The Link: The Quick-Disconnect JLF Shaft!

Working on it, no new information as of yet though. That may change tonight, we’ll see.

Cool…just posting out of impatience. Lol

Ugh… finally going to get the final samples from the shop… a week late but whatever.

Tomorrow is going to be retarded busy, gonna have to stock up on a lot of beer lol. New stickers came out pretty decent though, should be fun to show off.

Got my stickers with my hex keys. Mmm~ Would I be able to buy some off you at some point? The purple ones are gorgeous. Of course, I’m gonna definitely nab another shaft when they’re available to UK members  People at tournaments here see me pop it on all the time and are like ":open_mouth: you have one of those?!?!?"
Seems your shafts are making waves over here too haha!

Do you have anymore pre-order left??? Or do I have to wait until the production is mass produce???

Yeah definitely, I sent the purple ones specifically since I figured you’d like that version :p.

Glad to hear it’s being recognized over there too, I hope I can get it to UK customers fairly soon after launch. Just need to get some stuff in order first, it’s been an insane week so far

Pre-orders have been closed for a while, just hang tight, production units are close to being released.

Speaking of which, after a crazy ass night/morning, I will for sure have stock available to bring with me to Season’s Beatings. Unfortunately, due to the serious time delays I won’t be able to fill the pre-orders until AFTER this weekend. I apologize wholeheartedly but there is literally no way I can fill them out in time AND prepare for this weekend.

Also, final note. These final versions do NOT have the same hold strength as the one I tested previously, they have a bit more strength than the beta units (for those who have messed with them), but they will come apart if you pull hard enough, so don’t go picking up your heavy TE by the ball top. It’s something I’m looking into for the next run, but otherwise they perform identical to the beta units… so I’m very happy about that.

Here’s a question that I’m not sure has been answered clearly, and I figure now might be a good time with all the people who’ve tried out the beta units and Phreakazoid having received the final product: on a JLF that’s mounted at the correct height (24mm from play-surface to bottom of balltop), how much does the bottom part of the Link shaft stick out from the hole?

Just wondering, For those who did preorder, when can they expect to receive their Links?

It sounds like they’ll be going out next week sometime; when I asked him on Twitter, Phreak said he wasn’t positive when they’re all going out. They just got to him slightly too soon before SB to get all of them shipped.

From the looks of it, they will be shipped after Season’s Beatings if I had to guess.

When do u think can we order these amazing shafts!

Yes he will begin shipping orders as soon as he returns from SBO. He really wanted to ship out pre-orders first but there were challenges with the manufacturing (which are now resolved). Also keep in mind that there were 200 some odd pre-orders. He can only assemble and stuff so many USPS flat rate boxes a day =D

Probably in a couple of weeks and likely through some online retailers. Phreak may not sell direct to the public, so he can focus on other projects (and on his new house / bride)

From the plastic half-ball joint piece, it’s .5" vertically, so far from what I’ve seen (with the exception of the rtdzign mini-case) it’s flush with any panel at the correct mounted height. For example, on a Round 1/2 TE it’s flush, on an SSF4 style with the slightly thicker panel it’s about 1mm below the plane.

This is correct, I’ll keep people posted. While I do have some left over from SBV it’s not near enough, and I won’t get the rest of the parts until some time this week. I’ll do my best to try and get them out before this upcoming week is over. I literally assembled units the night before I left for SB so there was no time at all to pack pre-orders.

I’ll have to see how things go, but this is probably a spot on assessment.

I fucking adore my Link. I even switched from an LS-32 back to JLF just to use it. I’ve been showing it off everywhere. I was going to post a video/picture with the LED in the bottom shaft, but Gummowned beat me to it. 5800mcd LEDs came through a little dim, but it worked. I’ve ordered some 11000mcd 3mm LEDs, and I’ll see how they work with that.

Any idea where i can find this gummowned vid?

For the sake of my eyes and everyone with a mile or so, please tell me you mean ‘mcd’ and not ‘lumen’

Ha. Eyes. I see what you did there. You’ll have to excuse me, as I only have one right now. I obviously meant mcd.

Speaking of mcds, I noticed I have some pink 11000 mcd ones laying around. I can’t sleep because my fucking eye hurts, so I may throw this in there and see if it makes it more noticeable.

How difficult would it be to mount the LED at the top of the shaft, and have it activate like one of those lamps where the user basically completes the circuit? That way any time your hand was touching the stick the ball would light up. I guess you wouldn’t want active current running up the link so you’d have to create an isolated path on the inside of the shaft that connects to a spot inside the base, then use the player as the ground. Hmmmm

Nah, that aint gonna work. If you mount the LED at the top, you’d need a full circuit. You could have the shaft itself be one half, but you’d need another separate from the shaft to complete the circuit. Running current through people is usually frowned on, but worse, skin conductivity is like 60k ohm according to my meter. Not enough to run a visible LED, morality and the whole ‘how to make separate contact with flesh’ aside. If you used a wire going through the hollow, then it wouldnt be removable defeating the purpose except as a hollow shaft.
