The John Wick Thread

you gotta find her clips at the shooting range with john looking like a proud dad

So I’m watching the first John Wick again and something confuses me.

Viggo said John use to work for him but when John met Helen he wanted out of the world of assassins. Viggo said he would grant him retirement if he did an “impossible task” which he said John completed. Thus granting his freedom from the life.

Yet, in Chapter 2 it’s told to us that John making a blood marker with Santino is what got him out of the world of assassins.

So…?

I feel like 2 was a bit of a retcon. That’s why it feels like a rehash. Also I dunno if it’s connected but in the comics the Russians got him into the assassin world. Though after seeing part 3, I couldn’t tell if that was the Russians or Italians he grew up with. The comic also implied he only became an assassin as an adult but was trained clearly. So I dunno if they train assassins as kids and they don’t join a guild til they are an adult

Summary

Well considering we find out his real name in Chapter 3 he’s likely Italian but given a Russian name since he was an orphan. The Director trains her “kids in” in the “Theater” she runs. She’s also clearly Russian and we know he is fluent in Russian. She even asked him as they were walking around if it brought up memories of when he was young.

So I think they train them until adulthood and then start assigning them missions.

I’m thinking maybe Viggo was an associate of the high table that worked with Giovanni to help John “retire”. Cause Johns rampage on Viggo’s kid and associates clearly made a ripple effect within the world of assassins. Word probably got out that John was back which got Antonio attention which is why he made John fulfill the blood marker.

What’s up with ballet and assassins? First Black Widow now John Wick

Russians bro.

Oh, also Wick 3’s opening weekend was roughly 78M which is over double what Wick 2 made opening weekend.

Let’s keep this assassination hype train rolling!

So I’m quoting myself because I’m watching Chapter 2 right now. So my memory on everything was a little hazy.

John made the marker with Santino because he knew he wasn’t able to do the task alone and it was the only way Santino would agree to help John.

I’m wondering if it has to do with

smuggling Sophia’s daughter into hiding.
While it doesn’t seem likely due to the marker Sophia made with Wick I wouldn’t be surprised…

I also forgot that Winston gives John a marker to use at the end of the Chapter 2

The world is so interconnected. Anything John does provides world building, lore and backstory to the Wickverse. Everything he does has a ripple effect. It reminds me a lot of how the most recent Planet of the Apes trilogy worked. Everything Caesar did had a ripple effect on the world, the lore and the people and his kind around him.

Have you watched it? I watched it last Saturday and it was the best action movie for me! The movie already surpassed Avengers in box-office by the way

Look up for mine and @StuartHayden reviews of the movie

Sure!!!

After the ending… I got confused. So it means that John and Bowery will team up to attack the high table which will be the main focus in 4?

Oh, ordered the John Wick comic yesterday. Amazon says it will be here either tomorrow or Thursday. Judging by how weather has been here I’m guessing Thursday more than Wednesday.

Is it a trade or single issue?

Hardcover trade
