Metal Gear Rising is used as the base, I believe, not Bayonetta. The review from IGN has already been called out for false information regarding parry timing, damage output, and combo variety.
I’m in the camp if not caring about reviews, but since I’m not buying the game anytime soon, and it’s P*, I figured “why not…”
The game is clearly low budget lol. I think expecations are too high. It clearly wasn’t a long term project like basically every other plat game besides Rising and Anarchy
I’m on Chapter 5 and I’m really liking it. Just got all the elements and they look really good.
It’s low budget and it shows, but it costs 15 dollars, so what more can you expect?
The combat is nice, there’s no color-coded enemies, you can hit anyone with any attack at any time.
People that are complaining on reviews must be on crack, IT’S A LOW BUDGET, LOW PRICE GAME and it still looks ok and plays great, what more can you expect?
The game is pretty much “Platinum lite”. At its core, it’s still the smooth, responsive and fast action we’ve come to expect from them. Most of the criticisms of the gameplay that I’ve have been leveled at other Platinum titles before (IIRC, both Bayo and MGR had some folks complaining about the over-reliance on the parry/dodge mechanics as well). Yes, the combos may be more limited, but you have to consider that A.) it’s a budget game that costs only $15 and B.) a good chunk of the target audience probably won’t be able to appreciate some of the intricacies of the other games. And speaking of the “target audience”, this goes for the complaints about the story and how it supposedly lacks explanation for who the characters are - it’s a Korra game, most people buying it are probably well versed with the characters and the setting already.
Uh…
I got stuck while sliding during the runner section in chapter 2.
Damn polar bear/dog/whatevs it is Naga just kept infinitely sliding against the corner and I couldn’t get unstuck.
had to pause and exit the game.
only reason I don’t show the glitch for a longer expanse of time is cuz I only have 30second free Fraps…so…but trust me, it goes on 4ever. its pretty funny.
look at all the dust I’m kicking up going nowhere fast. smh.
Limited chain list aside, the combo system feels like it’s free enough for any enterprising folks to figure stuff out. There seem to be enough moves that stun or stagger, plus the fact that everything seems to hit OTG.
Even with locked airbending, you can do Y (sweep), X, X Y (superman), and then use the OTG to continue the combo. Best part though is that the “superman” move will often hit other opponents can you can continue the combo on them instead.
Water is the best all-around element for combat, because it hits enemies far away and it’s pretty useful up close. Also, UP > UP > Triangle (I’m on PS4) it’s great to rack up your combo count
Earth is the most satisfying element, you really feel you’re causing pain at each hit
Fire is pretty meh except for the double dodge (R2 > R2) where Korra flies
Just unlocked Air, but it seems pretty cool. She does a Hurricane Kick! Haven’t bought the air ball yet, unfortunately
To unlock Spirit Korra costume, select that costume and press UP > UP > DOWN > DOWN > Square (light attack)
To unlock an item (looks like a comb), select it and press either LEFT > LEFT > RIGHT > RIGHT > Square (light attack) OR RIGHT > RIGHT > LEFT > LEFT > Square (Light Attack), I can’t remember wich one worked
This item (the comb) makes each of Korra’s attack hit more than once, so it’s great to cause more damage and bigger combos
Korra’s non-bending aerial attacks being her standing attacks is just lazy, IMO, same as no speaking mouth animation or expression changes on the faces of the trio of benders who attack you. Her and Naga slamming Looney Tunes-style into walls is hilarious as hell…and I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be.
