Yea man I remember my buddy 3 doors down getting for his birthday. We played all night. I got Ocarina for my birthday back in 97. Still a great game. BOTW is as big a change as Ocarina was so apt comparison. Deffinitly love the game. Only game in recent memory I’ve played as long and consistantly is The Witcher 3.
Using this Social Distancing time to play OoT 3D since I hadn’t played it yet. Just finished the Fire Temple.
Game looks freaking great
It’s actually weird to have to climb everything slowly after playing BotW, actually dropped out of vines a lot of times mashing A to jump.
Camera work is still abysmal and the aiming changes are… Meh. Instead of being hella jumpy now the aiming is tank-like. It’s horribly slow on the circle pad.
The limitations of the 3DS button layout are understandable, but kinda annoying. Not enough actual buttons for Hookshot/Hammer/Bow. No excuse for they not using the D-Pad to control the camera though.
Master Quest being mirrored almost guarantees I’ll never play it. This bothers me to no end.
Besides the camera and aiming, the rest is nitpicking tbh.
Game is still fantastic and the gold standard of the series. Great game.
Enough time past since I beat BOTW that i cant remember where all of the shrines are and stuff (and my internet is currently shot, so fighting games are a no go), so I booted up BOTW to start a Master Mode campaign…
Those fucking centaur things (can’t remember their names) are on the great plateau when you start! At best, at fucking best, you have 3 hearts, no “hearty” ingredients, some sort of rusty ass sword, a wooden shield or two, and a handful of arrows (probably less than 10)… Get fucked Nintendo, lol
He is completely avoidable if you know the map enough (perhaps that’s the point) but seeing him right beside the Temple of Time near the start, when I had no arrows, shield, and only a tree branch scared the shit out of me.
The extra damage the enemies take makes it tough (especially since your weapons don’t do more damage or have more durability) but the fact that they regenerate health if you don’t hit them after a few seconds (which isn’t long enough at all, especially when there’s more than one) is honestly pretty brutal. The only way I’ve been able to beat some of the ogre (babokans?) squads you have to beat, is that they’re usually near cliffs and I was able to bomb/knock them off.
I’m now at Hitaro village (where you upgrade the sheikah) and pretty much got here by ignoring every fight I can, lol.
I certainly do! Lol, I’m trying to save up for that by killing every animal I see and smashing every ore deposit.
This is actually where I like the game the most, when you have to scrape by for everything.
When you get OP near the end, the game gets way too easy. That’s why I’m playing on Master as it will hopefully make the beginning more fun and keep it challenging to the end.
Yeah, a stone Talus would help. I haven’t run across any yet, and my weapon inventory is still pitiful, so I’ll have to grab a bunch of sledge hammers before I do, or see if I can find some claymores. I remember where a couple of them are.
I’m probably doing them in the same order I did them originally (counter-clockwise from the elephant to the camel).
Just saying, but a big part of the game’s replayability is how you get to pick the order the dungeons are done.
I’ll save Ruta for last next time I play. Not having Mipha’s Grace is actually huge for a chunk of the game since if you don’t have actual fairies, you’re in trouble.
And the fucked up thing is, those “centaur things”, the Lynels they are still beatable at that early point in the game with 3 hearts. But you got to have that furry rush and shield parry skills down solid.
That’s actually a good point. If I want to make the game harder, I should probably not do the things that make it easy.
Can you disable those four gifts though? I’m pretty sure you can. I may just do that first (since it is the easiest one) but disable her gift… Maybe the rock dude’s too (man I am terrible at remembering these names lol).
