Companies need to stop editing and censoring anime they bring over.
I mean just look at the travesty that they made one piece into.
Thundercats was just silly.
Voltron i can’t get into.
For the same reason i can’t get into Robotech.
Problem being i have seen the original shows that they salvaged the footage for Voltron and Robotech from.
Atleast with Robotech they tried to make somewhat of a new story with it.
Although i consider atleast Macross to be vastly superior to any part of Robotech.
Ah Macross now there is some nostalgia:
Whereas Voltron is just a more kid friendly mish mash of the original shows.
Also remember that Sailor Moon was one of the first heavily edited popular animes out in the US (I think Speed Racer and Robotec had a head start), so we didn’t get all that good stuff.
Thundarr the Barbarian was awesome!!! You’re also right, Thundercats should have been mentioned earlier (poo on you Shari! LOL). Spiderman and his Amazing friends was my favorite at the time (especially when the X-Men guest starred).
You know what would be awesome? Re-doing the 90s X-Men cartoon written for teens/adults (i.e. no more lazers and wolverine’s claws not cutting anyone). That Wolverine and the X-Men just wasn’t doing it for me…
Looked forward all week long to the hour on Saturday morning when Spidarman and his Amazing Friends and the Hulk cartoon were on back-to-back. Now kids have 3 or 4 cable stations to watch shows on, 24 hours a day. But back then every kid looked forward to Saturday morning when all the best cartoons were on from like 7:00 to noon.
Yeah cartoons were just better back in the day… of course now in the states if you’re lucky you can get Boomerang (which is awesome…) but eh.
On a different note, I’m actually doing my job right now… I’ve been watching last night’s British Leader’s Debate for the last 2 hours or so… If nothing else changes, Cameron is going to get his majority government. Mark my words. This is new territory in British politics with these televised debates and Cameron really struck the right blows last night, I think he understood the format the best and really spoke to the voting public… Gordon Brown is TOAST.
I never really followed anime much, probably only watched Inuyasha about 7 years ago. I remember one anime movie, Angel Cop, being really violent and mature-themed. I usually buy whatever cartoons I watched if they are released on DVD, but Bit Torrent has pretty much everything else that isn’t released. BTW - top 10 games of all time:
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY (XBox)
Deus-Ex (PC/PS2)
Resident Evil 4 (PS2)
Ninja Gaiden Black (XBox)
Super Street Fighter 2 (SNES)
Perfect Dark (N64)
WWF No Mercy (N64)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (XBox)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Shenmue II (XBox)
And finally, anyone here play MUGEN? I just made the most bad-ass MUGEN ever.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? Wow. Yeah, I was thinking to put HDR in my list instead of SSF2 but I associate Street Fighter more with the classic consoles. Its strictly a nostalgia thing. On another note, I think 3rd Strike has the best fighting engine of all of them.
3rd > HDR/ST/SSF2/SF2 > Alpha 1-3 > IV/SSIV
Shari - you should play Knights of the Old Republic since you like Star Wars and RPG’s. It really is a perfect game - a masterpiece.
Top Ten Games of ALL TIME? Wow… Alot of RPGs are going to be on my list… these are in no particular order
Final Fantasy 4
Final Fantasy 6
Chrono Trigger
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Phantasy Star IV
Lunar: The Silver Star (Sega CD)
Lunar: Eternal Blue (Sega CD)
KoToR 1
Baldur’s Gate 2 (Plus Throne of Bhaal)
Starcraft
Honorable Mention:
Neverwinter Nights
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Final Fantasy 7
Phantasy Star 2
Might and Magic 2
Warcraft 3
Warcraft 2
Starcraft 2 (If this is as good as hoped it will be top 10)
Diablo 2
Elder Scrolls Series (The whole series deserves mention)
Fallout Series (Whole series deserves mention)
Super Mario Brothers Series (Yeah… its awesome and you know it)
Mega Man 2
Lots of Blizzard, Squaresoft, and Capcom on this list… I hate FPSs just not my thing, and I’m really a story kind of guy. It really surprises me how much I enjoy HDR and how it really drew me back into fighting games, but I’m an addict, I mean I’ve never paid 80.00 for an accessory for a game before (and that was a good deal on my TE).
You really like the SegaCD versions of the Lunar games over the vastly superior PS1 versions? Hell, I think I’d rather play the PSP version over the SegaCD version.
