The inevitable tier thread

My only real bitch about Honda is his the stored Ochio.

Lesson learned: Designers have a favorite character design bias… [Looks at Sirlin] … But, I guess that is a perk of actually being the lead designer! Can’t say I blame him! :xeye:

Yeah, I main guile, when somebody does jab headbutt I either back fist them or crouching fierce kick or a flash kick, but most usually a sweep cos it always connects

Don’t you have to wait for the fireball to make it off screen?

Jab headbutt neutralizes the FB (like another projectile), rather than passes through it, allowing for another projectile as soon as Ryu recovers

I don’t think that’s correct…

Tested it several times and saw video confirmation, jab headbut passes through ryu’s fireball just like it does for every other character’s projectile.

Honda’s super will go through projectiles after he is airborne. Jab headbutt doesn’t pass “through” any characters’ projectile. Honda’s jab headbutt nullifies a projectile the same way Zangief’s green hand does. As soon as this happens, the other character is free to throw a projectile since he isn’t trying to break the “one fireball on the screen at a time” rule.

Nope, sorry, jab headbutt destroys fireballs.Would be interested in seeing your video confirmation that it doesn’t.

Take a look at this clip:
-theelo (honda) vs. damdai (ryu)

0.23, and 1.03 are good examples of a jab headbutt neutralising a fireball. The fireball never makes it off screen, same as if it had collided with another projectile like a sonic boom or whatever. 1.03 is a textbook example of how to use it “psychically” to counter a fireball.Ryu takes a hit because fatso was in range with the headbutt and did it early enough to hit ryu while in recovery, but the fireball never gets past the headbutt, it disappears with a nice little graphic effect. You can read all about it on Sirlin’s website here, http://www.sirlin.net/articles/street-fighter-hd-remix-honda.html . Look under the section “Jab torpedo destroys fireballs” (rather than “jab torpedo passes thru fireballs but allows them to continue travelling”).:wgrin:

Just to clarify, Honda’s super has exactly the same fireball-destroying properties that his jab headbutt has (see Mackdaddi’s video link at 1:20) - not that it matters much since you can’t throw any fireball while getting hit by Honda’s super anyway.

Well, between the first and second hit of Honda’s super, you can reversal super with Ryu. If you happen to be in the corner, the super will actually hit Honda as well. If you’re mid screen, Ryu’s super goes through Honda, and Honda happily keeps flying past Ryu.

Please don’t be serious.

I didn’t realize that Thelo. Thanks for correcting me and pointing that out.

And these characters can do this consistently when Honda’s back is to the end of one side of the screen and the opponent character in question has his back on the other end? Seems a little difficult. At 3/4th’s screen these seem more likely, but I still have trouble punishing it in that situation because it’s difficult to react to.

really most of those characters are just gonna throw a fierce fireball as soon as they recover and counter hit you for free.

Its alot more balanced. Although Boxer and Claw are still top tier, but that is all !
Sagat was almost broke in ST, now i’d happily but him in high.

Oh and Gief deserves a promotion !

Honda’s jab punch headbutt eats projectiles! It doesn’t go through them he eats them up!

are people still overrating sagat and underrating hawk?

Low tier is still blow tier in my opinion.

ive said it before, if people want me to prove to them hawk is much better than low tier, please please please please please add me.

I have to agree here, Hawk is very nasty in HDR, not tops, but a solid mid. And due to most of these balance changes, mid tier seems very, very competitive in this game.

Oops, I thought we were talking about Balrog lol
