The King Of Fighters XV General Discussion Thread

If this glacial teaser trailer follows a pattern, like the last three as the new hero team, I’m guessing this is the new villain team? Who will Iori’s team mates be?

I am still not digging this single character trailer nonsense. This isn’t other fighting games, this is a team based fighter, so single character trailers are dishonest. Unless I’m wrong, and they’re ditching the team formula - despite what the previous trailer indicated.

Sorry, it’s frustrating and just feels like SNK buying time / stalling.

It will be the Three Treasures Team (Kyo, Iori and Chizuru). They reunite at the end of KOF XIV.

They release character trailers weekly on a schedule, which is way better than keeping people in the dark for ages or tossing them a bone randomly after some event like some companies do.

There is no way they are ditching the team formula. Even if they do not reveal the team simultaneously you are still informed of its roster and can make your own teams.

P.S. Iori’s costume design is badass this time around outside of the mismatched pants and his theme has not sounded so inspired in ages.

Yeah… about the “team formations”… I had an idea a while ago.

I… realized from the “official” team formations, I usually only care about two of the guys.

So… my idea was creating two-persons “official” teams, with the in-story explanation being that now the rules require two different teams to “ally” and work as one.
That would also bring us back the 4-people teams, which is something I like.

IDK, that was just something I would do to bring to the roster more characters I like and reduce the “filler”.

But, well, I know it’s weird. But I simply would like to be able to have 4-people teams again one day.

God no.

Stop with this trash people. This is why god no longer speaks to us. :stuck_out_tongue:

Joe doesn’t look that bad but the character model still moves bit of stiff IMO.

As for his moves, his new Climax/Neo Max/Whatever they’re calling the Lvl 3 this time, doesn’t seem to work in animation terms. Can’t compete with KOF XIII’s.

And I miss much more his '99-2002 “kata” super. This one where he ends in a bunch of kicks and that, I don’t know, looks and works awkward to me.

The best Muay Thai fighting game character finally makes his return!

I don’t know, I was thinking, what if they decide to implement some gameplay innovations this time?

For example, team supers like in Rival Schools. It could be cool. Your character performs a special team super if you’re using it along its canonical team mates, and a generic team super otherwise.

That would be something actually new for KOF, and would be cool and attractive.

The new Level 3 looks pretty cool.

Predictable, but he looks good with the 2003 outfit and the 2000 theme is lovely.

If they keep up with these weekly trailers, we should be ready to launch in 2022.

Not really. Years have 52 weeks, game will probably launch with 44 characters or so.
And I’m sure some characters will be DLC.

So, this thing of weekly reveals is a great thing for KOF indeed  That’s an steady and cumulative train of hype.

I think when they will understand the exact date of the launch they will start to show team trailers, not characters. Or speed things up in a different way somehow

I rather think they’ll show some extra trailers for brand new characters on FGC events.

Best thing to come of these announcements:

What if they teamed Sylvie with Athena, and introduce a male pop idol for an Idol Singer Team? Maybe Shingo could return, discovering his singing is stronger than his martial arts?

Watching the Japanese fighting game roundtable, they showed a trailer for Chizuru, not yet available on YouTube as of posting. Sacred treasures team confirmed, team logo and all.
