It’s not just Athena, Billy, Kim. Vanessa, Kula, and Choi are up there too. Add Leona and Angel if you go by Korean tiers. OG 2k2 has pretty broad top tier compared to other KoFs.
iori’s metro win portrait is a lol
I like hinako but her attacks need more range really
and Bao=win
Xiangfei is somewhat passable, but yeah Hinako and Bao are really terrible designs.
That said, I think they are all fun to play with.
bao eats peoples souls for breakfast
case and point: kensou
I’m i the only person that prefers nameless over k9999?
I noticed alot of old moves from 99 in there kyos super ioris super, ryos complely useless qcbp, jhuns DD+d stance D button looks just as fast as it was in 2000/99, no more neowave lag on it.
Also noticed a remix of k teams theme from 99 also, i’d love an 99 aof remix also, one of the best themes ever imo.
I must say when i first heard about 2002 um i thought it was too early, but it’s looking nice how it plays though, we’ll just have to wait and see, ijust hope it’s not 98um, stick in a couple of new chracters and make them too good ie krauser geese, i have a bad feeling it could end up that way, anyway still looks good, whens it hitting? this year or next?
Hinako is a brilliant character, y’all are* trippin’.*
I am serious huge excited about this remake.
i noticed in one of the vids that Nameless has a double command attack like elizabeth: that forward kick (prolly f+B) from close C into his drill
kyo’s 99 super being back is badass
That’s why you modify it and make it better, not make it unimportant.
Making it unimportant is the best upgrade it could get.
How do you exactly “modify and make better” crap like that aside from NOT toning it down?
yeah definitely.
by the way, is there any other important changes involving gameplay or meter management?
In which game was Bao good? I tried him out in 99 for psx but I never got into that particular game.
Actually you know what, I don’t think much if anything should be changed about maxmode. Most of the complaints of this mode are by people who can’t even do the simplest max combo. Besides, it has many other uses that are often overlooked. The only problem is that some characters don’t benefit much from it outside of the combos so they need to change the characters. Also, make the activation time smaller (almost instant?). Some max combos could use toning down (Vanessa’s for example) but not many.
I think it could be a good idea to bring in the Extra mode meter and have that used for maxmode as well (and cancelling ilnto maxmode from a normal, would cost maybe half the bar).
2k1
he could chain together his rolling/bouncing moves for pretty sweet damage, super cancel into his giant explosion psycho ball, and had an infinite after any knockdown :lovin:
So make it even worse?
Maxmode should stay , since this is 02UM, not 98UM, however, Maxmode comboing should not be more damaging then DM combos, as Maxmode combos are easier to start.
The real issue is that some chars get too much from it (like you admitted for Vanessa/Kim), and others get nothing from it who could use a boost from it.
However, given the removal of moves that would have caused infinites with maxmode, it’s obvious Eolith tacked it in there as a gimmick. That’s why it’s unpopular among some oldschoolers.
How would Neowave-style cancelling work as a replacement for BC mode. Curious since I’ve never gotten to play Neowave.
I don’t mind BC combos, its like a custom combo in most cases. Plus it takes two stocks which is a decent amount of meter. Im not very good at 2k2 or anything but I don’t really think it was that big a deal. (of course I never played against a vanessa player) If they tone down the damage a bit so you can’t do full life in one combo and can only get like half life it won’t be that big a deal I imagine.
Why should they be less damaging than DM combos…they technically are unless the max combo ends with a DM which most usually do. I don’t know what you mean by them being easier to start, unless you mean they can be started from more things such as overheads…but without that, overheads would not be very useful. How many times do you see overheads used in kof98 where you can’t combo off them (besides Roberts, which is too good for a variety of reasons).
Thing is, almost everyone can make use of it. Name me a character that doesn’t and isn’t too obscure (Chin, and even he can technically make use of it).
Personally, I think Bao was good in 2k, because he could control space pretty well because he was so small, and his projectiles were large. If there was any time that you would be in danger, just throw out a Striker, and that generally would save you unless you were too predictable.
Tell me what Ralf and Clark can do in BC mode.
clark can use bc mode with close c 2 hits hcbx2+BC as a hitconfirm
Clark needs to be able to chain throws into other throws or something crazy like that. And give him his backfist back in some way.
Ralf just needs one or two more special moves that don’t knock down and make a special property for the spinning backfist so it doesn’t knock down till the last hit.
