The Legend of Zelda thread - Ganon's bodyshop will be open for business on Nov. 20th

This game is massive a hell. headed over to the desert and did two of those towers over there. It’s crazy how much space there is.

How far are you in the game?

There was a point before I did all the shrines where I thought “This is a huge game, but I’ve seen everything and it’s still awesome and I’m still no bored!” Then I made it a point to do all the shrines (120) and was like “HOW DID I MISS THIS!” “I’M SURE I’VE BEEN HERE BUT NEVER NOTICED!” “I WOULD’VE NEVER FOUND THIS!”

Storywise - I did the first memory and talked to Impa and doing side quests.

Oh nice. Good luck with the desert. You’ll definitely need it.

I did the Desert first on my Master run (which isnt finished either) and while the Desert was tough I think it was the right decision in the long run.

I spent about 5 hours last night just running around in the Double Peaks region and I’m still not done, but I got 6 shrines in it (as well as the one nearby at the Riverland stable in Hyrule Field), have done some of the side missions, and looted the F out of the guardian wasteland area by the stable.

I still have some more areas to comb and shrines to complete before moving to Hateno but I know exactly where the shrines are here. The last one I won’t be able to do until I come back later though.

I am kinda surprised at how much decent gear I already have as well as how many rupees and koroks I’ve been able to get.

I really like playing this way. It’s slow, but rewarding, and those floating platforms in Master Mode are a lifesaver.

Also, I didn’t realize how awesome a spear was until this run. I always preferred one-handed swords for most of my typical enemy encounters, but being able to quickly knock dudes off cliffs or these platforms is great.

I’m in the ice dungeon on ALTTP. Didn’t know the previous dungeon was going to throw a bullet hell at me, lol. I’m now at dungeon #5 in the Zora domain. The ice dungeon is cool so far, except the skeletons.

The skeleton enemies look cool, but are a lame fucking slog. I’m guessing there’s a faster way to beat them, but for now, I just do one hit and then spam boomerang ad infinitum.

I just acquire the fast travel after beating the 4th dungeon in not-Kakariko. I play with that once I’m done with the ice dungeon. The dungeons so far take me around an hour on average to beat, with deaths.

Spears are freaking awesome.

Range and speed make a huge difference, but when dealing with enemies like moblins, I usually prefer one-handed swords and other weapons since they can just power through and whack you.

Learned this the hard way. Got kicked down a cliff. Was hella salty as I climbed back.

I have been almost all over the map, on this first shot of Master Mode.

  • Trying to build one extra full bar of stamina before focusing on getting 9 more hearts to get the Master sword.

  • Unlocked Faron and Lake Towers for farming

  • Bought the house in Hateno…though now I’m low on rupees.

  • Grinding for Ancient Cores to upgrade the "ZA WAUIDO" rune.
-Did 2 Major Test of Combat shrines including the one in Hyrule Castle and only got 1 core but lost some of my royal weapons. I ended up having to look up shrines that have ancient cores, and now my count is at 2.

  • Finished last night unlocking the Lanaryu tower leading to Zora’s domain. I am going to go a different Divine Beast route, do Medoh first, then either Ruta or Naboris and lastly Rudania.

Feel like I should have probably not let myself wander over to Zora’s and did Ruta first in my master playthrough. The ability from Medoh is a god send for traversal but shit is COLD over there lol.

Don’t forget you can always just trade one extra bar of Stamina for a Heart Container (and vice-versa) in Hateno, so when you’re gunning for the sword, you can use the free trade to do it.

That saved me on my run because I immediately went for the extra stamina.

Oh, I know.
It just feels better to have an extra stamina bar for traversal (climbing & gliding)

Just finished the swamp. Gotta remember the DUNGEON ITEM! Can’t forget the DUNGEON ITEM.

To be fair, I thought you had to drop on the area where the chest was, I didn’t know you were able to outrun the falling floor to get said item. The boss in that dungeon was a lot easier than outta-nowhere-bullet-hell, haha.

I’m reading there’s a cape somewhere as well, but I’m guessing I don’t need it. I’m off to Death Mountain. Looks like I should have ALTTP to the past finished before the weekend.

Did this game come with a map, like the NES Zelda?

I’m thinking of relaxing my BOTW “No Fast Travel” rule a bit…

It was great when I was combing through the areas, but now when I’m just running across a whole region I already sweeped to get to the neighbouring one, it’s a bit annoying.

I need to find a way to allow myself some but in a way where I won’t abuse it for farming and stuff.

Easy. If you’re going to farm, you’re specifically going to certain places to do so. Make a conscious effort to not do it.
