So, anybody down for a JJBA tourney at EVO? This thread is pretty dead these days but I’m wondering if we can organize some kinda of Jojo get together this year. Fayk? Filthie? Roukyou? Geezer? Milo? Who is going this year?
Last I heard Fayk and Milo are going. Roty is planning as well for the vsav side tourney. Filthie rich will probably be there to commentate Tekken at least.
I’m definitely going, although not so sure i’ll be lugging my ps3 with me since i’m not sure how much it will be to put an extra bag on the plane. If we get a setup, i got no problem running the event. Filthie Rich is going to be there by default, i’m sure. I know at least two other people who’d be down to play.
So I know this thread is pretty dead but I was planning on buying JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD for the PS3. I was just wondering whether or not it’s still possible to find games online anymore.
It’s hard to consistently get games and even when you do the connection is horrible (worse than Marvel? i believe…)
So what do you think? Worth the purchase or should I just opt for something else like GGPO?
And if not GGPO perhaps some other 3rd party software where I could connect with other players?
Oh and if someone could be so kind as to link some website that could jumpstart my knowledge of how the game works, that’d be great thanks.
A couple of wikis
Many of the character pages incomplete

It’s worth it in the sense that you can get a legitimate training mode (bearing in mind some slight differences to the arcade “perfect” version). Aside from that, the games netcode is utter garbage and you’ll have a hard time finding a match either way. GGPO is still amazing when it comes to finding matches, but you don’t really get a training mode to work with. An alternative to GGPO is 2DF which is now…gee, i forget the name of it. @jedpossum any help?
EDIT: just remembered, it’s Supercade.
So I’ve discovered that there are some actions when playing Jojo’s that are generally frowned upon. Can someone be so kind as to inform me what is and isn’t considered banned when playing against others?
Banned
Petshop, even though not many in the western world can play him.
Banned in Japanese tournaments
Doing a tandem or super loop more than 3 times unless you’re low on life.
Not Banned, but people will complain about it.
Iggy, It’s just people don’t like having to use different combos on him since his hit box is small.
What about Shadow Dio’s [Dash, 2A, C->S]*6? I notice on GGPO that people only ever do one rep and then end it with a 3C.
That’s more on the player. Probably, going easy on an opponent or not confident in doing more reps and deciding to end it early.
I’m new to this game on ggpo and I was wondering if there are any good tutorials for beginners?
Shadow Dio is a simple character good for beginners.
In Japan, there was a limit to how many reps Shadow Dio could do his cr. A -> C -> S rep, but i’m not sure the exact number (i think 3???). Although, for sure, all across the board, you can only use one tandem per combo unless there’s a stand crash in the combo. That’s the rules in Japan and generally respected on GGPO. Avdol’s Ankh glitch is also banned. There are too many Kakyouin glitches to list that are banned, just know you can tell it’s banned when you see it, hahaha.
Recently Japan had a large Jojo tournament in Akihabara hosted by Otojo and SQ. I just uploaded most of the matches. Over 3 hours of recent high level Jojo matches:
Enjoy.
About Jojo HD, just stick with ggpo. Most of the players still playing Jojo HD these days are from Japan and the lag makes it almost impossible to play some characters.
Check one of my posts above and you’ll see a good 2 part tutorial for beginners. Just make sure to turn the english subs.
Those videos from the Otojo Cup, do you know where it originally came from? A Niconico channel?
Thanks for those videos.
