KOF XII is on Taito Type X2.

Mai would be a good choice Chibs. As mentioned, good counter character to Kyo-Iori (and you’ll definitely see those two characters a lot) and a mean zoning game.
I would say Shermie or Vice too, but insofar as grapplers go it’s really Daimon and O-Yash. Wouldn’t hurt to learn those characters, though. Athena for zoning and runaway (the backdash :d:+:snkb: and fly-off-to-space Crystal Bit tactics come to mind).
Is there a arcade release?
I know that they were planning on a PS2 and Wii ports, but I didn’t think they’d actually put this on an arcade board, considering how they have already done 98, 02 and Neowave, which are essentially the same game give or take characters and additional modes.
i like the route there taking with this so far rather than nerfing the better characters they seem to be making the weaker characters better, well that’s the impression i’m getting at least.
I dont know about anybody else but i think eiji is looking a bit shitty, of course i aint used him but in my eyes he looks kinda slow his moves look weak i guess we’ll find out if i’m wrong or right in due time
Anybody notice any changes in the counter hit damage? also have they got rid of the extra hit you on alot of with on on counter hit IE kyos DP ryos DP kims flash kick blah blah blah? also what are your opinions on 98s counter hits? that’s to anybody who can be arsed to answer
I remember reading there would be an arcade version a while back what comes first i have no idea, to me it looks like the ps2 version is ready to go
do SDM’s by doing joystick input+AC or BD for respective DM’s
Ok how about Mai, Shermie, Chizuru?
In no particular order?
Shit I’m definitely going to learn more then these three!
:3
This is complete and utter theory fighter, but based on what little Eiji play I’ve seen, it looks like they nerfed his reflect move. It used to have frame advantage after it when blocked, while also keeping the enemy next to him, but now the attack pushes the enemy away. It’s reallllly hard to tell whether I’m right on this or not though.
Holy shit, thats my main team.
Shermie usually doesn’t do well first, imo/from experience. Needs those stocks for C+D counter or counter-roll because she tends to get hosed by zoners or shoto-types. Second or last works. Mai or Chizuru would be good first.
I heard that KOF 98 UM is going to be in different languages as in voice wise…
China will get their Chinese Speaking Version. That’s from the ppl that’s in Ghonzou said.
KOF 98 UM is currently testing all around Asia China Taiwan Hong Kong Singapore all has test locations.
At least I saw these videos in 98

I don’t know how bottom tier rugal really is in 98 (I just assumed he was one of the lower tiers)
But after I saw these vids, I at least hope he’s not CvS2 King or CvS2 Kyosuke Bottom level…
I can imagine iof Rugal wuill get better in UM then this Rugal user whoever he is might have more wins.
Bottom tier in 98 is Alt. Billy
What Shermie has going for her is that she does HUGE damage (especially in MAX mode) and her throws have HUGE range. Crossup j.C, c.C / s.C, qcb + K, stomp (qcf + K) hurts. A lot.
Her problem is that he doesn’t have many abusable normals like other grapplers, but she can be very scary if you learn to use her.
i think shermie has some pretty decent normals her foward b is used right it can be very tricky well thats what i learned from when i was in mexico
I know alt Billy is also one of my Lower Tiers list but i do not see how he can be “not better” than Rugal…
at least even with a limited set of command moves he has at least decent normals…
Rugal on the other hand other than stand a has a sucky set of normals and even a suckier set of command moves and even a suckiest set of Supers/DMs.
PLUS he’s slower than EX billy
Billy takes the most damage in the game. I think Rugal has better specials as well, the genocide cutter, reppuken aren’t bad, barrier’s OK, Kaiser Wave is a good full-screen keepout if you don’t abuse it. Rugal’s DM aren’t worse then Billy’s.
I was under the impression that EX Andy was the worst character in '98. But, what do I know.
dan da dan was too cool for ex andy to be the worst.
Rugal at least has some good normals (s.A, j.D, s.D) and can deal big damage (c.B, c.A, f.B, God Press / Gigantic Pressure), plus he has some zoning potential. He’s slow and risky, but I’d say he’s not as bad as EX Billy.
Yes I think our friend here is being too self-defeating when it comes to discussing Rugal. It took me a while to figure out that he can hang with some characters. “Risky but not worse than Alt. Billy” sounds like a proper assessment.
That would be qcb+P, then qcf+K followup. Her qcb+P is the semi-antiair throw, the qcb+K is the hurricane kick.
