I think “the chains” might have been a metaphor albeit he arrived in chains as well. As far as Widmore’s agenda goes, we can assume that he’s in cohoots with smokie or he is in fact what’s keeping him there. And, as much as I hate to say this, I don’t think smokie is from Earth. The prospect that he’s an Alien of sorts is looking more and more likely. In fact, the island being a huge alien spacecraft that crash landed on earth makes WAY too much sense. Regardless, tonight we get to see a somehow alive Sayid and will be forced to endure the alternate flashes of Jack helping John Locke walk again, both of them becoming the best of friend and realizing that life is worth living. Hopefully Kate dies or something.
Man the multiple time lines have messed me up, does that timeline even exist now?
What you say is true, but the implication of that is Locke isn’t dead and he comes back to life like Jesus (that would explain the last supper promos). I also seem to remember Walt was much older when Ben shot Locke, they spent around 100 days on the Island before being rescued.
108 days, to be exact. And Locke IS dead, have no illusions about that.
Anyway, as far as the “Lost Supper” is concerned, it’s important to watch where everyone is looking. The “major” Main Characters are all looking toward Sayid, who seems very interested in “John Locke”, who, like Jacob, is wearing light blue. Ben, Hurly and Miles seem very interested in whatever Lapetus is doing. Jack looks like he’s trying to look down Kate’s shirt. Can’t blame him. But to compare this to the Last Supper, you need some key components that just arent here. There is no Judas Iscariot. Why? Because there is no ACTUAL Jesus figure. There could be several. At this point, the closest characters to Jesus are: Sayid due to coming back from the dead and being from the middle east. Jack, because he’s done “miracle” after miracle. John Locke because he tried to lead the flock, died and was seemingly resurrected and then of course theres the main one, Jacob, who goes out of his way to effect others. Who is put opposite all of the “dark” forces up to this point. His fountain is able to heal and his devout followers are willing to do anything for him.
Still, none of these characters quite meet the criteria for the Last Supper. Even “Locke”, who we now know to be dead and is currently being doppleganged by Smokie, doesn’t have a Judas other than Ben. On top of that, Jesus in the Last supper was “taking” with the right hand and “giving” with the left. That’s not really happening here. I wish they would have made it more accurate, but they didn’t.
The fact that he’s a child actor growing up in real life, as opposed to a fictional character? Growth spurt?
Maybe even regular growth?
Well, that’s just plain logical…
Very insightful, I willing to bet JJ Abraham isn’t one to ignore the details, he most likely knew exactly what he was doing when crafting that scene.
It will be interesting to see where this goes if jacob is resurrected as Sahid.
shit why didn’t I think of that
/sarcasm
Damn can’t wait for tonight. Josh your suggestion that the island is an alien space ship is scarily sounding true. How does an “island” sink, or move? There is only really 2 things that could causing all the weird phenomenon on the island. The super natural or some higher level technology. While there has been evidence of the super natural, such as Hugo seeing the dead and miles being able to talk to them, it may just be a side effect of the island’s tech. Why are there rules, and why does Jacob mention smokey is his oldest friend? Could he be some tech “programmed” to be unable to harm Jacob? Also there’s no reason not to believe that Jacob is a time traveler and the island is his time machine…
Be that the case, I doubt smokey would get angry for Jacob summoning people to the island. However, when Smokey referred to us as “They”, it creates a separation ,l like they aren’t or never were human.
they could be devine figures - like demigods
Have we seen Jacob and the other guy’s toes? Considering the temple and the evidence of Egyptian cultural all over the island theres indication that something was being worshiped there for a long time.
I like this theory, I agree I highly doubt Jacob is human, I just hope this isn’t a script Hurly is writting in his heading that he plans to send to George Lucas.
This is what I was thinking before that, if smokey is tech/AI it must have started out like a child, it has displayed child like traits where it is curious and toys with the survivers and then later throws a tantrum and kills. This is also why I think Smokey could have been Walt but matures to become more like Locke (similar to how John Henry develops in Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles).
Smokey wants off of the Island suggests that it may have left the island at some point, it maybe because of Jacob it is unable to which could be the whole reason behind killing him.
As to why smokey couldn’t kill Jacob himself, I think it might have been already been suggested that the rules are similar to that of I Robot.
Well, consider, the statue and everything else in the show has been Egyptian in nature. Like that Smokey supposedly “works” for Anubis, Hurley made a painting of a sphinx and the fact that there was a statue of Tawaret where Jacob lives. Remember, none of the women could give birth because of the statues destruction. We can assume the black smoke did this to prevent the people already on the island from producing more people he thought would just fight and bring destruction. Makes sense, really. If they ARE aliens, I think they just landed in the wrong spot or something or the island is actually “the underworld” or some other type of significant mythological egyptian location.
Still, how do Widmore and Eloise fit into all of this. They MUST have some kind of play in thye grand scheme of things. They were on the island for so long, so I find it hard to beleive they know nothing of Jacob and Smokey’s “power struggle”.
Those are some nice ideas. It might make some sense if hes on the black rock ship along with that chick…but it doesnt explain why he never ages and the other girl did.
The desmond thing is obvious though since hes the constant.
Ok, well, im pretty hype for this season!
Already got a monster bubler bowl packed for tonight.
Remember how Juliet “knew” it worked? Maybe her mind/consciousness was moving through time like Desmond’s was. Maybe even between both of the realities that had been created due to the hydrogen bomb exploding. How else would she know it worked?
As far as Hurley seeing the bald dude from Californication that told him to jump off the cliff, that had nothing to do with the smoke monster. That was just Hurley seeing his imaginary friend again.
As far as Walt, I think he was ‘different’. Remember, he made that bird appear when he was reading that bird book. And the polar bear after reading the comic book with the polar bear. And the others said he was “special”.
Questions I want answered:
-Who was the real Henry Gale?
-Why did Jacob touch some of the characters away from the island?
-What were Kate and Sawyer moving rocks for when they were prisoners?
-Why didn’t the others time jump with everyone else?
-Why did Claire abandon Aaron?
-Who built the statue, and how was it destroyed?
-Why did Charlie die for nothing? He told them it wasn’t Penny’s boat, but they came anyway.
-What are the origins of Jacob, Smoke monster, and Richard?
-Who are these others led by Shang Tsung and John Lennon?
-Why/how is the stuartist with the other Others?
And more…
Probably nothing, but I noticed that when they transition to the flash sideways or whatever they’re calling it, it kind of makes that smoke monstery clicking sound instead of the usual jet sound.
Yeah so what the fuck.
That was…fucked up.
Yeah so if this show is going to end in like 20 episodes then it should start being more significant then watching clouds.
Was the pissed off Other (Aldo I think) the other guy from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia?
Also, damn its the first time, I’ve seen a chick beside Rosseu, whose hair that actually looked like they had spent significant time in the wilderness.
