The LOST thread

Okay, I have recently done like a huge catch up on the show and after watching the last 3 seasons the one thing that stick out is why the hell didn’t Charlie swim out the porthole?!

If you remember, he barely even made it down there without dying and if he had waited for the water to settle anyway (holding his breath even longer), I doubt his body could handle the pressure of swimming back up to surface.

I see what you’re saying but if you think about him swimming down, he had to go underneath the station as well. If he went out the porthole which seemed to be at the side of the station, that might have cut a considerable amount of time for him to hold his breath.

I had asked this very same question to someone else to which they replied that it was because of what Demsomd had told him, which was something along the lines of that he had to die in order for Claire to live and get on the helipcopter because he envisioned it. But then my wife points out that he didnt need to die like that as so far we dont see Claire get on the chopper…

I actually believe that Desmond was lying about Charlie’s fate and Claire and the Chopper and now regretting that he let him die. That particular vision was not shown to us. Eloise told Des that he could not save Charlie. And we never see Claire get on any chopper. Aaron, yes. Claire no. Could it be that Desmond really is a coward somehow? We’ll have to wait.

Hmm I don’t know that scene looked like a pretty convincing drowning :wasted:

I enjoyed lasts weeks episode were Hugo and Miles are trying to work out how the time travelling works. Hugo points out why Ben doesn’t recognize Sayid, but I believe Ben being Ben he wouldn’t of told them that he knew them from the past. But he has always known alot about them even when they first arrived on the Island.

He just had his memory wiped. Maybe no one tells him that sayid put a cap in him.(?)

I’m not saying that Charlie lied about dying, but rather, that Desmond lied to Charlie about him saving Claire and Aaron. He was blowing smoke up his ass to get him to go shut down the looking glass, but I don’t believe the part about Claire and the helicopter. He lied, and I believe he feels guilty about it, which may be one reason he and Penny named their son Charlie.

You do realize in the same episode they explain why Ben doesn’t “remember” Sayid

Now, why exactly Kate gave Ben away forever to the Others when it’s not even her kid is a completely stupid to me. If I was Roger, I’d be one pissed off dad. I’m sure finding this out is what causes Roger to drink and drive, causing his death but still why would Kate do that other than to try to tie in the storyline? It seems real illogical.

Oh, and Desmond’s vision about Claire on the helicopter is just another in the long line of Lost plot holes I believe.

Well, Desmond does volunteer himself to go in when they are on the boat at the last second… then Charlie knocks him out to fulfill the vision.

Besides Kate being yet another stupid female, that’s the only explanation I got from it.
And Roger didn’t die from drunk driving, Ben gassed him to his death.

That’s right, just thinking back to when Sawyer and Jin were drinking stale, probably poisonous 30 year old beer they found in his van. Lost is so awesome.

Ben is all about having the facts, why would you think nobody would tell him? Remember he does become “the others” leader.

I do not think Desmonds vision of Claire will be a plot hole. We know Desmond is effected by time travel like the others, and Kate has promised to bring Claire back. She will probably do that, and that what Desmond saw he just didnt know when it happened.

Richard clearly states that he “will forget this ever happened”. Richard doesn’t even know who Sayid is at this point, and if Ben’s memory of Sayid is erased… how could he ever figure it out? Not only that, why would Ben try so hard to get Sayid back on the island if he, supposedly, knew that Sayid was already going to go back anyway to the island to shoot him as a kid? Makes no sense to me.

dammit missed the first 3 quarters of the show. Last part was
Awesome though! Desmond’s like “lol RAWR”. Ben got owned hard.

I dont buy this ben-memory-wipe explanation. He lived with Sawyer, Juliet, and Miles for 3 years as a kid, did he forget that too? He remembers his Dad post-wipe, so he has to remember something.

Smoke monster alex would SO get it.

“Me and this gentleman are going to take this boat. Does anyone else have a problem with that?”
Ben is THE MAN

Who knows if they will go more in-depth with his past. I don’t think it’s a stretch that a child could forget 3 people his dad worked with over a stretch of over a decade.

The father part got me thinking, too. I mean, was it selective memory erasing?

More like two decades, seeing as Kid Ben is preteen, and the Ben we’re familiar with is in his late 30s.

That was legendary! The fact that he so nonchalant about it was the icing. But that is Ben…

What happened to ben’s glasses. Do they have a lasik bay there? I can’t see him fiddling with contacts
