The MarsGatti Farewell/Peace Out Thread

That looks like it could be awesome…

Personally, I’m still upset that they’re not going to release Episode 3 of the Penny Arcade RPG Series on XBOX Live. I feel a little ripped off for buying the first two chapters…

Lost Oddessey was always one of those games that I really wanted to play but never had the time since I was finishing up my Ph.D. work, and now, there were too many good RPGs taking up my time. Dragon Age Origins led to ME 2 led to FF13 and now SSF4 is out (which I can say this for SSF4, its been super helpful for helping me learn how to use my stick, thank you training mode for showing inputs… I’m getting better on it everyday) and I’ve got to get back to playing more HDR because right now I’m so rusty I could be beat up by a ragequitting super scrub so… LO might not get played for qutie a while…

Nobuo Uematsu is to VGM as John Williams is to Movie Music… That is all.

Other VGM Composers of note
Koji Kondo
Yasunori Mitsuda
Noriyuki Iwadare
Jeremy Soule

Listen to this while its raining outside… you’ll probably want to slit your wrists after from sadness. (Its a great song though!)

Zelda 2 wasn’t that bad, it was just really hard and didn’t really play like a Zelda game. The original Zelda and the SNES Zelda were both way better, though.

Lost Odyssey is a hard game to rate for me. The graphics were great and all the “lost memory” stories were extremely well written (and, yes, often very sad). But the combat was very boring and the characters were all pretty much throw away JRPG stereotypre (androgenous male lead, goofy comic relief, etc). All the best writting and all your emotional investment is saved for the recovered memories stories and I ended up not actually caring much for the actual characters or the actual main story. And yes, Gongora was a weak main villian. So the whole thing ended up being very “meh” for me. Lots of wasted potential there.

Edit: Hey Tecmo, saw a review of the new Tecmo Bowl Throwback on XBL and PSN, and it is basically the original Tecmo Super Bowl with newer graphics and online play (you can also chose the original graphics). I just might have to get that!

Zelda was extremely successful, so they turn the sequel, into a hybrid mix of zelda, contra, and an actual rpg with exp and levels. :looney: And never go back to the zelda 2 style…

Idk man, majora’s mask(although fun) was one of the worst 3d ones, and it was twice as good as zelda 2.

Although I did like castlevania 2, since it did what the new age castlevanias do now. Never was a fan of arcade points style castlevania.

Anyone see the new info they released on Fallout Las Vegas? I’m super excited…

Yeah I’m looking forward to that game. I hope the online play is good.

Heck, I still haven’t played Fallout 3 yet. Double heck, I still haven’t played Mass Effect 1 yet so I can play ME2. Triple heck, I still need to finish Assasin’s Creed1 so I can play AC2! Quadrouple heck, I still have only messed around in training and played two games online on SSF4.

Not a lot of time to play and when I do I play too much HDR, LOL.

While I’ve definitely played too much HDR, I did make time for Fallout 3/Mass Effect

Never finished AC1 though…

I don’t know which game I dislike more: Street Fighter IV or the Assassin’s Creed series.

Wow… there’s some “against the crowd” stuff right there! Preach it brother, Testify!

I have a wife, 4 kids, and a 50+ hour a week job, so I’m lucky to get to play any games at all, LOL. On that note, my two boys like to play SF4, so I’m training them to be future EVO champs, LOL. I’ve taken my oldest to a few smaller, local tournies and he’s actually won a couple of matches in SF4 and HDR, not against exactly top level competition, but still pretty good for a kid.

Possum I’m with you. I’m teaching my little 2 year old daughter to be the next great street fighter prodigy… she’d pwn everyone in the ladies tournament this year in Super but… her mother said no.

I bet my 11 year old sister, who has a pretty solid Chun, would probably dominate Silver and Possum’s offspring any day of the week. She can walk-up super like nobody’s business.

Well, maybe, he does have some trouble against Chuns (he plays Blanka in both games). First thing I taught him was to tick throw every chance he gets, LOL.

My 8 yeard old is pretty good at connecting with Ryu’s Super and Ultra in 4.

While I can vouch for the ability of GA’s sister’s Chun (She really needs to learn the Cammy matchup though…), I’m training my little girl right… she’s a counterpicking, high tier loving kind of toddler, so she counterpicks Chun with Ryu and Fei Long and mains Ryu much to her father’s low tier loving dismay.

Oh and she’s watched Mars do j. lk crossup into cr. lk X3 XX Super enough to be able to do it…

He’s pulled that combo off enough on everyone we should all be able to do it, LOL.

+1 for actually working Mars into your comment in the thread that was supposed to be about Mars, LOL.

I think I would die if I lost to a 8 year old in street fighter

He has beat me in SF4 before, LOL. I usually play random select against him and I don’t know how to use half the cast in SF4. Doesn’t work for them in HDR, though, LOL.

Okay, so I haven’t really been following what’s been going on with the GAMME tournament, but I was reading some of the posts for the last month…

YIKES!

How do you promote a tournament forever and ever with such huge payouts and then move the date? I’ve never seen so much salt in one place… and I can’t say I blame people who already bought their tickets and hotel rooms… Talk about a total disaster…

If you’re going to promote a tourney with big payouts to entice players to travel to it, you’d better have everything nailed down and set before you start promoting it.
