The LOST thread

It’s either Horus, or some whackjob creation by the writers inspired by eygptian mythology.

^^^ Read that.

Are we confident that Jack’s dad’s ghost really traveled to the past? Anybody thought of why the chamber would exist that far back without an entrance (the well hadn’t been built yet). Has anybody considered that maybe the chamber exists independent of the normal flow of time? If the chamber had not been built yet shouldn’t Lock be in solid rock?
Just some speculation.

The real question is, who built a magic chamber with a wooden wheel that can apparently move an island through time? :bluu:

You assume it may be a constant and you may be right. The wheel was still in flux when he got there. But, where the wheel IS is obviously still effected by time, so there’s your answer to that. Kind of surprised you’d question a magical, time-traveling well on an island filled with ghosts and who knows whatever the hell else. Are you also curious how people so small are able to trow Potemkin? or perhaps the some characters in fighting games have fireballs. CRAZY SHIT! But we… cast disbelief aside.

No, I question everything about the show. I just chose that one particular point, since it was being currently discussed. Let’s all learn about context today.

Oh, my bad, I was directing that at Zinac. I agree with you.

so i hear lost isnt gonna be on tonight, is this true?

This isn’t concerning the suspension of disbelief. I’m concerned with the origins of the wheel chamber, if it has origins at all. The best explanation I can come up with is that the chamber is traveling with the survivors and thus why it exists so far in the past (and the wheel still being off its axis even though it was dislodged by Ben in the future).

How does Richard not know about the wheel/time travel? Also the Horus statue you guys mentioned, does it only have four toes?

Birds have 4 ‘toes’ don’t they? It would make sense.

I don’t know if it was mentioned yet, search isn’t bringing up anything but I’m taking the short route here and say that it’s probably Taweret, goddess of fertility and birth. Hence women not being able to successfully give birth after it was destroyed.

Good call!

wow brilliant, hope this is exactly how it plays out! Claire?

Ah, nice. The back of the statue looks a lot like that, and makes a lot more sense than Horus.

HOly shit.

+Repped.

Nice call! The most important thing is that it only has 4 toes. Yeah, the ankh is key to this mystery. The fact that Horace’s name is Horus might just be coincodence. (or a clever way to throw us all off)

Haha, I went to the Taweret Wiki pages, and there was a note on top saying “Ipy” redirects here. For the acronym “IPY,” see International Polar Year", which contained tons of polar bear pictures.

Lost is clearly a Wikipedia analogy.

But we’ve already discussed all of that!

Something that I realized after reading all of that is why exactly did Richard get Ben to join the “others” in the first place? Was he told to do so by a higher power? Did he just want the upper hand in the “war” or perhaps Ben plays more of a role than I thought. That excerpt you posted IWST mentioned Anubis. Ben might be Anubis in all of this. Everything thing he touches seems to whither and die except things that are greater than him.

Also, as far as Tawaret goes, I have no doubt in my mind that Amy was able to have the baby because of the “protection” granted by the ankh given her by Paul. With that being said, I think we can officially say that the island is Egyptian in nature. So, with that bein said, we can more safely make assumptions about the show. So, once again, we’re being shown that the faithful are rewarded while the non-believers are punished. John is seemingly immortal while those who did not believe (oceanic 6) seemed to have nothing but bad things happen to them. Well, all but Kate, who escaped going to prison. But she could hardly get to the island if she were in prison for murder…which brings up another good question…

How DID Hugo get out of jail and someone was able to book an international flight without setting off any warning signs?
