, but my wife can’t even be in the room with me when I play them, they make her sick to her stomach. Marsaggati and I used to play in GOW2 rooms together (he’s pretty good at GOW2 as well), haven’t done that in a while. It’s always kinda fun to play a completely different genre game with a bunch of SF players.

Ugh. XB360 analog is horrrrible. Which is weird since it is the same type of assembly as the vastly superior XB180 Controller S version.

Possum and DGV - I didn’t know you guys even played other games. I always assumed that most of the SF’ers here almost exclusively play HDR, though I’m glad to be wrong. If any of you ever wanna play a different title, drop me an invite. I play pretty much all the premier titles.

I just suck at shooters, but my wife can’t do first person games either. True story, my wife had just finished Jade Empire (Underrated game imo) and wanted to do something bigger and more open. Of course I pull Morrowind out for the XBOX and put it in. 5 minutes in if she had moved her neck the way she moved that camera she would have decapitated herself. Of course after 10 minutes of this she decided to give up, then suffered from something like motion sickness the rest of the day… So no, you’re not alone DG.

I wouldn’t recommend Mirror’s Edge and/or Portal to either DG or our wives, then. Those two made me feel a little discombobulated, LOL. Though Portal is one of my all time favorites, unique, challenging, and very funny.

Noriega - I was a video game nerd in general long before I was a SF nerd, LOL. I usually go on stretches where I get burned out and take a break from SF2 for awhile and just play other games. I think ones coming here very soon, haven’t been able to get into my matches much for awhile, just kinda go through the motions and don’t play well, so I’ll be taking a break for a few weeks. My alternate crack for the moment is Battlefield BC2 on PS3 and Afro Samurai on 360 (prob going to get back into GOW2 on 360 as well).

See, I’ve been on a terrible RPG binge. DA:O led to ME2 led to FF13 and then at the start of next month Alpha Protocol comes out… and somehow I’m supposed to learn how to use a stick, keep up my less than amazing Cammy skills in HDR and learn how to play super focus link combo fighter… Damn you video game industry for just being too good the last 12 months…

I tried to post this a few hours ago, but my office computer is pretty pathetic.

My wife loves Mass Effect – from a narrative standpoint. She gets to watch an interactive movie, while I get to play a game all afternoon. However, one of the funniest things I have ever seen happened when I came home to find that she had fired up the 360 and tried to tackle a Mass Effect side quest. I don’t think she got the idea of subtle stick movements, since any attempt at aim adjustment resulted in a drastic jerk of the camera. At some point, she ended up staring into a corner, Blair Witch style, while her AI companions somehow managed to finish the combat without her.

She has motion sickness issues, but she has built up a tolerance of sorts. Not long after we first got married, she tried to play Ocarina of Time on our shiny new N64. She gave up after the intro movie made her sick.

On the year or so I played pad, I personally found it usable. I had some issues with it (there’s like no deadzone anywhere on it), but it did not destroy my game. But I’ll just stick to my stick with my PS-14-G buttons and a JLF (with a hori balltop lololol).

I don’t know how you guys get your girlfriends to enjoy games. The only thing my gf can stand are the Ace Attorney games, lol.

Sorry to change the subject again. :wgrin:

That was amazing!
