Heller and Vonnegut interview:
Been starting to read the Quâran, itâs really interesting and beautifully written, like poetry.
RIP Garcia Marquez.
I should read One Hundred Years of Solitude already.
UmmâŚhas anyone read Beloved by Toni Morrison?
âBest work of American fiction of the past 25 yearsâ my ass. This novel is absolutely horrid.
â
Iâll try to read Catch-22 some time in the future.
Read Catch-22 now. Itâs great.
Reading through 1Q84 right now. This dude is obsessed with genitals holy shit.
Possibly the worst shit my eyes have read in my entire fucking life.
Catch-22 is on my book list but I want to read all of George Orwellâs stuff first since I already have it.
The end time/revelations in the Quâran is hardcore. Islamic Jesus is top tier.
I started One Hundred Years of Solitude last week, but not of my own choice though. My english teacher informed us that he died during Spring Break. Although I dislike having to read one of his works for the sake of school, I respect the guy and wish he had a peaceful passing.
When I finish reading it(and itâs pretty long as hell), Iâll try to offer some kind of reflection over the book.
@â raz0r
Iâll get a copy of catch 22 during the summer when Iâm no longer dealing with the bullshit of high school lol.
Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson is pretty good. Canât wait for Book 3.
Not sure how you guys feel about Star warsâ EU, but you all should read Star wars The Old Republic: Revan
Couldnât put the book down once I started it.
I will say one thing about Catch-22: Itâs fucking HILARIOUS throughoutâŚuntil the final chapter. Then itâs just one hell of a grim portrait.
Iâm STILL readying 1Q84. Holy shit is this story long as fuck. Iâve read one play and another novel while going through this tome.
Been reading âWealth of Nationsâ by Adam Smith lately.
Oh noâŚ
Started Dune on Monday (I think?) I havenât been able to put it down.
Read the Fate Of The Jedi series. Disney should use elements of Fate of The Jedi
Been reading Frankenstein lately. Not sure why I decided to pick that one up, just had a sudden urge to check it out. Really interesting since my only exposure to the story up until now were the Boris Karloff movies and Young Frankenstein.
Since the last time the thread was bumped:
Dune - Started a little slow, even there is so much information in the beginning. Once things start to pop off its like an avalanche. So good. That last speech by Jessica made me tear up a little.
No Country for Old Men - I fuckin loved this book. It took me about a chapter to get used to McCarthyâs style but once I did oh man. I liked it so much I installed the Blood Meridian audiobook on my phone the next morning.
The Giver - Kidâs book I read it because my friend was talking a lot about it last time I saw her. Plus her birthday is next month and Iâve been making a conscious effort to give more books away.
Lastly I started Neuromancer for like the 3rd time and Iâm actually going to finish it since I donât have a metric fuckton of homework any more
Gonna go sign up for a library card this weekend I think and only buy books I really really like.
No Country for Old Men is an amazing book. I recommend it to everyone.
I finished 1Q84. Murakami has a weird obsession with sex. I thought it was just for this book but sex is a prominent force in every one of his short stories, too. Has the guy seen genitals once in his life and has since written about them in hopes to see them again? Anyway, the third book of 1Q84 sucked noodles. It leaves so many open stories to wrap up the story. It also gets a quite repetitive in narrative, though I guess that can be excused because youâre seeing the perspective from three different characters. I loved the second book, first was alright and it did suck me in. The third, man, it was just very disappointing.
Iâm reading Pride and Prejudice right now. Itâs hilarious.
I also want to recommend George Saunderâs Tenth of December. Itâs a collection of ten short-stories and itâs a read you can finish in a weekend, but those stories are all pretty great. I think SRK would get a kick out of all of his stories.
Gave No Country to my dad. I think heâll like it. It is really good
