The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match

Weird, how? As in she forms 2 other images of herself out of fire, and they rotate around her like in RBFF?

From most of the vids I’ve seen…

LOTSA LOTSA Krauser Users… IMO he may be far weaker than the EX nightmare Geese but he is above the regular Geese Players I see as well…

Krauser for his size (Bigger than Rugal and probably Goro Daimon) is much faster than those two, Normal moves do frightening damage, and has Heidern-esque speed (means fast for his size)

The only Downside to Krauser is I do not see any combos, it’s basically outpowering most people with his regulars. although theb Blitzball comes out faster than in 96…

And his “Unlimited desire” back in Real Bout was more destructive than Geese’s deadly rave but I cannot say the same here though.

UM Krauser at these early stages looks like a CvS2 Sagat except for he’s a little faster than CvS2 Sagat and has LESS LESS combos.

Is Lucky any good in normal 98? I like to play characters like Lucky and Electricity Bitch Shermie but it seems to me that characters are too mobile for their zoning tactics.

Honestly, he’s considered bottom tier, but he has a good matchup against Goro so he isn’t useless. I also think he can do something against Iori.

So I’d say bottom tier but not useless. I’ve used him against good players on GGPO and had some success.

Yes Lucky can matchup well against Iori make no mistake about it…

Is there really ANY ONE who’s useless in 98? I could only think of (Regular) Rugal as being probably the most ill-privileged of the cast, but even he has some redeemable traits, does he not?

He kinda sucks in the damage department but he’s got some good range on his normals.

Yeah i can’t think of anyone who is useless in 98; the whole cast has some stuff that it can do.

EX Billy, IIRC, is pretty useless.

EX Billy is really only bad, if you try and actually make use of his “Upper Cane Smasher” (QCB+A/C). But considering that Regular Billy’s DP is pretty damn useless too, in a lot of ways, you really don’t try and do “command anti-airs” with either version of Billy. I’m hoping UM will give him his DM Anti-air back. It’s really the only thing he could need in order to round him out better.

Plus, I do like EX Billy’s DM “Salamander Stream” much better, too. It can actually be connected into combos quite well, and do a good bit of damage.

Personally, I would rank Lucky as Low-Mid.
I definitely don’t see him as low, because of his speed, his range, his pokes, and the ability to control space effectively.
The only downside I see with him is his size.

Oh good call; i was forgot about the EX chars.

Speaking of Lucky…

after seeing that challenge mode clip with heavy D i went back to the old 98 UM trailer and i found something

at like 1:35 in the background frame you can see lucky doing a combo where he links a crouching b after his spin kick and then cancels into his super.

also at the end of the movie i was thinking geese’s reppuken must juggle the opponent now like in SvC because what else would let him hit krauser with deadly rave while he’s in the air…

He has that command anti-air from RB2. At Least EX does.

YES! Does he have his missing RB2 Super?

He has that. He had the other two supers in vanilla 98, so guessing he has all 3 from RB2.
If he didn’t have one, I’d guess it would be the regular Fire Wheel, which is crap in 98 outside of corner juggles and idiots who roll into Billy anyways. A simple tap A pole spin on people who roll into Billy can do half damage on a glitch where they stick to him and take about 20+ hits. It’s like Tung’s muscleman almost.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I don’t know WHY they took that RB super from his RB version in KOF 98’ in the first place. It’s one of the best ones he’s ever had.

Have you guys seen this full intro? Here is the link.

The remix of the theme and the subsequent addition with all the nostalgic nuances kept in is FIYAAHHH

heres to hoping goenitz and yamazaki do not suck :frowning:

Have they fixed the bug where only 2P could do a normal crossup and only 1P could do the corner psuedo-crossup?

I miss the old “2, 3!” before “it all began in 94…”
