Irelia goes basically even against Darius, it’s just a skill matchup. Olaf beats Darius, far as everyone says, although I admit to not having much personal experience with the matchup. Jax I’d say is also very even, although Jax’s late game is way better than Darius’. Nidalee can beat basically anyone top during the laning phase, as far as I can tell. Her teamfighting is weaker than Darius, but if your team plays around her well her skrimishing ability is no less useful late game. Jayce also beats Darius. He has stronger poke and his disengage is strong. He is also less vulnerable up top.
Darius’ main problem is his vulnerability to ganks. He has no escape outside of flash, and he has to play aggressive to make the most of his kit. What Darius is is easy, and good at capitalizing on bad play. His overall damage is really high, and he’s not tricky to play, by any stretch of the imagination. The reset mechanic ensures that he’s a real pain to deal with if he gets the train going, too.
Nah man, I don’t think Irelia goes even with him. I think Darius has an advantage, but Irelia isn’t a slouch in lane. She can fight with him pre 6, but once more, it’s level 6 that pushes him over the edge.
I disagree on Jayce beating him.I point to the world finals where Dyrus played Darius and was chunking Jayce. Even if he has disengage, Darius gets one pull and I’m taking out 25% of your life. I’ll take that trade over and over again. I will say that Jayce is a much safer pick and has more team utility.
As far as Olaf goes, my experience has been favorable. Olaf has usually killed himself before he’s gotten close to killing me.
Jax is not in his favor. There is a point where Jax can not live against him. usually level 6 is where Darius can all in him and murder him. Now Jax scales much better. I put it like this. If it’s a farm lane Darius can push Jax out the lane by running up and q’ing him at max range. Now if Jax gets a kill then that whole scenario changes.
Nidalee vs Darius is really meh for me. Because Nidalee won’t exactly beat Darius, but she can make it so Darius doesn’t get many kills. I will say that much. I believe he is overall better than her though.
Jax v Darius is a joke matchup. Jax’s options include starting boots and running around spamming laugh or starting cloth 5 and spamming laugh as you q for 0 damage. As soon as Jax has both Phage and Level 6 with some mana, it’s gg for Darius. Also, assuming you spec Jax correctly and Darius normally (I run 19-11, but 21-9, etc.) Jax moves much faster than Darius and can’t really be harassed with Q unless you really go for it, and even then, if you overextend he can just all in you and chase you through lane on Phage proc since he can win an outright duel post 6.
I did play Darius in a laneswap position today. He’s not as bad as you’d expect imo. Q is great if they are a squishy support you can like 1 combo them lol.
Right because Darius doesn’t have passive armor pen, vs your cloth 5 pot. Trust me on this. Max range Q will hurt you regardless of you having boots 3 pot or cloth 5 pot. If you sit there and run you get no farm. Jax really does not beat Darius. He has a bigger damage leap than Jax. Jax will eventually out DPS Darius, but I kid you not. Level 6 you will not win, and hell before Level 6. I can out damage you.

It’s literally this simple. People will constantly miss his Q on you.Just run up to right outside it’s range and run away. If Darius was so OP then why did he get shit on when Dyrus picked him? Is it because Dyrus is a bad player? No. In fact Dyrus is one of the few top laners who has EXCELLENT decision making. Not only that, but if people are as scrubby as you then they can have a jungler help them out if it MUST happen. But lemme guess, he 2v1’s you and the jungler because he’s the most OP Piece of shit to ever be in the game.
Kennen, Irelia, Jayce, Jax, Malphite, Riven, Rumble, Lee Sin, Rengar Yorick, Kayle, Olaf and yes, TEEMO can beat him. My strongest pick vs that character is Renekton of all champs. Riven has ZERO bad match ups in lane. Her problems are late game, and even then she has Darius damage output but a better execution because it adds damage and is AoE. Darius blowing mana on his ulti? Cool. Let’s just give this easily kited bruiser kills instead of our AP’s or AD carries. Darius is a solo queue champ. Period. This isn’t the nicest way to put things but I am absolutely tired of people bitching about this guy.
You mention Shen and Nidalee as if they don’t just split push and farm anyways. Of course that’s what they will do. It’s their job in the team comp.
Darius is a character that is basically all who is the better player, or if you’re better than basic LoL micro you’ll win.
Unless you are specing something like Full AD page (I mean blues yellows) you will aren’t going to beat any decent jax in lane post 6 with a knowledge of his character. Darius get’s 5 passive armor pen unless you max pull (if you do then you are obviously the best already). Darius’ main shit is having standup duels with people and then ending it prematurely with ult and leaving while they bleedout, Jax’s passive and his ult passive combined with his ridiculous w make him the best straight up melee v melee duelist in the game. You have 1 ult, Jax has 3+ w’s and 3+ ult passive procs and a stun. I have beaten Darius’ pre - 6 by outplaying their aa reset with my stun, but I assuming the darius is good, he get’s maybe 2 extra levels of leeway before he get destroyed in lane.
It’s more awkward for Darius, especially if Jax gets to lane first and gets his Passive stacks up. If Darius can get there and zone him. Darius does just fine.
If Jax get’s passive stacks on creeps then jumps on me, Sure I’m gonna die. But if I man mode you(if you don’t have passive stacks), you will have no chance in hell of getting enough passive stacks up. If I aggressive on you, you can press your E, but then I can Q you and walk away. And I’m fine then. The amount of damage on max range q is ridiculous.
Jax vs Darius can hand either person the lane on a silver platter. Then it becomes derp easy. You either get zoned or you die. And Darius can poke with all in’ing you. Jax’s poke has to make him go in.
The things that beat Darius are full nukes like Diana. Or things with a shield, like Riven (even then she needs to out play Darius super hard).
Honestly a lot of champs shit on him in lane. It’s just that A) it doesn’t pan out that way because people’s mechanics suck (also guilty) and B) it doesn’t matter if he falls behind a little bit because derpderptruedmgkillsteallikeaboss
If that’s the case. If all these people really destroy him top and top is such a counter pick heavy lane, why do we not see top players destroying Darius left and right?

Because they aren’t picking Darius lol, and if they do, they will only pick him into a great scenario for him. Dyrus picked him in World Finals, fed hard. Westrice picked him a few times before he got benched (lol), no real results I think he carried one game. Who else really plays Darius in tournaments?
Darius would have a lot more attention if he was being picked and pulling win rates like Ezreal is. IMO, he’s a frustrating champion to lane against because the top meta is currently mostly geared towards melee bruisers. Dat shit don’t work on Darius. Most AP tops can probably deal with him just fine and Jax can definitely go even with him and play a bigger part late game.
It comes off as you feel the need to pick Darius. That’s why, especially after you defend everything he does like you couldn’t beat him. Therefore you feel you must pick him.
yeah darius in my experience dies hard to ganks(both playing as for like 3 days straight and against), he’s brutal to fight against, but he needs Q harass to get ahead, and if the enemy is smart Q harass will = pushing, and darius has no escapes. I honestly think smart jax play, jax can survive any lane, and if jax survives the lane he’s won the lane since he scales so well. Jayce also crushes darius, I imagine shen can as well.
He was chunking jayce in lane… and then lost the lane super hard Jayce exited that lane 3/1, and I believe with more farm. I actually specifically remember something that I was super pissed they missed. Jayce got ganked and had like 10% hp and darius had half or more and the jungle still had most of his life. They went to focus on a jungle fight, and jayce drove off the jungle and killed darius with like no health(I assume it’s his Q being retarded). No melee only champion can really beat jayce, because of jayce is losing he can just go use his completely retarded gated q and farm/harass. I honestly don’t think Jayce has a bad matchup in top, and he craps on most people in the lane.
Vlad, Rumble, Kennen, Kayle, Malphite, Jax, Teemo, Jayce, Cho, Yorick, Olaf, hell, even Fiora beats him - he’s like one of the four match ups she actually wins.
On an unrelated note, the Shadow Isles skins - Headless Hecarim, Haunted Maokai, Underworld TF - are up for vote whether they’ll be removed from the store once Halloween is done or not. Most likely they will be, so if you guys want any of them might as well get them ASAP.
