Make his rekkas safe again!!!
They badly need to buff Fei all around, but especially in his Ultra department. Right about now the only good thing about it is how frigging cool it is.
I thought of another tweak. How about EX Rekkas crumple stuns on the final hit? That’d be amazing. That or wall bounce.
Mostly I’m really feeling making all chicken wings the same on block and hit, and the kick strength determines range and length of invincibility.
But then his ultra wouldn’t be much different then his super, not to mention juggling off of ultra wouldn’t work if Fei shot forward like that.
Iv’e heard there’s wall bounces in the new game, so im guessing, fei is gonna be one of the wall bounce characters, considering how hard his rekkas are he could smash um into the wall. I hope they come through with that, it there really putting wall bounces into there. Obviously you could prolly do a cw if you have a wall bouce, maybe an ultra if they buff him far enough. The other characters i think will get the wall bounce buff is, rose, dan, and honda. All considering they have a move that sends you flying, and arent that much of a tier character. I dunno bout honda’s tier though, not interested in that guy.
Why is Fei so damn slow in this game? That needs to be fixed.
Im not too knowledged on the whole mechanics of sf4 and really not that experienced if any at all as far as playing, but fei seems to pause real quick on ending of his forward dash. Well atleast jus how it seems to me.
Yeah there is a delay at the end of it, it’s kinda dumb. They should take that out. No telling how many tiger shots I’ve dashed my face/balls in to.
That delay really sucks, no doubt… offcourse Ive had that same experience with tiger shots, hadokens and all the other shit thats thrown at me…
If it didnt have that delay, possibilities of rushing would increase and it could have been used in a whole new way.

Anyways, Im thinking about these new characters, and trying for fun to analyze, how i would play them with Fei, and how the matchups would go.
Im leaning towards Dee Jay as the most difficult, because of the projectile, and hes reasonable speed.
T hawk, seems to me as very doable and not another Giant gief nightmare.
Juri, looks to me like a waiting game, much like cammy.
But its just guesses offcourse.
But heres to hoping that they will not forget to give Fei the right tools and the right buff to deal with all these new challengers.
Im by the way very excited about the 3 latest additions, cody, guy, adon, everything points in the direction of offensive types… as it looks to me.
Honestly the more I play Fei the more I think one of the biggest things he needs is just more damage. He has some decent tools that need a little work but he still needs so many openings to kill the other guy. He really really really needs a buff in that department because the longer the opponent is alive, the longer they have to land DP >> Ultra.
I could certainly sign up for that, just a slight buff i that apartment, and i dont know how many matches would have gone my way, instead of a loss.
It is frustrating when you feel you have so many hits… and really are in control, and then still lose.
Eating Sagat’s ultra when you activate yours after his is always fun. If it was reliable, I wouldn’t have too many complaints about Fei, but you can’t depend on focus attack to get all your openings, he just becomes a 1 trick pony.
Yeah with such low damage output, you’re gonna have to face a combo into ultra at some point in most matches so it really means you have to be on point and win by a long shot. It almost makes it feel like Fei has less health than other characters because he can’t utilize his ultra well while others can. No telling how many times I woulda beat Sagat / Ryu if I coulda just made that last push for damage easier and not ended up getting rammed in the ass from like 50% to death.
Some of you guys are pretty conservative with the buffs even after hearing S-Kill say that Sagat was getting better. I mean, I don’t know that match up at all, but it sounds like ppl are going to be getting Desert Eagles while y’all are asking for a sharper machete.
Just being realistic. If you want me to go apeshit on the buffs here’s what I’d do to break fei:
st.HK has sagat forward+HK properties.
New Ultra is a flying kick that goes full screen. Looks like the final kick in his ultra on a lower trajectory. Combos off juggles. Has immunity to fireballs. When it hits, he bounces them off the wall and then does a gigantic flame kick into the air and as they fall and hit the ground he lands with stereotypical bruce lee face stomp crush thing.
Original ultra goes into animation on first hit.
LK chicken wing immune to fireballs. All chicken wings can combo on hit and are ±0 on block. Chicken wing now overhead.
Rekkas do about 1.5x damage, no proration off of jabs. First and second hit safer on block. EX rekkas eat fireballs on frame one and wall bounce on final hit. EX rekkas also travel further.
Flame kicks have larger hit box and are invincible for 2 more frames.
LK tenshin now like regular command grabs in speed. HK Tenshin has longer range but slower, same range as EX version. HK version allows enough time for ultra. EX version is slow but has invincibility till after active frames.
Overhead is +4 on hit.
j.HP juggle state on hit.
New special move where fei pulls out nunchucks and does loops around his body. Not much damage and poor hit stun but deflects fireballs.

I actually hadn’t read your post and wasn’t replying directly to you but whatever, it’s a party.
What I like mostly about the regular posters on the Fei Board is an acute eye for making a balanced game not a broken one unlike the other boards.
I honestly can’t think of a single matchup where Fei is really and truly SOL in situations, unlike a variety of other characters (Like, say, Chun or Dhalsim after a knockdown from Rufus, Blanka vs matchup-savvy Sagat in general). His AA game is a bit trickier than it should be, but it’s still better than Guile’s non-EX FK. What I’m trying to say is that he really doesn’t need a whole lot to be a serviceable character. Just some stuff to boost his offence in a reasonable manner, because his defense isn’t lacking in the slightest.
I can think of quite a few match-ups although other than Sagat (can’t get close period), boxer (his cr. jab literally stuffs everything Fei can do except jump attacks but for that there’s headbutt, I can literally put autofire on jab and defeat Fei) and perhaps 'gief, it has to do more with not being able to combo into ultra.
To be honest, Fei vs. Ryu isn’t all that bad if Ryu didn’t have easy dp > ultra (which I still think as a lifelong Ryu player, was a bad idea). I’m not a fan of combo > ultra in general as it makes a good game stupid when a guys life is still at 50%.
Ultra IMO should have been capped to only do up (as in max but not necessarily the same amount) to the lifebar difference between you and an opponent prior to the start of a combo (that way Ultra means nothing if you are winning, why take revenge if you’re ahead) but never should be relied upon to win the game for you (you can’t really KO a person with an ultra).
After picking up Fei Long in SF4 (and playing him a bunch in SF2T), here’s what I’d like to see with Fei:
- Make c.MP/c.MK combo able into rekka’s, consistently.
- Change chicken wing motion to DP
- A few more frames of invincibility on chicken wing
- Give rekka options of going high-low
- Make the additional hits of rekka single button presses vs. more QCF + button
Reasons
- Chicken wing to DP motion: keeping that move more offensive.
- More frames of invulnerability with chicken wing may be a bit much, but I’m tired of it getting easily stuffed (if changing the motion to DP is out of the question).
- c.MP, c.MK into rekka would give another good BnB with good distance.
- Rekka options should be somewhat like Elf of Abel: start one way, but finish/mix up differently (Elf is great with this).
- Follow up rekka’s should be single button taps: a little bit easier to use, follow up.
