Thank you, and yes it was, I definitely hit the goal I had hoped to hit.
Speaking of which, the order has been placed so now I just need to play the waiting game for about 6 weeks’ish. Not a chance in hell these won’t be complete by Season’s Beatings though. I’m just hoping they’ll be done with plenty of time beforehand so I can put a ton together to get out to the pre-order peoples. I can’t wait to see how they turn out.
Thanks to everyone who put in a pre-order, it’s hugely appreciated.
Heh, actually have a bit of an update for you and all the pre-order people.
So I got a surprise email today from the fab house, my job got into queue faster than I anticipated and they will have this project on the machines first thing tomorrow morning. This means that I may get these end of September if I’m lucky enough, which would easily allow me to put together and ship out all units pre-ordered well before I leave for SB. No promises, but let’s cross our fingers and hope this turns out exactly like that.
Now, here’s the deal for everyone else. I will be filling all pre-orders as soon as possible, BUT Season’s Beatings WILL be the official release… meaning I won’t be taking open orders until afterward. I assume that most people following this thread closely put in for a pre-order, but those who haven’t should see if they know anybody going to SB if they aren’t coming out. I’m mostly following through with the SB release and not selling openly beforehand simply because I’m insanely swamped atm so I’d like to get a bit of buffer time to get things in order.
Anywho, I’ll post up as more things fall into place
I got done testing out a sample from the machine shop, in particular the new base piece. Let’s just say that anyone worried about a disconnect while playing will have nothing to worry about, in fact… my testing showed you may be able to pick up the entire damn stick and wing it around from the balltop without a disconnect, lol. I don’t exactly have a force measurement for it, but I was testing it out sword in the stone style and it wouldn’t budge, and yet moving the collar a short distance released with ease, couldn’t be happier with it.
For people itching to get their pre-order or planning to get one AT SB, It’s looking like an ETA of just before SB… like the beginning of that week. We’ll see how things go, but I’m crossing my fingers to get everything the Friday prior so I have the weekend to put them all together. I’m really getting excited for this either way.
Just for giggles I took my highly modified TE (which I def. don’t want to drop 5 feet) and held it only by the balltop and spun it around like you see the old cowboys do with a lasso. At first I held the other side of the TE because I was a bit scared but eventually let go and yeah… no moving, lol. The beta units couldn’t do this, the production ones can, it’s pretty sick.
Yessir, no 1/8" bit this time around so that people with a TE can use the hex key I package with the unit to do nearly the whole install, save for removing the e-clip, which you can actually put back into place with your fingertips (we reduced the diameter of the groove so it’s not ridiculously tough to put back in).
You should definitely do a crazy video infomercial style of you doing this.
Also I had the chance to see one of the prototype (?) ones of these a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty slick. Another thing that came to mind was the there’s a good chance that the disconnected part will fit in the cable compartment of TE and Qanba QRAF4 sticks.
Oh god no, I don’t condone doing that… just in case, but it was more for comparison to the beta units. You’d still run the risk of fucking up the JLF assembly in general if you do that even if there isn’t disconnection, I was worried I was going to do the same so I stopped.
