The Link: The Quick-Disconnect JLF Shaft!

California? The Link would be 30$ and then 6$ for priority shipping via USPS, 4$ for first class.

Need some help!

I was taking off the balltop and putting on a new one on my shaft, and the spring that is supposed to be in the shaft came out!

I was looking at pictures, and I noticed that the spring doesn’t normally stick out at all, unfortunately when I first got this stick the spring was sticking halfway up the shaft. Sometimes I noticed myself twisting it and the shaft would lose the spring action, but then I twisted it the other way and it became springy again, but it looks like I accidentally twisted it too far.

Is there a way I can get the spring back into the bottom part of the shaft?

Sorry for not getting back to this sooner. Were you able to slink the spring back into place by twisting the collar or is it still out of place?

Update:

I’m sending a restock to FA today, note that they are getting 30 units and other than the colored versions that I have, that is all that is left. I suggest that if you’re in a “I’ll pick one up later” state of mind, you will want to jump on it. I say this because I don’t know when I’ll have new ones made. I need to think of how to proceed with this project and it may be some time. Even if I were to place an order TODAY it would take at least 6-8 weeks to get the parts before I could even start to assemble them, and an order today isn’t happening.

I took a risk with this project, and it’s been crazy cool to see it come to fruition like this. Unfortunately I can’t just turn around and get more produced, so I need to take a step back and try to decide how I want to approach the next build.

As I said, I still have the colored ones depicted in my previous post, but even that’s not a whole lot.

I hope you can keep going with these! I love mine and my lady loves her’s. I’m looking forward future versions of this for other sticks and possibly that keychain attachment ;D Good Luck!

I just figured out how to get the spring in, thanks! lol I gave up on it until I saw you reply, ironically.Used a toothpick to get one end of the spring all the way in then just twisted it all the way.

Now christmas is over, finally fitted my white link to my QanBa and I love it!

Anyone know where I can get a white 24mm button blank to use as a cover?

(On that note, after removing the inner dust washer is there a danger that the pivot might fall out?)

Thanks very much to Phreakazoid for the ace product and service!

  1. I don’t think anyone makes different colored 24mm button hole covers
  2. No. The bottom base-part clamps the pivot down. The inner dust washer actually doesn’t do anything other than stop dust that might’ve gotten past the outer dustwasher. It doesn’t do anything to “keep the pivot from falling out”.

I thought that was the case, but just wanted to check. Thanks for the clarification.

And I’ll go for a black button-plug, then. Cheers!

have any of you guys gotten the one with the black shaft yet (one on the left)

some of these i experience the dead zone

I truly love this product i’m so sad i need to send back to master clayton

what i notice is when i put them in the mcz se they there where no dead zones (probably not a logical assement)

but in the TE the deadzone was really enhanced.

craze

The ones with the black base are the ones with the adjusted deadzones; those should feel exactly the same as the regular JLF shaft.
The ones with the regular stainless steel bases are the original ones with the “enhanced deadzone”.

Keep in mind that the Mad Catz SE uses a JLF clone, and the sizes/tolerances are probably not the same as the usual JLF.
The TE uses a Sanwa JLF, and if you used one of the stainless ones in that, it’s expected to feel the extra deadzone.

thank you Freedom Gundam i’ve contacted Clayton!

i’m glad i can hold on to at least two of these while he fixes the rest

craze

damn more that need to be adjusted (JFYI) I do the adjusting not Clayton. How old are those links? only adjusted ones have been available for a while

What colors do you have left?

Most all of them, I think I’m short on black ones though. Looking for any color in particular?

Ok, so here’s something I decided to try out based on Craze’s comments just above, and might help a lot of people.

I have two Links that still had a bit of the deadzone issue
It’s no news Mad Catz imitation JLF parts appear to have slightly different tolerances than Sanwa JLF parts. So I popped out a pivot cylinder from one of my Mad Catz imitation JLF that came from a TvC/Brawlstick, and took a set of calipers to them. The diameter of the inner hole was a few hundredths of a millimeter more narrow than that of a stock JLF pivot cylinder.

So I swapped both JLF pivot cylinders with Mad Catz ones.
On one stick (with a virtually brand new JLF), the deadzone issue was pretty much completely gone.
On the other (with a well-used JLF), the combination of the swapped pivot cylinder as well as a stiffer spring (LS-55) provided a result that was much better than either of the solutions individually.

I suppose your mileage may vary, depending on your actual Mad Catz pivot cylinder. But it might be a viable quick solution to those with a stockade of Mad Catz parts from TvC and Brawlsticks.

@RosserRooster

dude I really appreciate it!

I was buying them from focusattack for a while early last year.

@FreedomGundam

i’m glad i was not totally out of my mind i have allot of stick parts sitting around i might have put the stock SE pivot cylinder in on the really loose TE i was experiancing

could be my bad

boo

@Phreakazoid

thank you for standing behind your product, i can’t not tell you how this boosted my confidence in purchasing goods from the FGC.

While it’s also already been addressed, there is no 24mm button hole plug in any other color than black.
The link you provided at FocusAttack is for a 30mm hole.

How can I currently get one of these?

can this be used with a bat top?
