The Legend of Zelda thread - Ganon's bodyshop will be open for business on Nov. 20th

Man, I’m wishing I was playing through the game right now. I COULD just open it up and start playing but I got other games to play. Never did finish my rerun of Ocarina of Time and I forgot where I was on Wind Waker.

Ah haha, good one. I beat the game myself earlier this morning. The final boss can kill you if you’re not careful, so make sure you’re prepared.

lolololol

Impressions:

[details=Spoiler]Great game. Much better than Ocarina Part 2, on point with Ocarina part 1, and almost as good as Wind Waker.

I’m glad they used a new boss character, but the design was lackluster. I thought the monster form of him was going to be the first dungeon boss, not a primary antagonist. That said, Demise’s final form was cool, and the dialogue was great, and the swordfight was great (if not too short and too easy).

Ghirahim, even more so, is a badass. Very interesting design.

Fi>>>>>Midna. I love the idea of technology being a thing of the past, even if it’s an overused idea. She’s a god damn robot.

I’m not sure how I feel about the entire overworld being a dungeon. It does make Skyloft seem like that much more of a haven, since your working full time any time you’re not there. It must be some kind of literary device that’s popular right now, becauese FFXIII did the same thing. It just feels strange to spend more time trying to gain entrance to the dungeon than you do conquering it. In the end, nothing is as cool as wondering into a new town and chatting with the citizens and exploring. The NPCs with done SO well in this game, it’s too bad most of them were in one place.

I think the music is underrated by many people. Skyloft theme is really good. The bazaar theme(s) are still stuck in my head. The dungeon music was sort of ambiant and forgetable, but hey it often is.

Overall, I am satisfied.[/details]

Right now I’ve finished 4 dungeons and nearing the 5th. So far despite enemies in this game dealing more damage the only time I’ve died was near the end of the 2nd dungeon where I was surprised by the Raiders of the Lost Ark moment and got flattened by the ball.

Beat the third dungeon today. It’s really picking up. I was very impressed with the dungeon, much better than the first two and very creative IMO in general. Nintendo has done it again for me.

I’m gonna probably try to finish this game up if possible this weekend. After I had finally got past the ship. I’m probably going to play through the game again immediately…I feel bad though cause UMVC3 has been sitting in a corner unloved for this game for the past few weeks.

I need to force myself through the 3rd dungeon.
I think the main reason I’m hating this zelda so far is 1: Story is almost non existent? Although its supposed to start up 3rd dungeon.
2: Music is so -_-… seriously, this games soundtrack for the most part is super weak for a zelda game
and 3: Its so linear. Seriously, its like, go here. Although I guess you can fly to floating islands or whatever, but its not nearly as satisfying as WW sailing to islands. And I mean the places you find, not the form of travelling. Flying is cool.

Im hoping these 3 things change.

I didn’t know you could do this against the final boss:

Spoiler

During the second part of the battle, if you raise your sword, it will get charged with lightning.

A few points of note thus far.

 • Has anyone noticed how much Zelda’s dad favors the Owl from OoT?
 • Am I the only one who thinks that the music when you’re flying sounds very much like the Back to the Future theme?
 • Lastly I hate the controls for this game. I have to be far more deliberate than I’d like for a game like this. I’d like to semi lazily sit back and have and just just play but I’ve got to put WAY too much arm and shoulder action to distinguish between some of the slashes in this game. Those eyeballs in the forest temple were a fucking nightmare.
 • The dad and the owl have the same name: Kaepora Gaebora. If that’s not deliberate enough then I don’t know what is.
 • To me it sounds like a cross between probably Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, and some Star Wars.
 • You had problems with the eyeballs?

I just put in a few more hours into this game and finished getting all the flames and went ahead and went through the classic ‘LoZ mind blown moment’. I love this game. It’s not perfect but this game feels like one of those games that will easily stand the test of time for years. I know I’m probably near the end by now and I really don’t want it to end. One of the things that annoys me as I’m playing the game is this game is pretty much the culmination of what the Wii was supposed to be but developers either didn’t take advantage or couldn’t take advantage. Part of the blame rests in Nintendo’s shoulders and other 3rd party developers. There could have been more games like this or could have easily used Skyward Sword as a basis moving forward but now the sun is setting on the system and I don’t know what Nintendo’s plans are for the Wii U. Going back to using buttons for sword strikes won’t be the same after I finish this.

One of the stones of truth in OoT claim that he was a reincarnation of an ancient wise man. They also share the same name.

aww kiueel
just got my hands on this game. i’m loving how you fight the enemies, controls, it’s all good so far.
the fact that you can get rid of the wiimote on the screen made me happy.
but the controls sometimes piss me off when it misreads my movements.

everything considered i am very satisfied with this game i love the characters (i loled at the shop keeper when you didn’t buy from him)

Any new timeline theorys since officially sws takes place before oot?

There appears to be a serious bug in Skyward Sword. If you’re in the middle of playing the game, make sure you read this.

Spoiler

The glitch occurs during the Song of the Hero quest, if you follow this exact sequence:
[]At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.
[
]In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.
[]Complete the Thunder Dragon’s event, and receive his song.
[
]Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.

At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue.
Tackling the other dragons that are part of the Song of the Hero quest will ensure that the glitch doesn’t occur, however.

Nintendo’s answer to that game breaking glitch is simply that they don’t have one. I’m very disappointed.

They don’t have the ability to patch the game unless they set it up to do so. That’s one of the good things about being able to do patches is that genuine oversights like this can be patched. I’m hoping that Nintendo doesn’t start pulling a bethesda once they start going to the Wii U.

Hold on to your Wii Remote pluses and Wii Motion Pluses…looks like future Zelda titles are more than likely going to be sticking with motion controls

Of course I’m 100% for this so long as they take what they’ve done with Skyward Sword and improve upon it. There’s also gonna have to be more minor things that will need to be addressed as well including having an option for lefties. I suggest the moment that Ninty releases a debut trailer/sketch that all the lefties need to drop a letter or flood their facebook.

I’m probably the only one that hasn’t beaten it yet, but I just beat the 5th dungeon boss and am about 25 and half hours in. Game is too good. Really enjoyed the 3rd dungeon, the 4th dungeon boss fight, and the road to finding the 5th dungeon.

I remember there was a rumor going around that Retro could have been working on a zelda game at some point…now that doesn’t seem so far fetched at all.

If I had to choose out of all the studios outside of Nintendo that they owned it would probably have to be them. It’d be interesting and we know they have good artists. Just have Miyamoto and Aonuma set the style of what they want the game to feel like then give them a long leash. I’d be more interested in Retro building an original IP at this point but I’d be lying if I said I’m not intrigued by what they could come up with for the franchise.

Nintendo Will Fix Fatal Zelda: Skyward Sword Glitch

A sort of ‘patch’? We’ll see how this goes…

Nintendo Releasing Zelda Artbook

Words can’t express how much of a Want this is for me. I’ve always wanted Nintendo to release the artwork they’ve done for the series and became increasingly frustrated when the limited edition strategy guides didn’t have any of this besides being overpriced (seriously…40 bucks for the collector’s edition with barely any difference besides being hardback and more gold on it). No telling if this will come out in the U.S. yet though…it better though. Rumor so far is that this thing actually has THE damn timeline in it.
