I stopped reading game reviews a long time ago, but just seeing these sensationalist titles for some of these articles is still annoying regardless. We need review/spoiler tags that also hide the titles so I can skip over them.
I haven’t played a Zelda game since OoT & MM mask but I will say its the best video game
series ever. I watch a lot of the walkthroughs on youtube for the other zelda games and they
seem like they are so much fun. My favorite Zelda game will always be MM though because I have
so many found memories of playing that game.
Ahh shit…Apparently Skyward Sword got leaked or someone broke street date. People are ripping the music and putting it on youtube.
If you’re interested in listening to some of it to pass the time I’d reccommend AestheticGamer’s channel
…yyyyyeeah…I’m gonna have to pull another call to arms in the Video Game Music thread…
They are what make newer Zelda games what they are. I miss old Zelda.
I reach third temple yesterday, this is the best zelda since OoT, fly using the wiimote is incredible, the best boss battles in the series, the puzzles and battles are very diferent from the other games
Buy Skyward Sword.
…just wanted to post that. (To no one in particular and everyone at the same time.)
Now, having said it, I’ll be playing some Skyward Sword tonight and registering my physical copy this weekend.
God damn I love Nintendo.
A couple of reviews have called it a bit of an action game. That makes me smile. I agree that I do miss when Zelda was about dungeon crawling instead of puzzle solving.
The wait…the waaaaaaiiiiiiittt…stares at clock and taps foot
There’s a gamerip available. Doesn’t have any of the tracks labeled though unfortunately

I played the crap out of the game this weekend. This game is awesome, the dungeons are well-designed and have some puzzles that are much different than the standard 3D Zelda fare. And the trek to get into each dungeon itself feels like a puzzle. The enemies are well-designed, you never really get bored of fighting as they switch up the enemy types pretty often, boss fights are relatively simple, but some of them you have to figure out how to fight them in new and inventive ways, that really make the motion controls shine. If anyone can prove the validity of motion controls, Nintendo sure can.
Canon-wise, I think this game falls either before LttP (which really wouldn’t make sense as it would essentially mean they retconned it) or after LttP but before OoT and Four Swords? Can’t really say for sure. Don’t really want to get into the convoluted timeline shit as it’s kinda dumb.
Can’t wait to actually pick up my LE copy and listen to that soundtrack non-stop. Also, the score is absolutely wonderful. Be it you’re Loftwing riding, exploring the desert, the woods or the volcano, almost every track is masterfully crafted, and I wish more games had their entire soundtrack performed by an orchestra. Each time the Skyward Sword theme played I got goosebumps. Also, holy shit, the character design and the animations for them. They may have skimped on some stuff like vine textures, and leaves, but overall you really don’t notice it. But if there’s one thing they spent time perfecting, it’s the characters and their animations. Link has his own little quirks now, even though he’s still a speechless protagonist. Zelda especially is brought to life in a way you’ve never seen her before, as are the rest of the characters. There’s three characters especially in the last quarter of the game that look absolutely amazing. The animations for enemies during fights and naturally boss encounters are done extremely well. Also, the area for the final boss fight is properly epic and looks absolutely amazing. My end time clocked was probably around 38 hours with a fair share of sidequests done. (Yes, I didn’t leave the house on Saturday or Sunday, but I didn’t regret a moment of it.) and I’m sure this will make some of you happy: There is a Majora’s Mask reference in one of the sidequests.
Good to hear =D. And they said that this game is before OoT essentially making it the first game in the timeline. Just 5 more days…I’m gonna have to play the hell out of Super Mario 3D Land and Ult Marvel before this game comes out because everything will have to go on hold until I finish it.
Now that I think about it…Walnut do you know of Skyward Sword’s disc is dual layered or not?..or are you playing this through some other means?
It’s not dual-layered. and yes, I know the game is before OoT, but I’m curious if it’s after LttP or before LttP, because if it’s before they basically retconned LttP. Like I said, the timeline stuff is dumb and I don’t even know why I’m talking about it.
Does that chick in the trailers still have that weird nose?
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that Skyward Sword is meant to be the start of the whole timeline.
You mean Zelda? Probably.
Well, I’ll get into it more when the game finally comes out and I can talk about stuff without ruining things for everyone.
LttP is after OoT…OoT used to be the first game in the timeline. Now Skyward Sword is.
What blows my mind isn’t that this game will likely be the best 3D Zelda, surpassing OoT but Nintendo saying all the Zeldas are connected and exist within the same universe. Now I post this gif, which I found on gaf after following a couple SH links to there.
Shit…seriously? Not dual-layered…very interesting.
Edit:
Skyward Sword came in shipment today and I stared at the case the bundles and the game cases that came in and I think I was seriously contemplating taking a copy home. That’d be stupid of me on all accounts so I quickly taped the boxes back up to get rid of any chances of anybody in the store being dumb. One of my associates tried to hold the damn box hostage after realizing what was in it lol. That game is gonna be sitting there…calling me…for the next few days.
