The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match

EX King Surprise Rose Super = The Perfect Anti Air…can miss if you do it too early, but as both a DM and SDM, it will anti air and make the opponent feel 14/28 hits of anguish

things i noticed from the vids:

EX king is really quite good, kinda like robert with that juggle kick move

Yashiro’s f+A will OTG

EX Robert has old hienshippukyaku

Heidern has some snapping (gunshot?) move

Heidern’s Guard Cancel Body Blow attack is different, look like close stand C animation. EX King combo to learn = cl st B xx D Mushu Kyaku, juggle with D Trap Shot. Yashiro BnB = cr A, cr A, cr A xx qcfX2 Punch super. Extra Mode looks great now! Are EX King’s DM Double Strike projectiles treated as DM projectiles or are they just 2 seperate regular projectiles?

Rugal has a faster (at least than the odl 98) kaiser wave initiation (no charge) but the rest of his normals still suck, I really REALLY wish they would rid the old 98 rule of the Geno-cutter (B version stuffs standing and low attacks, while D version stuffs ground and Jumping attakcs thus making it his AA)

His standing D has to be at least as fast as in the CvS series (I know it’s not really fast but at least faster than in 98) with Goro standing D priority.

His Jumping CD should now have the RIGHT hitbox (the 98 version’s hitbox was disorienting)

his far Standing C (the slowest normal move of all 98) should be at least as fast as Krauser’s Far C (which BTW reaches EVEN farther than Rugal’s) or does a CvS2 Haohmaru standing fr fierce damage.

And If Yamazaki and Heidern, BIG DUDES in their own right has Long range sweeps with Decent Range, Make Rugal’s 98 sweep (with a long range but a very slow-arse start-up) have the same decent speed.

And of course make his Reppuken’s as Big as Geese’s.

I watched the Youtube vid with his fight against Krauser, and Krauser although Bigger (and also was still MUCH faster) owned him to no end, The Rugal player basically had to stick with standing A’s and jumping weak attacks to initiate a combo, while Basically Krauser just did a la CvS2 Sagat of Poking him every now and there (and often working) to death.

I think double strike is a DM only aka just like aof2
lol tornado kick looks completly safe to me surprise rose rapes ex king is looking sexy

yeah i feel for rugal he looks pants still

i know EX King Double Strike is a DM, im asking if the Double Strike projectiles are treated as DM projectiles. Its much more obviously when done as an SDM according to the Arcadia picture of said move done as an SDM since they are 2 huge whoppin projectiles.

What about Billy? He still takes more damage like in original?

EX Billy looked upped, I know that, he had Dragon Rave and I know he has an anti-air fire wheel now. I’m wondering about the damage thing. I wonder if SNK screwed up in 98 and got Billy and Iori’s damages mixed up.

Dragon Rave? Is that his move from FF series or completely new?

yes.qcb+b from RB2.

I need to get back into this game. Its been awhile since i’ve played 98.I only have dc version.

ahh i got confused there, i would like to think snk had some sense and leave dm version as normal projectiles thus being beaten by something like hoahshokoken and the sdm version beating dm hoahshokoken or negating it at the very least, i guess we’ll find out soon enough

Man I am watching these vids and it makes me wonder how many people play him in NGBC…I guess we dont know it his lariat is nerfed or not because they aint using that at ALL…

It’s not a lariet in kof, it’s a usless multi hitting move he has in 96, that’s why nobody is using it

couple of things i noticed in that vid that starts with heidern v krauser

When heidern throws you with C you fall differently also you fall alot closer possible done so you can attempt a cross up.
Is it me or does heiderns projectile with C (hp) seem faster?
Krausers suplex range is still good and it still gets your to the corner fast.
kaiser wave looks ridiculous look how fast it is

To me Mr big looks very faithful to his 96 apperance, all of his moves look the same as they were in 96 of course he has added moves like the grab the overhead, his air CD is EXACTLY the same it looks just as fast as it was in 96.
the only thing i dont know is if his DP still has MASSIVE auto guard it did in 96 making one of the best anti airs in that game, it still looks like it does have just as good priority.
A couple of things you might wanna check is if standing far hp can be cancelled like it could be in 96 which made him a pain to deal with because you think his gonna poke but then goes into something else like hcbP or his power wave type move which was handy, especially near the corner and on counter hit allowing you a free juggle.
the only thing i’ve noticed so far different from his 96 apart from his new stuff is that down D knocks down where as in 96 it did not

Something else i dont ever remembering saisyu being able to connect his qcfx2+p super off of his lp? can anybody confirm this for me i’m trying it as i type on normal 98 and it dont seem to work prehapes something new for him?

So they did keep him almost the same as 96…thats what I was wondering…if they molded him 96 style or if hes a toned down version of KOFXI or what…

Also I’m digging EX King…she looks good…

i haven’t seen the vids but ex king certainly sounded good on paper. I’m hoping that ex andy is improved.

He has his 95 dam breaker series and the first couple of hits look completly safe if blocked, other than that i have not seen anything new

EX Kings surprise rose crosses up like a bitch also just watch the vid when she beats EX andy it’s ridiculous

tsukache’s got more vids

notes:

EX Terry has round wave (but it has kinda a weird animation like power geyser) and is cancellable into other specials

EX Terry’s SDM geyser uses a different (new?) geyser graphic

Power wave looks different too

Chris’s dash slide from his dash punch knocks down now

EX Mai’s Ryuenbu knocks down

EX Mai has kagerou no mai and it looks really weird

EX Mai’s chouhissatsu shinobibachi is upward aimed

also did anyone else see this? it was in this preview but i guess i glossed over it

about 1:30 it shows Heavy D in challenge mode and demonstrates a couple things:

shadow is now a DM, DM version allows use of 3 shadow moves while the SDM version more

the shadow ground punch now juggles the opponent

shadow blast upper causes a juggle state if the second hit misses the opponent in the air

heh 98um looks hot so far. from what ive seen in the vids it looks like top tier stayed the same or got slightly toned, and everyone else got beefed up. i like that kinda balance. looking forward to playing it and the fobs are probably gonna eat it up too

Lucky Glauber with MORE BASKETBALLS! Watch the eff out.
