what the heck happened @ 5:55? some bug or glitch?

It’s a bug, I think one of ATG’s videos explains how to do it. Is that one considered an easy infinite btw? :lol:

yeah, it’s this bug:

lol i still need to see if sdio can pull this off

by the way, the bug seems to be char specific. i couldn’t get it to work with midler and some others.
definitely works against jotaro and abdul, and probably more.

How would one advise that I actually learn this game?

by playing it?

as far as atthegates gave the FBA with cheats, I’d like a few more which might interest others here. simply copy and paste the lines in your cheat file.

cheat "Character PL1 "
default 0
0 "Disabled"
1 "N’Dool (Glitchy) ", 0, 0x203489F, 0x09
2 "Vanilla Ice (Boss Mode) ", 0, 0x203489F, 0x0C
3 "Death 13 ", 0, 0x203489F, 0x0D

cheat "Cute PL1"
default 0
0 "Disabled"
1 “Enabled”, 0, 0x2034AB2, 0xFF

cheat "Character PL2 "
default 0
0 "Disabled"
1"N’Dool (Glitchy) ", 0, 0x2034CBF, 0x09
2 "Vanilla Ice (Boss Mode) ", 0, 0x2034CBF, 0x0C
3 "Death 13 ", 0, 0x2034CBF, 0x0D

cheat "Cute PL2"
default 0
0 "Disabled"
1 “Enabled”, 0, 0x2034ED2, 0xFF

N’dool is the blind guy in the desert who uses a water stand, but this cheat, as it said glitchy, would not work properly. Just to give you his profile mugshot and few water moves. (the water moves you’ll encounter with you play Jotaro in story mode)

Vanilla is the boss before you see Dio (you can tell since they have different stand mode). Also Death 13. Both are playable. Just to give you an idea of their moves. (Might be bored to use them to clear the stage, LOL)

Cute player is the version you get when hit by Alessi.

Enjoy.

Wonder Chef has God tier avatar. In order to properly learn this game, gotta take the ghetto training mode JJBA game that AtTheGates provided, and by that I mean download the emulator and rom with the cheats and use them to start training. Check out the character specific videos on BBC Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Basic combos which are on gostunv’s youtube account. Try to imitate those combos because they are the bread and butter of each character they pertain to. If you have trouble figuring out the inputs, look at the hardedge link like a page back and find the character with their links/combos. Or you can check out SRK wiki (although how useful that will be is rather tricky). Or you can just ask here xD

Sorry, guess I should have phrased that better.

Basically, I want to know if just learning some combos and trying to play on like GGPO will be enough.

Yes. Learn some basic combos, try to do them in matches, learn more advanced combos, try to do them in matches and so on. :3

To myself, I don’t think that those combos which involve walk cancel would be called bread and butter. I know I’m just in the beginning stage to this game, but even in those fancy Japanese matches I see players miss the cancel/link, not often yet still for a fair amount of time.
I can tell that combos are pretty important in this game, yet mastering cancel/link gives you more setups and damage. Jeez, wish I had a pianist fingers so I could try those Tandemu characters.

A jojoba rookie’s complaint.

Pretty much what Sinjul said. The best way is to learn certain techniques at a time and practice them on a dummy, and then on a real person. GGPO/2DF are great places for practicing against other people. If you see me online, give me a shout. I usually don’t mind helping new guys out when I’m online and not doing anything.

What everyone said before, and more.

The JJBA population on GGPO is pretty small, so show up there and play as often as you can. You’ll learn whether you’re winning or losing.

When no one is around? Practice the combos you know in the emu via savestates (or cheats), whichever you prefer.

Find videos for your characters on youtube. Check the SRK wiki, the hardedge wiki, and anywhere else you like. Experimentation is key - for example, how easily you can punish a person after throwing them (assuming they don’t tech) depends on your character. What moves can be cancelled out of depend on the character and move.

Thanks for the help guys. Gotta rep that Polnareff.

Man, you’re my friend already. Excellent main choice :smokin: If you need any tips, pleeeease dun hesitate to ask me. Converting everyone I can into Polnareff players :smile:

EDIT: Just for that, I’m going back to my old avatar xD

There’s nobody better!

I actually learned how to play a charge character on Polnareff.

Back when I got the game for Dreamcast, I sucked at fighters, and I especially sucked at charge moves. I HAD to play Polnareff though, so I taught myself.

Another question. So does everyone use a stick? I kind of assume so, and if you do, how do you have your button layout? I was messing with it today as:

1234
5678

5= Stand
1= A1
2= A2
3= A3

looks good to me =P

this game is all sortsa slicey slice slice slice.
