So sim was #1 in st and now he’s above average at best? lol ok where do I start…
I know this is theory fighter but if anyone is going to make statements like “I think he’s above average at best” at the very least be willing to have some reasoning and logic to backup your opinion otherwise you’re just talking out of your ass.
For reasons sweetj can and probably will articulate better then me I put sim as top of high tier.
It’s also just as ignorant to use 1 top player as an example of anything. It’s just as stupid as me saying ryu is bottom tier because I can beat a scrubby ryu.
I know you weren’t referring to me but yes I have within the first month of hd’s release and I came close to beating him with sagat on a damn 360 pad. When I asked valle who he thought did good against akuma he said sim and boxer, I use sim so can see why but with boxer I can only speculate since I don’t use him so in my book so far akuma’s bad matchups are sim and sagat although it’s roughly even with sagat.
Oh yeah and hawk is mid tier at best anyone who thinks differently is more then welcome to explain why they think he’s any better and post a breakdown of his matchups.
I haven’t played this Chrisfighter guy but I’ve played a lot of good Dhalsim players (Eggo, Fatboy, John Rambo, Cuthbert, SweetJV to name a few and I’m sure I’m forgetting more) and I just haven’t seen Dhalsim dominating like a top tier character would be dominating in the hands of a good player.
This is not a knock on those players because I think they all very good players. I think it’s a knock on Dhalsim not being a dominant character, which is a good thing. Like I said, I like where he sits on my ranking scale now. Still a good character but not godly like in ST.
…um that’s a good thing because the whole point of rebalancing the game was to make it so that no single character dominates but you’re being a bit too narrow minded because a character not dominating=/= him not being one of the best. You have to look at it from an objective and much broader scope so ask yourself who has a higher number of favorable matchups then sim? By my count no one other then boxer, akuma, and maybe claw and then after that you must also take into consideration by how large a margin does he win those favorable matchups compared to the rest of the cast who have an equal or higher number of favorable matchups? Assuming the sim player in question is maximizing the character’s potential. Once again by my count so far boxer, akuma, and MAYBE claw outweigh him all things considered and to a degree enough to barely exclude him out of toptier which is why I listed akuma, boxer, n claw as toptier and sim only as top of hightier.
What matches does he dominate? I don’t count very many but I’ll let the Dhalsim experts answer that one. Maybe it’s the characters I use (Gief/Hawk/Honda) but I don’t fear Dhalsim at all, even with my scrubby Guile and Ken/Ryu.
Honda generally doesn’t have a problem with Dhalsim and never really has, but Gief should be a terrible matchup. f.mk, f.punches and yoga fire shut down a huge range of his options.
I think Zangief beats Dhalsim in HDR at high level play. It’s too easy for Zangief to get in, and when he does, the round is over. The change to the lariat makes all the difference since Dhalsim can’t really reversal.
hawk has ** always ** had a chance to win evo even before HDR. the problem is people dont feel like putting time and effort into learning him. people would also scrape their eyes out and get wayyyy too frustrated in playing some of his bad matchups.
I seriously hope that someone at Evo wins it all with Ken or at least makes it to top 8. Ken is so much stronger in ST Remix, and a top 8 or top winner placing would give him more respect on SRK and in general as a tourney viable character. But if I had to guess, I think the top winner will be a Boxer or Claw.
Whats your point? You remember damdai was originally a gief player in ST? Hawks probably only buff in HDR is that he can walk up 720. The dive is questionable. Depends on who you ask, everyone knows I hate it but still. I feel O.Hawk > R.Hawk but whatever. hawk could win tournaments like evo if people put the time and effort into him. and before you ask, no i havent been to evo mainly because of money situations. hopefully going this year.
Gridman, I would love to see you at Evo this year, just because you’re so determined to put Hawk on the map and there’s no better place to do it than Evo.
I’m surprised you don’t see hawk more in game. I guess most people wanting to play him get worried about the inevitable shoryuken, and flash kicks when using his hawk dive.
Sagat is very good but he seems to lose just enough to make him suspect at the tournament level. He is good at a lot of stuff but has seems to have no answer for a few strategies I’ve seen. If it’s a shoto heavy tournament then he might be worth a shot.
Next I’ll put Claw, Gief, Deejay, Sagat, and Dictator
