coming physical damage is multiplied by a factor based on the unit’s armor:
Damage multiplier = 100 / (100 + Armor) if Armor ≥ 0
Damage multiplier = 2 − 100 / (100 − Armor) if Armor ≤ 0
Examples:

If someone has armor pen or magic pen runes, you can’t tell just by clicking on them and looking at the listed stats as you would be able to with the others like armor/ad/mr/ms

I was Nasus.

Wither doesn’t effect attack damage.

Fear doesn’t effect my skills hitting Fiddle and him taking 1/4th of the damage he was doing to me.

Damage multiplier = 100 / (100 + Armor). So if you have 100 armor you take 50% damage. In the case of fiddle he was likely using his life drain skill on you and stealing HP’s. In the case of darius he has more moves to hurt you than you do. Nasus’s Q does a paltry bonus damage until you get farmed up, but darius has a similar move that does more damage and has a lower cool down if he has hit you before. He also has his axe spin nuke while you have a your crappy circle DoT that he has to stand in. Darius also has passive armor reduction, you also have armor reduction but only when they stand in the circle. On top of all of that darius’s passive adds a bunch of extra bleeding damage on you. Nasus is just not equipped to win straight up fights early on, he needs to farm up his Q.

Oh and Darius naturally gets armor penetration as a passive from one of his skills, so there’s always that to consider

So basically, do what I have been doing for the last 400 matches I have played. Use armor pen/magic pen and armor/magic resist runes because if you don’t you get shit on.

You essentially can’t go wrong with (whatever damage you do)pen reds/armor yellows/MR or MR per level blues/AD or AP or (whatever damage you do pen) quints.

Having Armor Yellow and MR Blue runes are ones you should prioritize when you start setting up tier 3 rune pages, since they’re very versatile and can be used in many different types of pages

I have those. Its just weird that they are so dominant that like… why even have yellow and blue rune slots? You know? There are a few champs that use other things like mana regen, or for jungle Noc I use attack speed blues. Same thing with Flash. Flash is so good that if you don’t take it (most of the time) you are totally worthless.

These are the problems I’ve always had with League though. Runes/Masteries blah blah numbers and % that you cant see or control in a match up. Suuuuucks.

There are many pages you can make beyond the standard pages, that can really throw people off
My Galio page for example, is MR R/B/Y, with AP quints. All that MR + having 50 AP at level 1

Supports can use GP10 yellows
Specialized rune pages are definitely something to consider

I used one that was all AD for a mid caster. It was pretty funny to use Swain and stun, damage increase, and then auto attack to oblivion.
