that artwork…is fuckin nice. I wouldn’t mind having that in some type of scroll form to hang up somewhere. I would pay money that I don’t have for it lol.
reading that hands on has me hype. I’m gonna make sure come hell or high water regardless of what’s going on to make sure I have my 3DS before this game comes out. Kinda disappointed that they they didn’t juice up the music of this game though since I consider it to be one of the biggest strong points about this game. . I’m pretty sure there’s asmall comic or macro out there about accidentally hitting ‘no’ when he asks you ‘Did you get all that?’
In addition as much as I love Zelda games, I dislike the mythology considerably. There’s something very unfullfilling about learning the mythos especially considering that a lot of it is just so much of a cocktease. You learn only enough to get through the game, but nothing to really contribute to the larger world of Zelda. The only real things that feel fleshed out is Link as the Hero of Legend/Time/whatever and in Majora’s mask for it’s condensation of so many character stories into a short game. Ultimately I wish there was more of an emphasis on story rather than IT’S ZELDA…IT’S OUR TECH DEMO MASTER GAME!
I agree completely. The fact that each Zelda is pretty much a stand alone game is incredibly annoying. There’s this really really sweet more action oriented style Zelda type series called Ys. Those games are fucking awesome and half the reason why is cuz they take place in a world with deep history and they all have Adol as the main character so you follow him as he travels all over the universe of Ys. It’s so fucking awesome to run into a character and be like “Holy shit i met that guy 3 games ago!”
I usually don’t mind so long as there’s some level of consistency in the way the worlds, storyline and characters are created. I think giving Link a train in Spirit Tracks was a mistake personally.
I’d also rather he’d stop talking to animals like Snow White but hey it’s Nintendo… At least Snow White is in a medieval setting kind of. Unlike the train…
He was an animal when he talked to animals in Twilight, I can kind of live with that.
It beats talking to that giant owl and asking him how many Links does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop or whatever they talk about.
Never really got into Zelda with the exception of Oracle of Ages and Ocarina of Time, but I decided to change that recently and have picked up a bunch of old games: NES Original, LttP, Oracle of Seasons, and Link’s Awakening. I actually own the NES classics version of the original on GBA, but wanted the real NES original. And just my luck, it so happened that the cartridge I got was last saved at the exact same point my GBA game left off from
Anyways, playing through LA now, just got to the seventh dungeon, game is great. Btw, how is Four Swords Adventures? I actually own a few GC-GBA link cables (mostly from bundles I’ve gotten over the years) and I know some friends of mine have GBAs, so the setup shouldn’t be a problem.
I actually got stuck somewhere in link’s awakening…I can’t even remember where. I’m sure if I tried to revisit it I wouldn’t know where to go. It’d be nice if they actually re release it in 3D on the 3DS for download.
so after reading online about ocarina of time i hear a lot of people complaining about the water temple. was it really that bad i mean i had a little trouble with it but it seems to have been blown way out of proportion.
People hate the infamous Water Temple because it generally involves moving a lot of levers and remembering what everything does in the temple instead of mostly dealing with things one room at a time and because of that you’ll have to be doing a lot of back tracking through the temple. Ocarina also had the slight annoyance of going into the pause menu everytime to switch out your boots. Going through the water temple the first time without any outside help can be task but it’s not difficult as long as you understand the flow and order. Personally I think it’s a bit blown out of proportion but I can understand the frustration with it.
It’s just boring and annoying. Constant water raise, lower, back track, remember what this does, this doesn’t. It’s not fun. Oh and CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG. God damn dude.
if it wasn’t how it is now it wouldnt be zelda, believe me it’s more important than you realise that it stays exactly how it is- and yes ironically I can’t go into depth why because it’s against my interest. you can figure it out yourself though
First of all that is unfair. Creating an unassailable opinion on the fact that you can’t debate for it because it goes against your interest isn’t right. I’m fully aware of what makes Zelda…Zelda and that’s the problem. Zelda is a testament to good gamemaking, but from a bygone era. That’s probably why it works so well but also gets so much criticism for it. It’s a staple or a mainstay like Dragon Quest. However unlike Dragon Quest, I feel that Zelda is a bit too conservative when it comes to their ability to tell a story especially considering when the genre it represents as a fantasy adventure game has seen far better examples of storytelling from other franchises.
I’m not saying that Zelda should grow up, if anything Twilight Princess sort of showed us that, but I want the storytelling to be far more engaging than just a thinly veiled web to hold every other aspect of the game together. It’s a current gen game with 8 bit gen prose and considering it’s pedigree, the fans deserve better than having to make Zelda-pedia articles that contain 50% “Fanon” material.
if zelda maintains words on screen with the characters speaking an unknown language/s it will be doing a good thing for all of us. all that needs to improve is graphics and inventive multimodality.
there’s plenty of other games that fulfill your needs :wonder:
