The Kuma Thread

bare vitality :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope Kuma ends up inadvertently top-tier lol!

I will be disappointed if, on release day, none of the strategy threads in the Kuma forum are titled ā€œThe Bear Nesscessitiesā€.

You canā€™t cancel stance from roll, no.

From low stance you can do b+fierce then hold forward straight away and zip forward about 2/3rds of the screen.

b+fierce in low stance may just be his best anti air, he has the worst anti air selection of moves of any character I can remember really.

Oh also he has Blankaā€™s coward crouch, d+3P in low stance.

Damn, he could do that in Tekkenā€¦ :arazz:

Anyways thanks for the info, you seem like you got a great chunk of time with the game. Happen to get any video footage? Oh and the low stance b+fierce, does it look like the thing I called an alpha counter in the OP? Or is that low stance f+fierce?

Heā€™s starting to sound more and more like a fun character.

Itā€™s f+fierce that gets the big launcher that is also his alpha counter, or looks similar enough. f+strong and f+fierce look like they could work as anti air, but in actual fact dont or at least not on reaction. Anti air in this game sucks. Even Tiger Uppercut regularly trades with jump ins. A lot of the time NJump and a good normal is the best and safest option as few characters can cover themselves vertically upwards.

b+fierce in low stance is his move where he curls into a ball on the floor with his legs over him and slides like a spinning top. This is controllable so if you do b+feirce then immediate towards youā€™ll go forward a good distance. It also works as anti air so you can go onto all fours, dash forward or walk back and if they try and jump on you knowing you cant block, press b+Fierce.

Iā€™ve got no footage and I can only post about characters that are revealed and playable. I do get to play the game regularly as I work in the games industry. Iā€™ll post anything about Kuma I can seeing as heā€™s out there being played at events.

Oooooooooo an insider. How much you want for some leak characters =D. You should do this for other characters (mostly tekken). Even though some characters seem the same as they do in sf4 Iā€™m sure they different

Can you give out more information on my hombre King if you get the chance?

My god this is great, Iā€™m taking advantage of thisā€¦

Ahahaha rolling bear! Found any combo-ability into it? like after a specific target combo? Some projectile invicibility?

B+MP barge, a shoulder barge like Kings? Or is this barge from low stance?

a few folks have said that Cross Arts is worth the three bars, but IIRC he does some weird jumping animation in it. Any combo ability for it or just always go for the super at the end of combos?

How well do you think he stacks up with the rest of the cast? A bit on the strong, or a bit too weak?

Lastly a bit off topic but could you comment on this Mr Insider?

After seeing some kuma play yesterday Iā€™m convinced that kuma wonā€™t be a bad character. If you have normals that causes a floor bounce, launch or a wall bounce you can hold your owsn in battle.

Kuma does not look like a bad character. He got combos!!!
If he has armor type moves we might see a few kumaā€™s in tournament play

Yes he will be played in tournaments I can see that happening

TS Nerdjosh went though his trials if anyone didnt catch the team challenge earlier tonight on x assault .

But there are like 10 other characters with ground/wall bounces and launchers who are faster and have better range.
Kuma is going to be like Dan. A lot of fun to play around with but youā€™ll only win matches against total noobsā€¦ I hope someone proves me wrong and finds something totally crazy that makes him OP :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to agree with the sentiment regarding Kumaā€™s viability but then again have we seen anyone sit down and really take time with him? The stuff shown in trials arenā€™t his only options and might not be his best ones.

Kumaā€™s damage output is very high, if kuma can combo into his hunting stance he can get a free launcher or free wall bouncee

I played with kuma a lot for a long time, weeks and weeks, and gradually I concluded that he is a low tier character. If your opponent knows the match up and has an OK offense you WILL lose. In this game once you start blocking you are more than likely to end up being broken through a frame trap, throw, high low mix up or cross up. Kuma gets put in situations where he has no option other than to block a lot more than most charactres due to his slowness and lack of zoning. He does have very good meter free damage from a clean hit, but like a lot of characters he suffers from getting jumped on so often that the opponent is never in a poisition to take that low strong/fierce or forward jab and start a combo.

Meh, Kuma looks like he is going to be this gameā€™s T Hawk. Good, easy damage, at the price of being a big ass punching bag most of the match.

kuma looks garbage. but as usual, bear stance has some interesting options, but thatā€™s about it.
