here’s an idea for another concept/project that this project could enable… excuse me if it’s been suggested elsewhere but bear with me whilst i explain;
say i have a mad catz te and i want to play mk9 using the replacment mk9 panel but currently my joystick has the original te panel with its 8 button layout on it. my mk9 panel has buttons already in it but no stick so i’ll have to transfer between the 2. those familiar with changing will know how labour intensive this. and it has to be repeated EVERY single time i switch. with this quick disconnect i can mount the stick to the base of the the mad catz and just leave that part alone, just pop the ball top off and the panel and buttons can be taken off without the stick coming with it so all i need to do is disconnect/connect the buttons. now imagine my panels have been modded with a dock type connection so i don’t even have to worry about individual buttons. all i have to do is lift the panel off then put the other on and because of the dock there is just 1 connection. this would speed up changing soooooooooo much.
Edit: Forgot to say… basically the project is a top panel dock system lol
i don’t have the time and means to do anything myself, maybe a ghetto version at a push, but i think it’s a good idea for a project for someone which wouldn’t be possible without this quick disconnect stick.
Talked with my contact, I think the plan now is to have a possible beta run completed by next weekend. He’s been overseas so contacting him hasn’t been easy :p. However, with the current state of things a full run won’t be able to be complete before EVO, so basically that leads me to this:
The Link will be at EVO for sale, so if you want one of the first batch find me while you’re there.
Beta testing will be done concurrently with fab house quotation/sampling. How many beta units I don’t know just yet, but I appreciate the enthusiasm from people and the ideas coming my way.
You, me, and the others need to go out for a drink while we’re there
Got a buddy that’s going? If you do, you could always have him be your proxy. I can’t promise available units right away when I get back (but I’ll definitely try), so definitely try and have someone find me if you can.
I got to give you a ton of credit on this. Its a wonderful design.
I hope to see you get this product to market. I think it’ll sell really well.
Count me in for a purchase once they hit the street.
Thanks, actually the air coupling was the model for it. My original drawing/idea wasn’t cutting it so my contact suggested going this route, it’s a bazillion times better now.
I want to see how these might play with the mini cases, that really would be the best travel stick ever then.
Cool. I actually modded one of my cases to accept a JLF. You wouldn’t happen to want to work out a deal for a ministick case in exchange for a 2 links? 1 for the beta and later when you get the production run. I can change the panel to accept a JLF. I have 3 cases left.
Similar for sure. The car steering wheel quick disconnect have splines and ball bearings. I had an awesome sparco one my old car. Next up, car parts on an arcade stick.
