lol at piledriver’s range. It is suppose to be used STRICTLY as a punish. If you use it for something else, prepare to get owned.
welcome to last thursday.
So…do we think we might be able to OTG with an assist off that spinny air throw (don’t know what to call it ) It doesn’t look like it, but it would be pretty dangerous if we could.
I don’t see a problem using piledriver strictly as a punish. He has other grabs that can be combo’d and used for other things. What’s wrong with having one just for quick and dirty damage?
If he has other punish combos that do more damage (I’m thinking launch grab into air combo) and can punish the same things as Piledriver, then piledriver is obsolete.
Imma guess that Piledriver can punish things that other characters/ command grabs just cannot. I hope.
Because the range and damage are both kinda ass.
Well if Piledriver’s a 1 + 0 frame punish it’ll punish ANYTHING that leaves someone right in front of ya. The other stuff could potetially have bigger startup time or something.
Indeed. If it had SF SPD style range, I could see it. As is, there’s not much he’ll be able to punish. There aren’t too many specials that leave opps right in front of you with minimal recovery, and everyone’s blocked magic series leaves them out of range.
I guess you could punish someone trying to dash in with badly placed c.A’s or slides. Or Joe and Arthur’s normals.
True enough but I don’t think it’ll make piledriver obsolete. As saw from the first gameplay video, after Haggar piledrove Chun he walk over her body to create an cross up opportunity with Mags assist. Seeing that Piledriver could open up many unblockable assist setup.
I disagree about the damage. I think it does good damage for something meant to be used as a standalone. I’m changing my mind on the range. Look at :46 on this video

Chun-Li isn’t nearly as close as Zero was in the G4 video and she got caught with piledriver.
The gimp range may very well be a specific bug/problem with Zero, and not reflective of the other characters. Hell in SSF4 Hakan’s SPD would whiff against a certain dizzy character (I think it was either Deejay or Guy?) no matter how close Hakan was. It ended up being a hitbox issue with that character. I forget if Capcom fixed it in a patch but I think they did.
Just a thought, maybe the Zero thing was due to his weird stance where he’s kinda got his front leg forward ahead of his body?[
It was Hakan’s Ultra 1 on Dudley, actually.
Yeah, the only time we saw haggar Wiff piledrover at a ridiculous range was that one crazy (and almost certainly glitchy) zero whiff. All the others were waaaaaaay out of range, and the others landed. Imma wait until further notice to put the final nail in this coffin.
Mike Haggar nerd fact: In Final Fight 2 he was 6’10" In Final Fight 3 he was 6’7"
I guess what they say is true. You really do shrink as you get older.

Haggar lariat assist causes red-health damage even if he isn’t hit.
Invincible assist, maybe?
Lariat giving him red damage is a reference to Final Fight, nice touch Capcom =3
BTW what do you guys think of Haggar’s voice?
It’s very manly.
It’s pretty good. Shoulda got somebody like Jamieson Price (or the all powerful Clancy Brown), but his current voice works too.
I swear that is Jim Cummings
he also had a ponytail in FF3. :wasted: Let’s pretend that game never existed m’kay?
