It never saves once you activate the final fight. That’s the last save point so to speak so when you reload it will be in the throne room right before the boss fight.
So yes.

Awesome! Thanks again!
Yea man, it’s like almost all Zelda games, nothing is missable.
Any of you guys do any special kinds of runs?
I know I’m a fair bit into my regular Master Mode run, but kinda want to do a run where I can’t use fast travel, and any fairies/mipha’s gift.
I think the former may make me plot out my routes better (ie, why am I running over to that village and what are all of the things I need to do while I’m there so I don’t have to go back, etc).
The latter would just make the combat more engaging and tough. Though, I’d also need to put a limit on how many hearts/temporary hearts I can use, or food/meals to store… Then again, if I’m not fast travelling, it’s not like I can just warp back to the Lord of the Mountain’s mountain to replenish my Hearty Durians and Endura Carrots after every blood moon, so maybe this isn’t needed.
I’m not sure if I’d want to restart this run though. I don’t really want to start doing this a 5th of the way though (or wherever I am), but I know if I continue to beat it on Master regularly, then I won’t want to do this for a long time.
I don’t fast travel wheb playing normally. Fast travel is a mistake in most games that offer it. All you do is miss content and Mats when fast travel.
Yeah, I agree. It feels a little cheap that I can just zip around to farm stuff. There are things about the game I think could be improved, but the whole landscape of the world is the best part, so familiarizing myself with it more would be nice.
Alright, tonight I’m starting a new run:
Fairies* A Ferry is a boat.
Lol, you’re right. Thanks.
I’m definitely one of the nut jobs that walked and ran everywhere in my first play through. Think my travel time consisted of like 95% ‘on foot’ (this includes gliding around), 3% horse and 2% teleport. I usually only fast traveled if there was an area I was specific in trying to get too…otherwise I wandered everywhere on some A.D.D. stuff my first playthrough. You find a lot of korok seeds that way.
I did a lot of running around my first play through too. This time, I’ve realized I’m teleporting everywhere.
I’m actually kinda falling into a trap… My first playthrough was great and challenging, until I learned how get nearly infinite 20 temporary heart and 2 temporary stamina refills and 30 min buffs lol, as well as basically infinite arrows. A red moon would occur and I’d spend an hour or two just replenishing my stock and taking on every lynel in the map. It was fun, but I was way too reliant on stuff that made me OP and the game became easy as a result. It was nice to be that powerful of course, but some of the magic of the game died with it.
Without second guessing it, I’ve spent most of this second run unlocking shrines and stuff in the very same areas so I can just fast travel to them and do that again, but earlier on.
So that’s why I’m changing it up.
It may be a bit crazy to do this on Master Mode as well, but it will force me to get better at combat
I still havent finished my master mode run I just remember getting rocked by bokoblins for 20 hours lol. I seldom fought enemies unless I could sneak attack them cause of the regen and not having enough weapons. Default outfit is the ninja suit from kakariko. It helps but enemies still can spot you from miles away.
How many hours do you think you all have put into BotW?
I put over a 100 hours on my first and currently only run. (That I didn’t even finish btw. Gotta beat Ganon, but I want to find all the shrines first.)
This game is absolutely packed with content, it’s amazing. A ton of fun too.
I am definitely limiting the food I get when I do my next run.
Food makes everything in this game extremely trivial. Seriously, limit yourself to having 5 or 10 slots for meals and you’ll see a massive jump in dificulty.
In the entire run of me playing, I never used a horse.
Pretty sure its 150+ overall…might be 200
Yeah, I’m thinking the same.
Counting my playtime on both the Switch and CEMU emulator versions of BOTW, I’m clocking in at near 150+!!
I’m fine with how fast travel is handled in BoTW.
I also prefer gliding to locations over riding a horse!!
Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of riding horses to be honest, and I agree that fast travel was done well, I was just abusing it (or abusing cooking/farming).
I made it to the Double Peaks tower on my new playthrough last night and because of the limitations I imposed on myself, I have been a lot more mindful about everywhere I go. I found areas on the Great Plateau I didn’t even know existed and left there with more stuff than I thought was possible… Took a while though, but that’s fine. It seems like it’ll be a major PITA to get back there without fast travel so I wanted to make sure I combed the area well. Volt told me about the Stone Talus there a while ago but I never actually knew where he was until I stumbled on him last night, lol.
I’m also talking a lot more time to grab every critter I see, or climb every tree for eggs and stuff like that.
Master Mode really does change how I approach enemy camps too. On Normal, I’d just rush in headfirst. On Master (so far on this new run), I’m mostly avoiding the battle because I’ll most likely break more (or better) weapons than I’ll earn, so I’m just checking the camps to see if there’s anything worth stealing, and then I may use the environment to drop boulders/blow up explosive barrels to kill one or two of them, or to knock them down or away from the loot, and rush in to take it the prize and rush out. Sometimes I’ll try to sneak in and then once spotted, rush in and out.
These limitations also make it feel like I’ve turned all of Hyrule into a massive Eventide Island. It really creates the sense that you need to scrape the whole land and make the best use of everything you can. The game has that feeling normally of course, but because I was zipping around after a red moon to regather the best items in minutes, I lost that.
I’m having fun but it has slowed the game down a bit, but I think that may be for the better.
