The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

I see this too. I think they want players to come back to single player story mode, so having the character stories to start, and having the cinematic story later in a few months seems the right way to do so. And having 2-3 more stories down the road will definetely get people excited (as long as they do it right). Let parts 2-3 (or whatever) be a continuation.

I just feel that if they do go that route, any additional story content might have to be purchased via real or fight money. They have a lot of emphasis that this first patch of story is free. But I feel that any more additional ones might cost the player a litle.

I think they definitely will have more story for the game over the life of the game. Whether they do it like this cinematic I imagine will be based on fan reception, which already sounds like it’s going to be pretty good.

One thing I’m curious about though is if stage transitions or status changes would delve deeper into the cinematic story, will we possibly have those all locked until the summer? That would be kind of a bummer.

Just give me a Gill/Bison fight at some point please. The rest can be 3 hours of Akuma’s English VA singing K-pop, and I would still say it’s good.

Speaking of Stage transitions, I do hope that now the game is coming that there will be some extras for the stages. Transitions, weather effects and hopefully hazards. I hope either through later updates, or unlocking, there will be more than just the ramen noodle bowl stage effect/hazard. I’ve just been hoping that they wanted to focus on the big stuff first but will return to it later.

Or, random off topic question. I’m gathering opinions here and there, but does anyone think I should turn my ā€œQ is David postā€ (linked in my sig) into a video? I’d add a few bells and whistles along with music and a voice-over, but I just am curious if you guys think people would want to see such a thing. Thanks in advance!

You should my friend because in this day and age, people are too lazy to read and use their imaginations. They want everything digested and spoonfed directly to them in small bites. A Youtube video is an excellent medium for the ADD era. So I strongly recommend putting such ideas out there like this.

If the story preview trailer is any indication, we will be getting weather effects, day/night cycles, alternate versions of stages, and several new extensions. I hope we get other stage hazards like noodle head too, but I’m not sure anymore. Perhaps that stuff is unlockable after story mode, or perhaps they are just saving such bonuses for release to avoid spoilers.

Bison would just beat the shit outta Gill like he did in his Capcom Fighting Evolution ending that Aries posted.

Only this time, the ass beating would be canon!!

I’m convinced they are going to release new cinematic story expansions as the game goes on and the roster is filled with new faces overtime, because that would be utterly stupid on Capcom’s part to have just this one free expansion we’re getting this and just forget about that altogether, only creating character stories for new peeps

That’s like if BlazBlue added new characters with each new version and just recycled the story over and over or completely omitted the new faces. And they don’t. Every version there’s an updated story mode with expanded roster being featured in it completely. I’d assume Capcom would go the same way

Yeah. And you were convinced the last returning character in the game was going to be Alex instead of Dhalsim.

And you should shut the fuck up

And you were convinced that the story mode was going to be all illustrations. Nigga we all try to convince ourselves of better/worse.

Hello, friends. I’m new here but I’ve been following Street Fighter 5 ever singed it was announced.

Anyways, with Alex as a DLC character, and maybe even the first, do you guys think he’ll have any sort of role in the cinematic story?

Greetings and welcome to the forums.

I don’t think Alex will have a strong role in the cinematic story. Alex’s value to the plot has always been limited and does not truly come into play until Gill discovers Alex through Tom, an event that most likely did not happen in the timeline yet. Even then, his value as a character is personal to Gill only as he has not developed any meaningful relationships most other characters in the series. Since Gill is barely a background character at this point too, this reduces the chance of Alex having any meaningful role in this era.

Alex could get involved in our story affairs through Guile however, who IIRC knows Tom and could introduce us.

Currently Alex lives in a trailer that’s stuck in traffic in Metro City, and that is the extent of his involvement so far.

From a DLC perspective Alex is at least 3rd in line after Balrog and Guile for release. Both of whom are rumored to be more complete and most likely are actual participants in the cinematic story.

I can see Urien being far along if he’s involved in the story. Kolin gonna report to someone.

Yeah. My guesses are Boxer, Guile, and Urien will be the first half of Season 1 released. If it isn’t Urien, then it is Alex. They would probably want to save a bigger name like Alex, Juri or Urien for Capcom Cup.

I can see Alex coming in late as like a ā€œSecondary Main Heroā€ addition to the story after the narrative has developed and Ryu has had spotlight along with some of the other mainstays.

Secondary main hero is Chun-Li’s spot. Chun is who Capcom uses to drive the main plot forward.

Alex isn’t even a tertiary main hero at this point. Alex was only ever important to Gill and Gill alone. Ryu was still the shit in SF3.

Did I ever say that? Could you actually point the message where you said I said that?

I hope so. That’s usually the case, especially since this is a Shadaloo based plot. However, she had a very little amount of screen time in the Cinematic Story Mode Trailer. So I’m hoping her role isn’t diminished.
