The Jesse Ventura, I mean Haggar Thread (MvC3)

That could make for some nasty 50/50 reset/mixup games.

Also the AA version was also unblockable. And it looked like you can’t OTG after command grabs.

How much startup for the M and H versions? I’m a little confused about the M version, is that not an AA? What is the range here? But yeah I can see some vicious 50/50 going on here. You could fail combo, do the M dashing and fuck 'em up.

Also, can someone upload that Haggar stream footage to youtube? Thanks.

i dont understand the blockable and unblockable whats the benifit for the unblockable one can you still air combo after?

Yeah lariat info from where i saw:

Completely invincible on startup both upper and lower body, goes through projectiles and physical attacks
doesn’t hit things too close to the ground, a magneto sweep just rubbed up against it.
punishable later on

all in all, decent.

edit: @ metrokard yeah you can still air combo after the unblockable one. He still throws them up in the air in all 3 versions, and you can follow with a jump in at least both of the grounded ones (not so sure about the anti-air one).

Can you link Lariat into Super? Million dollar question.

Possible tick throws and mindfuck capabilities.

I mentioned it early, but I very much think the unblockable version will be for tick throws and other setups (like Louis said).

However the blockable version is the one that you will use inside of combos, since we already know he can combo into it. I doubt he’ll be able to combo into the other version at all. That wouldn’t make sense. :stuck_out_tongue:

I see no reason why he can’t lariat xx super. I fully expect to see lariat xx bodypress, and probably lariat xx abortion punches.

Can’t wait to play this dude. It’s a huge relief to know that he has an unblockable version of his dashing grab.

Also on the stream: they couldn’t find any OTGs after Haggar’s piledriver, so he may need an assist for it. They tried violent axe, and it did not OTG. Neither did his crouching normals.

well looks like me having she hulk on the team will pay off

does anyone know if his jumping grab recovers in the air like mvc2 Zangief dp+K attack?

I am curious on how he is able to use resets…

Quick question: I’ve read that Haggar takes damage when he does Lariat but it looks to have some to full invincibility. Does this mean that anytime he Lariats he loses health? Like if he’s across the screen from the opponent and did a lariat, he would lose health? Also have we heard anything about the official name of his Lvl 3 Hyper Grab?

Every time you use Lariat it turns a good decent chunk of his Health red yes, doesn’t matter if it stops an attack or not. I don’t know if using it to stop projectiles full screen is worth it then.

Not anymore damage than one fierce punch. Doesn’t seem that bad considering everyone has combos that can do 50-75%, Fair trade: Take a little bit of damage to GTFO and link into Super and god knows what else, or just Push-Block and try to keep them off of you.

Seems worth it to me if they’re at half health and trying to rush you down. Just checking; Can Haggar do Lariat while in Block-stun?

Hmmm… Going back to the original Final Fight games, Lariat never hurt unless you actually got hit or hit someone else. It’s understandable though, since if the attack is 100% invincible, if you didn’t take damage short of connecting with something when attacking, that would be THE best assist in the game. People would throw out Lariats ALL THE TIME. It would end up just being Lariat battles for the win. Hahaha.

Eh, Lariat in FF did take a bit of health away.

Oh I know. But I am pretty sure you could throw out empty Lariat like no one’s business and not get hurt till you hit an enemy.

This is true. In old-school Final Fight you never lost health during your Special Moves unless you actually hit an enemy, unlike the Forward+A attacks in Streets of Rage 2. But yeah, for a fighting game I suppose it makes sense for it to drain health on whiff. Keeps you from just throwing it out praying to hit something and to avoid projectiles 24/7.

Thanks for all of the Haggar info, gentlemen. Keep up the great work.

Haggar Lariat assist seems like itll be a helpful tool. I wonder what type of team will work for him…I’m thinking of pairing him with Chris for sure, and then either Thor or Super Skrull.

What do you all have in mind for teams with Haggar?

someone told me he found 100% combo with haggar allready so im hopeful…also the stuff i have seen of him makes me believe he will actually be good…i just wish people would post more stuff on him
team wise
im going she hulk haggar and iron man i might switch out iron man though for hulk or sentinel becuase the way the game is going your going to need a team with high health to survive all the damage. i want to work on thor too…but were going to have to see how good i am with she hulk.
