I find doing double qcf motion really helps with mist step. It seems to be a shortcut. I can mist step all day doing it like that. It’s also easier to do in combos.
Awesome, I will check them out.
My execution is not good… I do remember an old vido that had kaz doing slaughter hook into crouch fierce into EX slaughter hook into crouch strong into an ender (usually the gutpunch) but is still a combo (or does it push the opponent too far back)? and if it is… is it a viable proxy for the EWGF follow-up.
In Maximillian’s video i do see that kaz can follow up a ground bounce into a crouching attack --> TGF (thundergodfist) with follow up kick
in the corner you can connect a cr.mp before you do a cr.hp
i cant do the ewgf no matter how hard and fast i try lol. i thought it was me so i loaded tekken 6 and tried it an di had no problems lol. how the hell do u do it in sfxt lol
Yo Blaze what’s good man, Try doing DP then pressing punch real quick. I do that and I get them out all the time lol
YOU SIR ARE GOD TO ME!!!

Got to play my team of Kazuya and Rolento in Cross for a bit at an event, only got someone to record two matches early on since he couldn’t be bothered to hold the camera lol. Looking forward to buying the game on Friday here in London. Always like to document some early days footage of me playing a new game Apologies for the camera quality.
I appreciate it. =]
Just a few combos while experimenting this morning and last night.
EWGF starter:
EWGF, EWGF, 2mk, TGF ~ lk follow up
EWGF, EWGF, 2mk, EX Slaughter Hook, WGF/EWGF or TGF (may be able to get more out of this but, think you have used up the juggle limit by the time you get to slaughter hook)
EWGF, EWGF, 2mk, 236+PPP (nice damage here, his super does tons of damage and due to the lack of hits scaling isn’t taking it out on the damage).
Some links I believe will be important for pressure:
2lk, 5lp ~ 5mp x HS / EWGF /TGF / SH. Nearly all of his specials llink out of the 5lp ~ 5mp chain and its linked from a low. I wouldn’t waste meter on it though cause the damage scaling, just use for corner push or mix up purposes.
5lk ~ 5lp ~ 5mk x HS / EWGF / TGF / SH. Another important string and you can hit co into juggle specials, go for wall push etc.
2mp links to 5lp ~ 5mp, another 2mp, 2fp… just to name a few, up close c.mp will be a great way to start pressure strings.
General Pressure/ Footsies:
5hp: Great range mid attack, hits many crouching characters (all?) and cancelable to mist step or whatever you like. Mist step gives you many good pressure options with wave dashing into ewgf or going for a high low mix up with HS to K or P ender.
2mk: Another great poke and good for footsies along with 2hk. 2mk ~ 2rh is a great whiff punish. 2mk by itself is another great poke to cancel into mist step.
still wont come out lol
Learning Kazuya is a pretty cool process compared to other characters in the cast, his advanced stuff is easy it seems like, just a ton of buffering inputs instead of trying to do frame tight links.
Really not sure the best way to do Mist Step though, I end up just churning out double qcfs to get the Step to come out, every other way has been inconsistent for me, but I don’t see too many downsides to this method. Hes beastly for sure though, 350-400~ meterless combos that aren’t even execution heavy, his movement seems to be the most fluid out of all the Tekken cast, alongside Hwoarang and a few others. I’m sure as new and optimized tech comes out he’ll become even more of a dominant force.
Also, what does Kazuya have for crossups? I haven’t been able to get anything to really crossup.
Try a tight. meat upper just like t6 and end with d/f + punch button at same time, that is how I seem to get them to come out the most consistently.
J.mk seems to cross from a good distance away. J.mp also can change peoples perception and you can hit them from the front. I think his cross game will actually be good.
I was in the same boat as you lol. Try doing HCF, it seems to work every now and then.
Does the Autoguard of Kazuya’s Gutpunch work the same way as say Kyo’s Aragami (qcd+A) in KOF?
Alright, i just wanted to hop on and say that i am into sfXt…every tekken game i keep on sayin no more Mishima’s!! EWGF combos made my nerves in my hands horrible…reached a point that i hit up a doctor because of hand shake severely!!
and again, am here kazuya haha.
wanted to say couple of stuff that might help people?
-first off, i am noticing people saying cr FP or stFP~ ewgf…i dont think this is even possible? from my checks, u cannot do an EWGF unless it’s raw? so if this is true and u can prove u can do, please show it in a video cause this is stiring a huge conversaion on the ast coast scene here.
-Secondly, to know if u did either EWGF or WGF and train on pullin them out.
if u held any button down (lets ssay any kick) and u tried to preform a wave dash…it wont simply come out!!
though, if u did ewgf correctly while holding the button, it will come out! that means, it’s back like TTT T3 system, were wave dash are separate from EWGF/ mist step for kazuya’s case (just the name, while tekken wise, Kazuya didnt have wave dash in TTT).
to get to the point, to get ur EWGF training, hold down any button to stop u from doin the wave dash and then practice out ur EWGF.
-third. i got some combos i will share some. EWGF gives amazing properties due to faster recovery and few push back.
so :
Non corners:
- 2xEWGF st FP~ WGF or desired finisher
-ewgf, st.fp~ wgf, Super (qcf+ppp)
-cr+mp,cr+mo, cr+mk~ wgf, st~fp~ long waved dash wgf. qcf+PPP
-ewgf, ewgf, st.fp~ex WGF, qcf+ppp (highest damage so far from raw ewgf) 540. only wgf moves
-cr mp, cr fp~ wgf , st.fp~ wgf, qcf+PPP
is i have tons, but u guys apparently know most of them…hopefully i will post em on youtube.
great stuff guys! and ty for confirming the EWGF because peeps though i was crazy here haha
extra stuff for now:
-cr+mp is amazing for frame traps
-EWGF is PERFECT for any anti air PERIOD! amazing pressure
-mind games of cr+mpx2, cr+mk~qcf+P(charge cancel) for pressure. as well as a mix up for armor or simply pressure.
also an extra tactic cr+mpx2, cr+mk will put u in a safe distance for a footsie of b+lk,lp,mk, finisher mix up
-cr+mp into wave dash gives of course the invincibility on kaz’s hurtbox…u can even duck low by down the demon sweep! so it’s a complete mind game! wave dash can be a threat in this game as well…so for example, cr+x2~ wave dash mix up
-apparently wgf is either -1 or neutral on block? it feels like it…can anyone confirm this?
-also does anyone know cause REALLY it seems that raw cr+mp is complete + advantage or nuetral worst case…anyone can confirm?
SFXT DAY -7 lol: ? (HEI/KING) VS Zade (KAZ/ROL) MATCH 2

And here is another one, again it’s incredibly early gameplay but thought why not.
Can someone explain this EWGF stuff for those who have never played Tekken? As far as I can tell, he has no moves with that abbreviation. From what I can gather it’s a special just-frame type of thing off of his mist step with M or H, or maybe just a special version of his step. Does it have an EX version? How exactly is it performed? When it is mentioned in this thread, is it really the special version being mentioned, or isn’t it, because in the other thread people were mentioning EWGF long before EWGF was confirmed to be in the game. Sorry, I really have no knowledge of Tekken
dunno this might be useful but you can buffer EWGF during a forward dash… also you can cancel EWGF off of normals… i like to do standing fierce ~ EWGF. i input the EWGF as soon as the backfist hits… heres a vid of me messing around in training

some ppl say doing double QCF motion is easier for mist step
but the tekken way was always been :f: N :df: + P
and if you do all that fast enough you’ll get EWGF, but my execution sucks ill probably land like 1 ewgf ina real match =(
