The actor who plays Richard has eyebrows that are naturally weird. It has caused him a lot of problems getting roles in hollywood because of his “mascara” look, but filmakers say those are his natural eyebrows.
about the Lamp Post, CS Lewis reference? Some things def line up for it.
This could be the exact reason he has this role. And they’re not eyeborws. Those are the things ABOVE the eye. I’m referring to under his eyes.
Yup, directly. But I imagine they wrote these things to match up with that.
Just complete speculation. We know the island is linked to Tunisia through the wheel chamber. Considering the resemblance of the ancient statue to the god Horus, I wouldn’t leave it out of the question for at one time in its history, there to be link the other way from Africa. Possibly it was a way for an ancient civilization to travel back and forth to the island (Egyptians?).
Still in question is how did Eko’s brother, Yemi, plane get to the island. I hope this stuff is explained.
Just caught up. God damn I love this show. Ben doing what he did in episode 7 really didn’t surprise me at all, it’s Ben after all.
does anyone else thing that Rose and Bernard are Adam and Eve in the cave?
If they both died after the early flashes they would have died way back in time (like Charlotte) and jin and the group have been on the island for 3 years and there is no mention of them so they are probably dead.
Actually, not to nitpick, but mascara is actually something to accentuate the eyelashes–makes them bolder/thicker/clump together slightly. What you’re talking about is eye liner, which is used (usually) directly beneath the bottom eyelid to outline the contour of the eyes.
And just to quash your automatic response, no, I’m not gay. Haha.
You do have a good point about Alpert being an Egyptian god type character. The statue, Alpert’s immortality (which is not related to time travel considering how shocked Alpert was to hear of Locke’s time traveling story), the ankh of Michelle Dessler’s husband. . .it all seems to point to Alpert as being some kind of Egyptian-styled deity.
You really went indepth there, nice.
Others prefer to keep it simple

Why doesnt
stuff
work? Is that only for IMM?
This is great. I love reading all types of speculations, no matter how farfetch’d they sound, as long as the person explaining them can somehow back them up with facts from the show.
When Season 2 was starting I remember reading some crazy time travel speculations that explained the island. The writers of the show claimed there was no time traveling…but they also had no written the rest of it and pretty much come up with a lot of stuff on the spot. Lo and behold the time travel speculations came through. I know the writers read through the message boards and read what everyone else nitpicks or things they oversee and write it into the show. Maybe someone will read your post and write the story around it.
That or the writers ‘lied’ to not spoil the series.
Touche, good sir.
Pffft. Fuck your reasonable and well thought out explanation.
…but that’s what Ben would do
Lol, hell fucking yeah! I wonder if they realized it before me…
^I like your theory
You got any ideas on what the whole Jacob/Christian/Clair thing might be about?
That mascara thing was a jab at the fact that everyone thinks the actor wears excess makeup, when in fact he doesn’t. It’s his natural look. I can’t believe you extrapolated the reference to Egyptian mythology. :bluu:
Well, J.J. Abrams is a very careful man in his writing. The line Sawyer made about “mascara” or whatever was there to be caught. There’s just… way too much there to be ignored.
As far as Jacob goes, no. I haven’t the foggiest what the dealis with his characters. With all the time stuff that happens… let’s just say this whole part of the show becomes very predestiny. Fine, I’ll explain.
Ben spoke to Jacob in the cabin, yes? Well, that means that Jacob HAS TO BE there when Ben needs him to be to talk to. But, Jacob was seemingly replaced by Christian and was so prominent, he was even there in the past when John needed him. So, if Christian’s “ghost” is able to exist in the past, does that mean he was already dead? Id est: was his spirit there before he was dead, being that this is all a paradox?
If you REALLY want to know what I think, I think Jacob might be Jack in Jack’s personal “future” (“future” because it’s technically the past). I think he might have had to take on an alias in order to communicate with Ben and whoever else.
As far as Clair goes… Christian just wanted to meet his daughter.
The question you SHOULD be asking is this: Did Richard Alpert want the Dharma people to bury people 3 feet in the ground so they would or wouldn’t become ghosts? Does being buried somewhere on or around the island make it so you’re able to be “reborn” or come back in ghost form? Some people just aren’t connected to the island, others are.
Are you chiding me or complimenting me?
Did ya’ll know that The Doctor just totally completely roxxors? He does.
I found the eyeliner (It wasn’t mascara) thing to be completely out of place, but totally obvious as a plant for info. I’ve been thinking they were going to play up that aspect of Richie in due time, but I did not know that it was the actor’s natural facial feature. Is it his eyebrows, or the “eyeliner” effect around his eyes that is natural? If it does in fact have something important to do with the story, then this might just be the most awesome casting call ever in T.V. history.
Is everyone on here in agrement that the statur looks like horus? I cant tell from the back view, but, it looks like the statue has dog ears like anubis. Horus doesnt have ears I know that, so any of the other feline/dog gods might fit better. we’ll probally just have to wait and see. Now why the four toes? maybe a different statue all together… or maybe one of the toes was broken off. I cant remember how that foot looked now.
this is just one page, its actually interesting, reading the different stories, because you can start to draw alot of links to the egyptian stuff. in seth’s story here the bulk of the plot is based on bodies “not being buried properly” for resurection.

actually read anubis’ story to, because it is about how he existed at the hall of the dead, once you arrived there your heart was judged… interesting stuff.
