Thing is, unless they code in a contingency for all DP > ultras, you’d need to nerf the ultra itself in order for it to not deliver crazy damage. Imagine being able to hit HK.CW > cl.HP xx EX.CW > cl.HP xx EX.CW > cl.HP xx MK.FK xx FADC, HK.CW into FULL ultra? You’d need full meter to do it, but even so, it’s not impossible. I think that combo as-is without ultra does something like 600 already. It would have to scale down to near ineffectuality to be anything less than broken.

It’s unreasonable to draw comparisons to Sagat because he’s a stupid character with way too much damage potential off very simple setups.

Man that would prorate like crazy. But it’d be sexy as fuck. I’d do it even if it only did like 200 damage lol.

i dont think theyd take away that fireball invul on ex CW without giving him something else. remember seth said that the origional characters hadnt been tweaked a whole lot and they were in early development form.dont be too woried by that

I think they need to either give all characters a way to juggle into Ultra or take it out cause some have it to good and it will promote people using differnt characters. I know what Gayu and Fagat are going to do but I still lose to the juggle at least 1 round (Ohhhh nose they have meter better shut down half my game cause I don’t want to get juggled to hell)

Out of curiosity if EX CW didn’t have fireball invuln… did anyone test HK chicken?

I really how they keep their startup invincibility though. It’s pretty important.

Iv’e put some thought into his new ultra while playing some online today, and I think if done right, it could be indeed a good ultra…
reasons are to lock yur opponent’s poke game.
However it will only have that kind of effect if it has zero startup

I love it. Don’t know much about it, but it’s like love at first sight.

The only way I see Counter Ultra’s being useful is if you don’t dump the Ultra until it connects.

Kinda like Vega’s, Zangief’s, and T Hawk’s supers in SF2. Just have a big whiff kinda like Dudley’s counter.

First of, i wanted a juggle/comboable ultra as well…
But how much do we really know yet? (im sorry if i have missed some substantial information, dont think i have)
Im wondering how the recovery for the ultra is… i mean if it dosnt hit…
at the beginning of it he flips around, and then he starts the jump when they come with the attack.(as it seems to me)

What im thinking is what happens if the attack never come, does he still do the jump and low kick and leave a wide door open for countering or does he just stand there with major recovery. (Last one seems silly)

If none of the above, maybe he recovers fast after the first flip if there is no attack… and then the ultra will not be as dangerous to counter with…

Anyways, does he`s chickenwing seem to go higher to anyone?

I didnt get to see much of fei in the stream, but did anyone see if the chicken wing hits overhead?

Man if it was the entire green hornet outfit with hat and everything it would be cool actually. He reminds me of robin too much in that one.

Also today I won a match at a tournament vs Sagat when he whiffed a sweep in front of me and I whiff punished with the first ultra. I just thought to myself “damn, I never could have done that with the second ultra, I’m so glad I’m not using that shit”.

I want him as fast as ST, but be able to cover more ground than he did. I mean, it’s cool that he dominates the opponent when they are close, but I feel certain moves he have like chicken wing and rekka should be good pokes/combo string starters. Some new moves will be nice too; this isn’t ST lol

Ultra I

Surely the best thing you guys can hope for in Super is that they buff Fei’s Ultra I so that he can FADC into it.

Counter ultra may have uses against some of the cast, but yeah, a buffed Ultra I is what you guys really need.
No more of that hit twice/three times BS you have been putting up with for so long.

Of course, I agree having two useful Ultra’s is ideal - but I cant imagine they will take counter ultra’s out at this point and if they at least made your other one useful then Fei might finally come alive.

He cannnnnnn FADC into ultra: MK.DP xx FADC, HK.CW, ultra. Bam.

Hits for 480 damage. Only works against Honda now, but if they fix it it could easily work on anyone. Add j.HK, cl.HP at the start and you get 553.

Compare that to Ryu: DP xx FADC, ultra does 478. Add j.HK, cl.HP and you get 565. Same meter usage, reasonably equivalent damage.

There’s no need for the full animation – what he has does the job. It might not be flashy but it does what it needs to do, and it does it well. You’re talking damage that’s virtually square with the guy with one of the best ultra setups in the game. Don’t talk about Sagat: he’s retardedly powerful and will be getting a nerf anyway.

Also keep in mind that I used the HP.DP for Ryu and that now hits for double in Super. Whether you can FADC that into ultra remains to be seen. If not, the MP.DP replacing the HP.DP in the above string yields the following: 458 and 549 damage respectively. In this instance, Fei Long can do more damage off the same setup. Ryu may have more setups overall, but if you want 1000 ultra setups, play Ryu. Fei has other tools – just so happens he has that one, too.

He’s fine. Just change the vertical hitboxes on the odd punches, and/or increase the juggle height to guarantee the hits. You would also need to fix CW to work in juggles against all opponents. It currently doesn’t but I’m sure it’s an easy fix.

Honestly I really would prefer the first hit of his ultra to just ground people. That way if you hit them out of the air with it (blanka ball / headbutt) you still get the combo. That would deter a lot of shit right there.

I mean there’s that pretty animation there that they worked to put in the game. I really wish they would make use of it.

But I agree, ultra 1 being useful is more important than whatever they do with ultra 2. Even if it stays a shit command grab, I won’t have lost faith in Fei unless you also can’t juggle the first ultra.

Then it doesn’t work, if it only works on one person then don’t bring it up, that just hurts the fact that its a poorly made ultra. Why of the dash ultras in this game is his piss poor slow? Why diidn’t they just make it like chun/abels? Oh that’s right, they were trying something new that failed.
