Hi SRK, I’m MadWorlder, and I’m starting a video series about me getting better as a 3s player. I’d appreciate any advice you can give me, just leave a comment in the thread or on my videos.

I look forward to hearing back from you all, any advice is welcome.
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very mad world mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It’s a very, very mad world … mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world
an interesting thing is that you already understand some of your own faults. you say you don’t like how you carry yourself to the corner because you’re charging the slash elbow, and that’s obviously true. for the most part, all the things i say to new people apply here. divide alex into categories: meaties and options you use when the person in knocked down (typically high/low/throw mixup and hitconfirms), moves you use as mid-range pokes, moves you use as jump-ins, etc. once you narrow it down to the bread and butter options, you can start paying closer attention to the other person.
the main thing you did wrong was that roundhouse slash elbow was used way too often. it’s slow, unsafe on block and it’s rarely necessary to use something to cover that much distance. LK elbow is safer and faster. don’t even use the MK and HK ones. also, the ex version can punish unsafe moves like ken’s sweep. charge while blocking the sweep, then do the ex. free damage and often guarantees a cornered ken. also, alex’s sweep is fine but save it for max poking distance. any closer than that and it becomes a big risk, and you might as well focus on closing in for alex’s grappling/mixup game. also, huge overall error: i never saw you use meter even once. you filled it up, then held onto it the entire time. punish sweeps with ex slash elbow, or check alex threads for bnbs that use meter (and everything else too).
6:28 was pretty funny though. a lot of online makotos get away with really poor karakusas, but that was just horrible. but i think you know why that happened (stop doing that move).

This is really shitty commentary, it might even be better to watch without volume…
Since making this, I’ve learned c.MP works very well against Dudley. However, I’m having a lot of trouble fighting Akuma. I play the match very patiently, parrying as many fireballs as I can and EX Air Stampeding when I can. However, Akuma always seems to command dash on wakeup and I’m left in the dust. What should I do?
if someone is successfully using demon slide to escape you, you’re standing too close to them on wakeup.
i don’t know what else you could mean by command dash.
don’t waste ex on stomp. save it for slashes and super.
you have like double the stamina of akuma. being patient benefits akuma, not alex.
you should never be afraid to be aggressive.
Mind giving some real advice rather than your opinion? I like Alex, he’s challenging and he suits my playstyle.
I do mean demon slide. Thanks for the advice.
Also, if every Ken I played who taunted after he won gave me advice instead, I could probably beat everyone here. The amount of disrespect is off the charts and it’s a huge turn off for anyone trying to learn the game.
I’ve been tinkering with Alex in recent months, and yeah, Chun and Dudley are probably my worst matchups whenever I play him. Alex’s hitbox is my biggest concern, since Q and Urien are only tall and not that wide. It can get tough to get in, so taking risks while Chun doesn’t have meter is my focus. The risk-reward ratio is usually in the opponent’s favor when it comes to Chun vs anyone; you just have to try and not get hit. Much easier said than done since Chun’s defensive game is way stronger than her offense, but that’s just how it is.
Mine are for sure Chun and Ken. Dudley can be punished with cr.MP, while Ken pushes Alex too far back for Alex to touch him with his stubby but wide appendages. Chun just kinda presses buttons and everything comes out faster than Alex.
cr.mp is not going to scare any half decent dudley.
no idea why you’re crouching on the other side of the screen as alex. i would try not even using slash elbow until you can get in on someone without it. right now you just use elbow as your only means of approaching. from that distance it is a free parry. offline especially.
