The inevitable tier thread

Watch immortalbmw. LOL @ anyone who think claw v ken in hdr is better then 6-4 hell he stil counters ryu imo 6.5-3.5 fake fb is nice but it doesn’t make his jumpin any slower:rofl:

I still say top4 (boxer, claw, sim, gat) are taking evo:rofl:

As for the idiot that negged me about doing homework, hit me up and prepared to get schooled, son. The tag is by my avatar, you scrubby loser. I’ll thank you for the gorgeous time after I’m done with you, kid.

I LOL@anyone who doesn’t believe a person isn’t entitled to their own opinion.

Dude don’t let it get to you.

Let them rep all they want. There is no reason to check your rep comments, nor care if you have an C-groove or a K-Groove.

(Also it’s getting annoying to read, you complaining about it)

Look, I don’t care about whether your opinion meshes with mine at all, but you have to stop all this rage over the rep. Regardless of whether your initial post warranted it, these reactions are bad posts, these aren’t constructive, and do deserve the negative rep you’ve been getting. Don’t lash out at those who give you negative rep. Don’t resort to insults or calling them “scrubby little losers” and such. It’s obnoxious. If you feel that your negative rep is ill-deserved, just prove them wrong by being a constructive poster. Nobody is going to care about your rep bar if what you have to say has merit. If, on the other hand, you’re just ranting about rep, it’s going to look fairly accurate.

Shari and je110:

You are both right. Didn’t think about it till I read both your posts. Rep system is irrelevant to this conversation, it needs its own thread, so I’ll just let it be.

Anyways, Is there some preliminary tier lists for HD Remix? I know that Eventhubs.com has a tier thread for Classic at:

http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/oct/31/super-street-fighter-2-turbo-hd-remix-tiers-character-rankings/

But is there another site that has some tier rankings for HD Remix?

I always thought N. Ken was better since he gained knee bash, new j. mk, and the ability to tech throws. I guess his dps were really that much better.

Unfortunately I’m on a old computer that doesn’t like streaming videos so I’ll have to wait a while to watch these. That said Claw does have a really good ground game. He has all sorts of mix ups and tricks. For example I just recently found out that Claw can vertically jump to avoid a reversal DP (the timing might be really tight on this, though) then roundhouse Ken on the way down. Also, Claw can punish Ken’s jab DP depending how how early it hits.

I can’t imagine trying to jump in on Ken being a good idea without some intense mindgaming before hand, though. That said, is full screen wall dive fake safe? It seems that fierce SRK shuts down any sort of wall dive (at least the ones where Claw jumps to his side of othe screen first).

As far as I know, at completely full screen, it misses. Even a step closer, and Vega usually gets nailed

same goes with fake wall dive vs. blanka roundhouse vertical ball

completely safe from max distance, a single step forward will get hit

I’m gonna take a stab at the tier list, though I’m probably really wrong. Feel free to make corrections:

Broken

Akuma

Upper

Dhalsim
Balrog (Boxer)
Sagat
Vega
Bison (Dic)
Ryu

Mid

Chun-Li
Ken
Dee-Jay
Guile
Honda
Blanka

Low

Zangief
Fei-Long
Cammy
T. Hawk

I can’t see Ryu, Sagat, and Dic in the top.

The nerfs to Sagat’stiger shots and uppercut take him out and put him in mid.

Ryu got a Fake Fireball, which helps him in zoning characters that he already zoned to death anyway, so I can’t see him moving up.

The only reason I’d put Dic in the Top is if DR is proven to be amazing, but I personally don’t see it helping him THAT much to put him in the top. He STILL gets rocked when cornered 75% of the time.

Like you Noriega, I figure I’m probably wrong as well. Theory Fighter FTW!

Oh and you can probably put Blanka back in the low tier. Blaming my losses on picking a low tier character is all I have left!

I’m laughing extremely hard.

that list is way too condensed and hawk is not the worst in hdr.

top

sim
rog
claw

high

chun
ryu
dict
dj (i think so but most people put him at the top of the mid tier)

mid

guile
sagat
honda
hawk
ken
blanka
gief

bottom

fei
cammy

mid tier is the most jam packed but i think thats just about right because i dont see any characters in the mid tier actually being shoved to high or pushed to bottom.

yes hawk in the middle of mid tier.

You’d be a hoot at the family dinner table if that’s all it takes for you to laugh.

I can see it now…

DAD: Son this is how it is in HDR. Akuma is bahroooken.

MURDERBYDEATH: roflcoptor, pops you too OG for this game, let me show you how it’s played. loser gets pushed down the stairs…

I don’t play enough of the cast to be entirely sure, but if I were to try to organize a tier list, this is probably very close to what my estimates would be.

Something like that.

That seems fairly accurate, I might put Fe above gief or possible above blanka…but yeah it’s pretty close.

This thread has long been fucked to hell but I’ll post anyways just for the +1 count.

You seem to forget tier lists are based on matchups not this theory fighter bullshit you and 90% of this thread relyupon. That being said why do you think sagat’s nerfs automatically make him midtier? if you’re to make that claim you better have sound logic as to how his nerfs affect his matchups that badly. Fake fb is not jsut good for zoning it was actually there primarily to bait jumpins from sim a character shotos have a lot of trouble with not to mention it’s good for throw mixups, he was high tier in vst so getting a pretty good buff can’t lower him. Before commenting on how you rock dic’s (no pun intended lol) I hope you’re talking about players who represent the him to his fullest ability.

Everyone can debate tiers all day long but 1 fact that will go undisputed is boxer and claw are a step above everyone else (not counting akuma not because some think he’s broken but because he’s banned so it doesn’t matter.)

Orochi,

I was commenting specifically on Noriega’s Tier list, which doesn’t have High Tier. He listed Upper, mid, and low only. Using a three Teir setup I just can’t see Sagat, Ryu and Dic hanging with Claw, Rog, and Sim.

Let’s just say I think that Sagat probably isn’t Tops anymore based on the nerfs to his Tiger shots and the big ass hit boxes on his arms. I agree that he is still a very good character, and he can zone like a bastard. I’d put him in High Tier if you’re using Upper, High, Mid, and Low as a Template.

Ryu’s fake fireball is a GREAT tool, I’m just not convinced that it shoots him up to tops. It helps him destroy characters who already had trouble with zoning, and gives him some nasty tricks.

I think Dic stays where he’s at, as the reversal DR is not a 100% guaranteed get out of jail free card. I thought it was a generally accepted fact that if Dic gets cornered VS grapplers and characters with a strong throw game, then he’s done. I wasn’t making a claim based on my limited experience with mid-level players on Xbox-Live. The DR as a reversal has been argued to death in the ST vs HDR thread, and I don’t want to get into that here.

My own personal opinion is that it didn’t really help him that much. Of course I’m wrong about tons of shit, so I wont’ be surprised if everything I’ve written in this post turns out to be complete BS.
