The Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Thread!

I re-uploaded my old Dio combo exhibition plus a couple of Japanese rank matches from PSN. Hope that’s still useful for new players still checking this thread.

Sorry for the crappy video quality for the Dio video, youtube downgraded my resolution to hell and back then I was still using FBA-RR to record combos. I got an avermedia capture card now so the next one will be for Jojo HD.

Is this played more on GGPO, Supercade, or PSN/XBox360?

GGPO. Sometimes I drop by PSN and Xbox just for shits and giggles but I don’t see a single rank/endless lobby. Not even the Japanese are playing there these days.

Kane! Nice channel! Never seen it before. Thank you for uploading! Subbed.

I main Young Joseph and I’m trying to practice some characters with an active stand like Dio and Jotaro. The problem is that I have trouble doing lengthy tandem attacks (QCB+Stand). For example, Star Platinum’s sequence is L,M,H with Jotaro attacking periodically to continue the combo. My question is how do you get Star Platinum to attack for a long time? Do I need to practice pianoing the buttons? I got an American button/layout so it can be a little difficult if that’s the case

Thanks JBlair, I try to update whenever I can. Hopefully in the future I’ll create some in-depth tutorials or even commentate/analyze matches.

Well, you can either piano or slide. I know some players that prefer the slide method but I personally like the piano method. If you can get around 4-5 reps thats pretty good but some players like BBC usually go for 7 reps minimum.

My button layout is like this:

ABC
S

The important thing is not so much how many reps you can do but being able to know when the tandem is going to end so you can get the full finisher. So start with only 4 reps and slowly increase the number. Also, for Jotaro you need to hit the opponent during ABC rep so everything connects nicely. Something like (ABC) 5A (ABC) 5A…etc

If you’re near or in Sacramento area, come by tomorrow, Saturday 2/8/2014 for Jojo’s casuals ALL DAY. This relates to Heritage For The Future AND All Star Battle. We got a big tournament running tomorrow, and we can maybe do a JJBA tournament if there is enough entrants. Holler at me on Twitter if you plan to come @GamegeezerSRK

Updated one of my old scripts the Hitbox viewer for the editors. I completely rewritten it so it makes it way easier to read.

So, a couple of updates since this thread is kinda slow lately. Rotanibor and Numakie are running offline Jojo gatherings and tourneys at every Rebel Up at Super Arcade, Walnut. So if any of you guys from SoCal wants to play some offline Jojo make sure to stop by Super Arcade during Rebel Up days.

Also, I would like to share some good Jojo resources. A couple of enthusiastic players from Brazil (CoilMotor/tib) are running a blog in the same style as SQ with the purpose to inspire and teach new Jojo players. CoilMotor being very fluent in Japanese is always in contact with players like SQ & Otojo and of course he is always willing to share info. Unfortunately their blog is in Portuguese but they are uploading youtube videos as well.

I also recommend you guys check Otojo’s blog and his youtube channel:

http://blog.livedoor.jp/otojo/

This guy has some really good tech, and he is running Jojo streams on Nico Nico now and then. I just watched his tutorial guides and I was blown away by his Kakyoin and Vanilla knowledge. Its just too bad that nico nico only keeps archives of his stream for a week or so. We are truly leagues behind Japan after all.

A bit late for replying to this Jed but Otojo actually explains in his video that if you pushblock in the early frames of blocking you can recover sooner because you reduce the amount of time you character stays in blockstun.

There is some interesting stuff at the end of the video. I was not aware that there is difference of speed in super flashes between P1 and P2.

With Joesph’s Ovadrive it literally is a bug that completely ignores the blockstun and puts you in a neutral state so it’s not a timing thing.

Interesting. I personally tested and indeed you can reduce the amount of blockstun by pushblocking at the earliest frame possible.

I would think this would apply to Joseph’s Overdrive as well but maybe his Overdrive is an exception and you can remove the blockstun regardless when you choose pushblock?

Otoujo second tutorial video for beginner and veterans players is up. English captions will soon be available.

Well there is a risk to that type of pushblocking still against characters with raging demon you see in that second video.
I would talk about it more but that video covers it.

Yeah, if you pushblock it right, you can punish the Overdrive. I’ve done it with dio/polnareaff a billion times so i know it helps. Not 100% about how fast you do it since i always pushblock the instant i block an attack.

Otojo added English subs to the second part of his tutorial. He talks a bit more about Advanced Blocking (Push Blocking) and he even shows some circumstances where it’s better not to pushblock at all.

Third video tutorial is out but no English subs yet. I also started uploading his Nico stream show to my youtube channel. He often plays with SQ, WJ, and most of the top Jojo players from the Tokyo area (offline/online) so this should be interesting. I just pray that I’m awake when he starts streaming next time.

I got bored yesterday so I recorded a couple of stand crash setups for Pol on Jojo HD.

It’s just sooooooo…beautiful :")

Man, you got me wanting to get back to my old glory. I can’t do this stuff with my current lack of execution. Good shit Kane, i’ll be seeing you on GGPO soon enough broseph.

Thanks Geezer. It was nothing very fancy (it only took me 5 minutes to record) someone asked me in the lobby for Pols bnb starters so I decided to at least upload his stand crash setups. I haven’t played in a while as well, but it’s never too late to just grind it out.

On other news, WJ found some interesting glitches for Dio:

The first video shows a glitch similar to Middler. Apparently, if Dio whiffs his Facegrab super it activates next time he uses an instant air muda. You then hold down after the super ends (he starts to automatically whiff 5C) then go back to neutral (5) and press forward or back for him to start floating in mid air. He can do some interesting things in that floating state.

The second video shows a much more interesting glitch. Apparently when Dio whiffs s.2C or his rekka his instant air muda gains some of the properties of s.2C. This means that it becomes a low and causes a hard knockdown!!! This gives him a couple of mix up possibilities that WJ demostrated in the video.

  1. s.2C > Knives:

A) Instant Air Muda (low)
B) j.C (high)

  1. s.5A > s.5B > 236+B > 214+A > 214+A (whiff) > 2A:

A) Air Muda (low)
B) j.C (high)

  1. Tandem > s.2C (cancel):

A) Instant Air Muda (low)
B) j.C (high)

If Dio uses the glitched air muda in the corner he can actually fly outside screen (as shown in the boogie video).

Who plays ASB here? Just wondering if this is more a HD thread or both.

This is for Capcom’s fighter the ASB thread is in FGD.
