Watched your videos, you have a good zoning as well as anti-air game, but your footsie game…needs much improvement. Your footsie game relies on doing a focus attack and hoping it attacks, on multiple times you let go which leaves you WIDE OPEN with no contact with ken. That’s all I really say, focus, focus, focus. Learn to use sagat’s excellent normals. Sagat’s st.lk, cr.mp, st.mp, st.hk all stuff ken’s fwd+mk. And as a bonus st.lk can be cancelled into LTS or TK. You should really stop on the focus and only use it when you properly predict he’s going to do a move, not just throwing it out there whenever he’s close. Btw if Ken is in your face and crosses you up, st.mp will teach him to not do that again, or a auto-cross jab TU (st.mp is easier and more reliable). You have a good Sagat with nice kara shots, good use of anti-air and well-spaced hadoukens, but your footsie game is weak. I was exactly at the stage where you are now. If someone closes in on you you don’t know how to deal with it so you focus. The best advice I received was ‘if someone enters Mago’s footsie range he promptly kicks them out’. Concentrate more on footsies in your matches as opposed to other areas, so you can improve. You also have a solid rushdown game, add some overheads to it to begin the mixup craze (for example cr.lk, cr.lk, overhead, if you do it again and opponent blocks high, c.mk>hadouken, simple but effective). Good luck on levelling up.
I appreciate you trying to give me advice but I only posted the videos for people to watch lol. I know the match ups.
Lol. You really think doing kara uppercut fadc is a waste of bars? I don’t kara uppercut for no reason. Look at when I do it, look at the situation, think about why I did it. They are not waste of bars. If you don’t know I’ll explain lol.
It’s not like I don’t know I can EX TU it’s that on stick my execution is terrible. I’m not comfortable on stick where I can just do uppercut straight away. There are plenty of other ways I use to deal with far RH and I know about neutral jump MK but there’s a reason why I don’t like doing it but it is good if you do guess right.
I do cr.MP for a reason lol. I didn’t do it in the video but there’s a set up I use when I do cr.MP to punish hurricanes. Lol, it wasn’t on purpose to jump back. It was an accident why would anyone jump back on purpose? lol.
I don’t consider my Sagat great on stick. On stick I don’t feel comfortable zoning or even throwing fireballs it’s weird. lol yeah I know. I know you was trying to help but it was getting me kind of  reading if you know where I’m coming from. lol. Sorry but thanks.
LOOOL! It’s arcade init! If it wasn’t for the arcade or sessions I wouldn’t of learnt stick. I’m still pad at home and tourneys though!
Pad all day everyday. :smokin:

Set against a solid Akuma player

Y’all watch this pls and tell me what you think. I know I drop a few combos and get a bit antsy at times fishing for counterhits, and I focus in way too many situations I should have just blocked… but who doesn’t :wgrin:
Bear in mind Akuma is one of my worst match-ups as well.
OMG, overhead into uppercut is godlike.

Alioune, how do u get your ultra to autocorrect out of the corner without using the level2 focus?

is it ryan hart?
yeah
Why is your meaty of choice c.MP on wakeup vs claw? You still use quite a bit of c.LK but you’re definately not afraid to pull out the c.MP.
Does it have to do with the increase frame advantage on block? Like if claw presses something after your c.MP, your s.LK or c.LK will beat it out?
Just curious because you seem to pull it out fairly often and thats just a button I never use on wakeup. I use c.LK exclusively on wakeup so it would be interesting to hear if c.MP is actually better or whatnot vs certain characters.
Thanks Alioune for the vids btw…ridiculous matches.
Even if you don’t “need” the advice at least thegame is providing solutions or possible actions to implement (for those other people who watched the videos) where your sagat fell short on the videos posted. Also you said you had a setup for hitting a whiffed tatsu with c.MP but you never even explained it, only laughed. Definition of counter productive.
Just wanted to say thanks to thegame for actually watching videos and tryin to make comments on where people could potentially improve, or where someone who is watching the video and is struggling with the same concepts can step up their game.
Lastly, thinking your sagat is so great its impervious to criticism/improvement…holy wow.
Lol… Did you even read the “advice” he gave me? I’m sorry but I don’t need someone telling me that me setting up kara uppercuts to burn 2 bars is a waste. Especially when I got full health do I need it for Ultra? No offence I understand he was trying to help me, but I didn’t ask for advice. I don’t know if you can even try to understand my feelings but for someone to try and help me with things I already know or telling me I’m doing this wrong is not nice.
I don’t understand why I would have to share and explain the reason I punish whiffed tatsu’s with cr.MP. I would love to share a lot of things especially fireball traps but the Sagat community really doesn’t share anything big.
Wow, did it somehow come across to you that I implied that my Sagat was SO GREAT that I didn’t need improvement? No I understand where I need improvement but I don’t need criticism I never asked for or advice I already know.
hey guys this is my match from a recent tournmaent against probably the 2nd best player in my community. i lost pretty bad but if someone could point out what i was doing wrong i would greatly appreciate it.

You wasn’t patient enough. You was delaying a lot of your TS for no reason not putting in any threat or preasure with your TS’s. Don’t ever throw RH low tiger and dash. If you ever need to dash forward then throw short low tiger. There was once when you was on your way to perfecting that you missed a combo. After cr.short you have plenty of time to hit confirm into cr.jab. Just 1 frame slower then hit confirming Boxers jabs. You should understand that’s a lot of time lol.
lol yh i was really nervous i dunno it happens to the best of us when somethings not going your way you tend to rush and make mistakes.
Advice/constructive criticism please to improve my game:

@ Slizzle: When anyone gives advice it isn’t like ‘do this now’ it’s merely a suggestion, should you wish to take it or not. I do not know the extent of your knowledge or gameplay, but the kara shoryuken was set up while you were pressing the advantage and he was being defensive, so it simply resulted in being blocked. It should be used when the other is being offensive or playing footsies. Both times you set it up and both times no connection, since the opponent was in a stance of defending. Same with the 2nd time, he was zoning, you jumped, he entered defensive mode. For Kara TU done right 7:31. Valle was in footsie range and wanted to press the advantage. Richard read him and Kara TU. That 2 bars could’ve saved that first match, but hey what do I know. I’ll refrain from ‘criticizing’ you since you are clearly far better than me in terms of mindgame.
@darkscythe: Your zoning, why were you conservative with your fireballs, full screen when he had no ex? You want guile away from you, and that’s the chance to throw repeated tiger shots which he has no clear answer for. A rule of thumb I like to go with vs guile is a higher tiger shot for his sonic boom, then after it’s eliminated a low fast tiger shot so while charging he has to block and it’d chip him. It comes down to a matter of chipping the others health. Many times he throws a fast Sonic Boom instead of neutral jumping you block it. Normally you might have jumped since I don’t know how much nervousness has affected you (I’ve been there), but you’re Sagat, the king of projectiles. Even when Guile is out of jump range you were conservative with tiger shots. That’s the best way to pressure Guile, I want him to be in a fireball war with me. Also most players in a fireball war when they get EX, tend to use it as soon as they get it, which the Guile did plenty of times. If you predicted that you could be ready, neutral jump on reaction, make his EX go to waste and stockpile on yours (you did quite a good job on stockpiling, but not baiting his EX). That Guile was sick though, especially his corner knockdown game. Another thing to work on should be your normals. Guile walking towards you, means he has no charge, if in st.HK range use that, then there’s st.LK to TS, etc. You let him come to you for free a lot and pressure you, while you were just blocking, and if you weren’t blocking while he was coming to you you were focusing (I used to do this when I was nervous, focus when my opponent was in melee range). I think that was it, the best way to get rid of nervousness is just play a lot of tourneys or get into the mindset it’s a normal match. Best of luck improving, with a better fireball game and use of normals you’d be a tough opponent.
@mexicant: Thanks, I try to contribute, as well as learn.
