All those drawings are of the PSX characters. So i definitely think the game is finished, because in the PSX super story mode you played through several mini-games involving all of those illustrated characters/stages. I think bebop got the arcade version mixed up with the PSX…
Exactly what I was thinking.
Only a handfull of those weren’t used in any version. In game sprites for the characters that werent playable, still served their purpose I think.
aka, just simply to appear during the cut scenes for super story mode.
If anything feels unfinished, its s.dio / rubber soul / khan imo. Not saying these characters are bad, they are just super straight forward to play.
edit: those arcade flyers are awesome as hell tho!!!
I’ve said it before but, I think the only character that I would have liked from the manga that didn’t make it into the game was Lisalisa. Then again cyber-nazi-Guile was pretty cool too.

The DC version is a strait arcade version but rendered in 320x240 and non midi music.

I can’t play on GGPO cuz my damn computer doesn’t allow me to, but we can always get some really good sessions in via NFBA emulator and hamachi, which is really easy and I got all the links for. I see, so the best (only) thing I can try on wakeup against Hol’s setup is a crouching attack and pray that the bullet’s not that far down yet.
And yeah, Lisa Lisa and Stroheim would’ve been among my first picks as well. Jolyne too but she didn’t even exist yet at the time, heh. That said I wouldn’t call it an unfinished game, lots of games have unused material. But still it’s a pity that it’s like the Capcom fighting game least likely to ever be revisited.

That artwork is for the arcade version. I think they wanted to use it all when they realized their ideas were to big for an arcade release. The PSX version came out in October of 1999 while the original arcade release of Jojo’s Venture (which that Secret File is from) came out in December of 1998 and production probably was done in that year. Unless it says on there, all that Super Story stuff was meant for the arcade version but scraped because it was too big.

Hol Horse can do bullet setup up to 3 times. 2 times if you do Down+C sweep and use unblockable bullet early as a meaty hit, except on Devo (only once on him). Don’t shoot too early on Joseph because he is getting up later than other characters.
One last thing that is proof that this game is unfinished, none of the new characters in Jojoba have no AI coding at all.
Fight one in mame and it won’t do anything but maybe stand or walk or do a basic attack.

I dont care if its unfinished or not, its still my favorite fighting game, and playing it with people like roukyou / gamegeezer / etc etc etc, is so much fun, it makes my head explode.
Most of the information I got was from basic level digging so you’re bound to know most of it.
I love this game probably more than you do. I got the CPS3 board with the hopes of putting it into an arcade machine but I just haven’t found the right one yet.
