Interesting, ATG. Actually, are you -sure- this requires active stand characters? The reason I ask is because occasionally I can get a very interesting dash-to-direction-change with Jojo that lets me abuse the properties of his dashing-S attack. If you time his dashing S just right, instead of sliding forward, he’ll slide barely at all, or even backwards while doing it. You can do this without a direction change, but I could swear I’m getting a dash in the other direction without two inputs (I want to do two, but I’m not that fast!) I’m not explaining this well, I’ll take another stab sometime when I’m not at work.
no, i’m not sure at all, i reported this quite early after finding it. i only played around with it with active stand charas, since i discovered it with dio and figured it must be related to the input buffer and stand on/off, much like the instant air dash for ice.
How did you get ggpo to function on mac yo?
Through emulation, or pseudo-emulation. It’s a little wonky, but nice when I don’t want to reboot. I use Crossover Games, which is WINE-based (there’s a thread somewhere on SRK about it too). Two big issues with it are:
- have to use the experimental / dx9 blitter, meaning I can’t see/talk in-game.
- Sometimes doesn’t launch FBA (haha) when you start a game or spec. That’s why, if I’m in MacOS because I’m working on stuff, you’ll see me say I need to ‘make sure things work’ and I’ll challenge myself a bunch of times until it launches right, close those windows, and then be ready.
It’s a nice convenience sometimes though if I want to either chat int he lobby or simply play a few games without closing everything down and rebooting into windows proper.
Got me a new computer that needs to be assembled. This SOB is up there as far as top of the line is concerned, so hopefully this thing will allow me to play more smoothly. I should be able to record my stuff easier too. So I shall see about them fancy recordings of various “stuff” xD
My machine is pretty high-end, but I don’t like the way that Fraps affects FBA’s video (at least on my system) when playing, it throws me off. I think I’m gonna start recording our games by the spec+input record method.

It’s all about timing and repition and then from there you can develop your own interesting combos.
