The Legend of Zelda thread - Ganon's bodyshop will be open for business on Nov. 20th

just beat zelda 2 for the first time.
why didn’t any of you tell me it was that hard and frustrating.

Haha Zelda II is one of the Classic Trolls

playing through spirit tracks right now since I never beat it. I think phantom hourglass is the better of the two right now though. Also want to give Wind Waker a shot but kinda want to wait until the remake is out.

Because everyone knows Zelda II is balls deep hard? It’s part of what makes it so fucking good.

Ok, so as everyone knows The Legend of Zelda series has been the subject of countless parodies over the years, but THIS … well you know what I’m not even going to say anything. Just watch.

Interview from cnet with Aonuma on zelda 3ds

Miyamoto: Majora’s Mask remake is still being thought about

I loved MM but after OOT I think I’ve had my fill of remakes, I’d rather Nintendo focus on making new Zelda’s.

Surprised these 2 awesome interviews haven’t been posted yet, oh and I nerd raged when I read edge calling LOZ an ARPG

http://www.edge-online.com/features/eiji-aonuma-on-the-return-of-a-link-to-the-past-after-22-years-in-a-twilight-realm/

 @Miyamoto forgetting why Link switched feom being left handed to right handed, I never even noticed that. it’s nice to see Aonyma and his team are cognizant of toeing the line between paying homage to ALTTP and innovating on it. The new game play mechanics shown so far seem to fit well with the classic top down game play. The LOZ series has always been tricky to handle because, there is always the temptation to play it safe and give fans what they like, but at the same time each new title makes it more clear to both fans and Nintendo that something has to give, and that LOZ needs more than a graphical facelift sooner rather than later. Aonuma hints that Zelda Wii U will be a much more innovative and experimental game.

Also the question of Aonuma working on a new IP excites me because if he created a new IP before he retired than I’m very confident it would become a new “classic first party IP”. Imagine a new IP being goven the Mario/Zelda treatment! Being continued by future Nintendo visionaries and grow to a point where people years from now will be talking about how it all started…wishful thinking sure because Nintendo will have him cranking out new Zeldas on his deathbed but you never know lol.

After reading this WW makes perfect sense as being chosen above the other Zeldas for an HD makeover, too bad some content is being cut rather than added though. Also Aonumas reasoning why he chose buttons instead of stylus controls makes perfect else too, I thought there should be options for both in any new Zelda but now I see why stylus wouldn’t work on 3DS, and even though I enjoyed stylus combat in PH, I prefer buttons anyways.

Dat SM3DL stage 5-2! The funny thing is I didn’t even notice that was a Zelda homage u till I read this article I feel retarded lol, but in retrospect it was one of the best designed and fun stages in the game, and made excellent use of the 3D effect. That stage is effectively a prototype for the potential of 3DS Zelda.

IGN put up some live demo footage from SDCC with Bill Trinen of a A Link Between Worlds

So that’s not a stamina meter it’s a universal item meter…hmmm big change to the zelda formula but I’m really digging it. Also sword beams are back!

Now I can just go on a bomb rampage without having to scavenge for rupees.

Amazon has put up the price of Wind Waker HD at 49.99 and also stating that it will come with a higher difficulty setting.

IGN is trying to reach out to them to get a 100% confirmation on it but I’m not expecting them to say anything until a Direct…probably next month. If the higher difficulty setting is true then FUCK YES…that’s at least one of my major nitpicks about the game gone.

Imagi Studios (the folks who did Astroy Boy and the Animated TMNT film) pitched Nintendo a CGi concept in order to turn LoZ into a movie

First…CGi Zelda movie I can completely get behind 100% since there’s less chances for shit to get fucked up and it’ll be more likely to stay truer to it’s roots. 2nd…I’m ok with Zelda’s design, meh on Link’s (why the emo hair style?) and ‘HAHAHA…no…’ on who I’m guessing is supposed to be Ganondorf.

Edit:
Wind Waker HD’s Japanese boxart has been put up

while i do agree that a cgi movie would do better than a live action one an american animated zelda movie is just a bad idea.
studio ghilbli should make it.

I think an American studio could do it just fine, Zelda is born from western fantasy tropes an such. With that said…I’d be all over a Zelda movie by Studio Ghibli.

Just pre-ordered it today. I refuse to watch any footage outside of the debut trailer. I want to be surprised.

So for those who missed the direct today There was footage put up for both A Link Between Two Worlds and Wind Waker HD.

Aonuma also posted some some information in miiverse that wasn’t made available in the direct.

Hello, members of the Zelda Community! This is Eiji Aonuma of Nintendo. It’s great to be posting here again. In the Nintendo Direct video that aired today, we announced new information on the soon to be released The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. I would like to take this opportunity to talk about things that we weren’t able to include in the announcement. The Nintendo Direct video showed a glimpse of the Swift Sail (red sail) that allows the ship to go faster. Those of you who played the original may have noticed, but not only will this sail make the ship go faster, but it will always be full of wind, meaning you’re now able to control the ship to any direction you want, without having to use the Wind Waker to change direction of the wind. …Some of you may wonder whether this can still be called a sailing ship, but along with this sail and the nautical chart displayed on the Wii U GamePad that works like a car nav, it’s now become much easier to travel to the small islands and salvage points scattered around the great sea. Even if you struggled with sea exploration in the original, I think you’ll have a blast exploring the great sea once more. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will launch this October. The always energetic Toon Link and the great, open sea is waiting for all of you to set sail. Thank you!

Very interesting that they decided to go with a different Link as I think most including myself thought that it was going to be the same Link. Meaning this game won’t be a direct sequal to ALttP but just set in the same world. Also I’m sure I’m probably the only one kinda bummed that after a certain point sailing using the wind becomes pretty useless with the new sail. I may or may not use it depending on how I’m feeling.

Also here’s a quick comparison in the new artwork courtesy of Gaf along with the NA boxart for WWHD.

So it’s confirmed to have Hero mode available from the start

If you don’t want to read up anymore about some of the changes they made then don’t click the link. They mention exactly what was changed in the triforce quest and the location of the faster sail among others.

Fucking Hero Mode. Hell yes.
