I looked into the combo thread and eightbO posted that combo up but with an lk wind roll for meter to start it. I’m definitely stealing that as it also fixes the distance if you were to hit ws explosion from a further range, not to mention does more damage than what I’m currently using. Ya’ll are doing some good work around these parts of the forums. I have to say I’m impressed.
I didn’t even know about the counter hit properties of the game after a chargeable Ex-Move dash cancel. The CADC combos into PC are really interesting but I’m skeptical about how practical they are. I’d really like to do more testing with just charging to an ex-move and approaching with toward and forward. If I can find ways to get that to hit, it’s a free jump-in combo because of the crumple – so long as they are hit standing.
I also noted that it counter hits only for one normal. So if you charge to EX > dash cancel and whiff a normal, then the next normal will not counter hit. No whiffing crouching strong for meter building if you want the counter hit from this.
I was actually gonna do another live video tutorial today but I’m tired as crap.
Not putting you on blast, but this isn’t the correct mentality. It’s not just an “expectation”, it’s a RESPONSE to identifying that it actually happen and then PUNISHING it.
… unless you mean if you recognized that you mistimed the punish and then back dashed.
I havent been able to consistently pull up the CADC combos yet so i cant say how good they are yet =p. That meaty set up is pretty good that you posted, It works good off the super hard knockdown been catch alot of people with that. They wise up after a hit or 2 so don’t be spamming it too much.
PS. Also before i head to bed thanks for that vid it really upped my game with Julia. Hope to see more. Now i need to work on Juri lol… but i might change my second. I like her but i just suck with her lol. Currently my matches are mostly won by juila herself. I need to fix that.
i have seen hard knockdown frames somewhere. its something like 25+30 where in the first 25 frames is where you knock them down. and the rest is either the regular wakeup or roll wake up. it might be 30+25 im not sure its definatly somewhere on srk forums.
Oh yea, she has elements of Yun, no doubt, with the lunge (punch) and how she shoulder tackles. That said, I somehow get vibes of Makoto from this character, but it’s like you said, she uses her fists instead of slapping, but I also feel like if there was stun in this game, she’d be doing tons of it.
Well, I ran into some of the dumbest stuff the other day online playing as Julia…
Guile with auto tech gem paired with Zangief auto-block gem… Cannot open guile and Zangief will just walk you to the corner… It didn’t help that the match had a bad connection…
I personally hope that assist gems are banned in tournaments…
Lol. Was it me? Cause I’ve been running that team since day 1 to help prove auto gems need to be banned.
In other words, still really liking Julia, doing Law/Julia right now. I’m playing kind of an unusual style, as few knockdowns as possible while maximizing opportunities for resets into mixups. So like with Law I’ll do close mp, cr mp, cr mp xx qcb + k (the three hitting kicks move) for like 300+ damage, tag Julia in and immediately hold up toward and press air mk. Depending on when I press the tag button, that mk will either cross up or not. I’ll land and do the red orchid string into p. If hit, I’ll do 350 damage or whatever with red orchid ex tiger cadc party crasher, link red orchid, then decide if I want to tag Julia out or not. If not, I’ll finish red orchid with lk wind link cr lp, cr lp, back+mp~lp to leave myself right up close at +4 for mixups. If yes, I’ll end red orchid with tag. If I’m midscreen, I’ll go for high/low Law mixups. If I have the opponent in the corner, I’ll do jump lk, and it’s a crossup or not depending on when I press the button, land, st lp, cr mp, cr mp. If hit, great, another 300+ damage combo into reset. If not, oh well, I’m still close enough for high/low Law mixups.
I know I’m giving up potential damage with this strat, but right now I’m thinking I’d give up 100 more guaranteed damage to get a much higher potential for 300 damage, and I think the best way to do that is to keep the opponent standing. I love that Julia’s throw leaves her at just about the exact spot an opponent would roll to, allowing for great ambiguous crossup jump/low attack mixups. I like some of her knockdown meaty setups, they’re great if you’re guessing right. But I’m gonna be trying out this non-knockdown reset thing to see if it’s more successful.
UltraD, Its nice that you choose to pick up Julia. I think i was the one spamming play Julia on tuesday. How are you liking Julia. I feel she has alot of potential to be pretty good.
Um I haven’t actually played with her yet, I’ve just been looking for setups in training mode. And actually my setups seem too ambiguous to be doing what I was doing before heh. I was going right from crossup mk into the toward+mk that starts red orchid, but that requires you to know which direction you’re gonna land on. I don’t always know! So I guess what I should do instead is cr lp, cr hp (so I can see which side I land on) xx ex tiger dash cancel party crasher, then continue with red orchid.
